Grow up, ok! Most adults don't watch kiddy fantasy movies. I've NEVER seen Christensen before this movie. He does a great job and that's all that I care about
All you're doing by referencing him to some stupid child fantasy movie is showing what a feeble brained cartoon watching nerd you are. I have NEVER seen or even heard of Christensen prior to this movie and don't watch silly, made up fiction fantasy CGI movies...WHY? Because I am an adult with a Masters degree in engineering! Go get an education and grow up!
Christiansen’s performance here is the best representation of a lying person that has being caught, that I ever seen on screen. It’s multi-layered work: telling the lie, expecting for the other person to buy it, trying to believe your own lie, avoiding eye contact, questioning the other’s trust, trying to believe your own lie again, fearing rejection.
Chuck: "You were the chosen one! It was said that you would report the truth, not fabricate it! Bring balance to journalism! Not leave it in darkness!" Stephen: "I HAAATE YOOOUUU!!!!"
Fun Fact: Stephen Glass later graduated from law school and was refused entry into the bar in *two* separate states (NY and CA). I'm thinking the bar examiners watched this movie....
You may have already read the NY & CA Bar’s rejections of Stephen Glass, but if you haven’t, search for them and read them. Brutal. One (forgot which) noted not only his lack of remorse, but also his self promotion. It was not even a close call. Must suck to pass the bar exams in two states only to be told to get lost. He can do paralegal work, but no bar in the country wants him for a member.
@@brinsonharris9816 So basically he learned nothing from his tenure as a journalist. This guy is a real piece of work and shouldn't be in any position of authority.
@@nba_fan7214 Yep. There are some vids of the real Chuck Lane here on YT, and he said the scene where he told Glass “You’re fired. You’ve lost your job” was exactly how it went in real life. He must have enjoyed Peter Saarsgard’s portrayal of him. He totally sold the pissed off at being blatantly lied to and betrayal of trust of Glass’ fabrications. Hayden Christensen did a fantastic job at portraying Stephen Glass in Shattered Glass. Saarsgard is always excellent, but the flick is some of his best work.
Exactly. When he said, "Look me in the eye...and say that again." He was basically offering Stephen a final chance to 'fess up to his fabrications, and Stephen spat in his face.
Let's be reasonable in our thoughts))) Anakin was much more honest and better from the moral perspective (before killing children of course) then Steve here. He never covered himself and his deeds by people who loved him. This is not my fault, it is them. Steve here is a little disgusting coward who didn't know when to stop.
You said it exactly, Eirin. Anakin at least was never fake. Steve is just pathetic, isn't he? Didn't know how to stop. They fired him, and they should.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with fiction. But it does have an appropriate place it should be kept in. It should be used for entertaining, amusing, and/or enlightenment, instead of conveyed as if it were for real, as Stephen Glass did.
Right in this scene when Chuck confronts Steve about having his brother pose as the executive. He even said look me on the eye and tell me that again (that they're real people). I'm sure there are other times, too but it's been years since I watched the whole movie.
I was studying journalism at the time at USC, and it was common knowledge that these stories were made up. I mean we thought that they were purposely made up and somehow we were supposed to not count it as a legit part of that magazine. I also remember seeing those documents on CBS relating to George W. Bush thinking that I thought Helvetica font was developed by Microsoft 30 or 40 years in the future. I’m not saying this because I’m overly intelligent because I’m not, I’m saying that these are the people that are reporting our facts. Even at that time websites were very prevalent and used daily, for these people to be even a little fooled by, the AOL page was just beyond ignorant and just showed that they either had no common sense, or they were just completely out of the loop and really shouldn’t be writing a magazine that’s read by politicians, who make decisions based on it. This movie alone, the hacker story was so far and above obviously made up, even at the time we were making fun of it. Journalism is not what it used to be, and the people who are in the business care even less than these people did. Remember that next time you’re watching the news.
Really? You should add more. Because in 1998 there wasn’t much internet and we trusted published hard-paper magazines and newspapers. How did you cull the bs out? I started to do that from 1996 when Fox “News” was born, but The New Republic was always time-tested and respected.
this is the only film i saw with this actor in it. i am not into star wars but i suppose he is popular there. he acted really well here. saw this sucker in 2003!

I don´t want to discuss whether Hayden Christensen is a good actor or not. The fact is,
he was PERFECT for this role.
He was well cast. There's a difference.
everyone is sleeping on chuck lane though
@@DandyLion662a Huh? He did amazing as stephen glass..

Stephen, I write for The New Republic! For democracy!
Ahsoka Is disappointed and Ben must to learned It
Hayden Christensen is such an underrated actor. I think he is so good acting in this movie and people doesn't recognize it. :(
Why the hell did George Lucas hold him back? I think Hayden's performance as anakin would've been great if he was given a better script to work with
Funny how Ewan made it work though
I agree
Nick W ewan barely made it work. Loved the prequels though
You mean idiots don't recognize it

That is correct. This scandal greatly influenced that.

But they had to redub it for a PG-13 rating.
I had to rewatch that bit at least five times before I saw it and when I did, I couldn’t stop laughing 😂
I'm glad that Ahsoka likes her master Anakin's newspaper in this movie
"Your grandfather writes a wonderful newspaper about plants" said Ahsoka at Ben
People taking about Christensen’s acting, but for me Peter Sarsgaard’s understated performance as Chuck Lane was tremendous.
Stephen Glass gets his comeuppance. Crime always pays.
