Out bloody standing.Martin is just pure pitch and tone perfection in EVERY song he has covered.Long may he carry on and bring us more of his amazing and brilliant talent :)
FINALLY!!!!!!!!!! Someone who says he can sing Nessun Dorma and actually has the voice-type and musicality to back it up. Wow. That's a real Nessun Dorma.
@@edwinmalachy It bothers me a lot more that his stentorian high-B had almost no vibrato whatsoever. Lack of a full, healthy vibrato very often gives the impression of notes being under pitch. My praise of this singer, in any case, was based more on his voice type and his musicality (both impressive) than it was on his technique (needs some work) or this particular performance. Thank you for your response!
@@SuperDen1965 Why? He can't sing this aria passably. He is a pop tenor with a small, skinny, throaty voice--completely the wrong voice type for this piece. Well, I guess you're not really well-versed in opera, so you don't know the difference yet. But keep listening to more real tenors doing this piece and you will hear amazing things.
@@nanborg65 Paul Potts actually can sing this very well. You might want to listen to his pitch-perfect rendition of Puccini’s Nessun Dorma. Paul also made it as a tenor. He racked up 165 million views on youtube.
This is a very difficult aria to sing in the first place...Especially the last vincerò, you have to nail that with beyond perferction. And this guy KILLED IT!!!!! One of the BEST I've ever seen an ameture do. Nessun Dorma is my number one Aria and not many can sing this. His singing made me cry, it moved me so much.
Every choir member comes across natural talents that go unrecognized. We had 2 'ringers' show up for Christmas rehearsal and we were rehearsing "Messiah." Before the evening rehearsal was finished we discovered there was a bass member who sang the tenor part as well! This exceptional discovery, Martin Hurkens, is so wonderful to emerge to acclaim so deserving. You can postpone your dream, raise a family, and re-emerge.
Wow! This is better done than what I’ve heard from a lot of big name Tenors! Being 48 myself, I must give this man all the respect in the world. Bravo!
💯 CORRECT! I strongly suspect He's been classically trained. That's perfect pitch and in Italian no less ! Deep dive will reveal he's a former student of Opera in Italy!!
I'm a professional opera singer and i can tell you that his technique is fantastic! Not amateur at all. Unlike all the others that join those competitions
What a privilege to hear this, to be witness to a truly magnificent moment in all of time. In the connections of every being that together form LIFE, this will forever TOUCH those you hear it.
Thank you, Janeen. Your comments were, what I would consider, "Spot on"!! Martin's performance was professional quality; if I ever hard it sung like that. That was sensational!!! Your comments were equally poignant!!! I hope you and Martin keep up the good work!!! Your comments were extremely well thought-out. ---Lee
Why wasn't he discovered 30 years ago? How can such a talent be kept hidden all that time? I suppose better late than never, but it's still such a pity we haven't been able to listen to him for the last 30 years - when he may just have been singing in the bathroom. But I wish those who come onto the show to sing opera would find something different.
+MrCheccobianconero secondo me: bene, intonato, potente. Ma la dizione è da rivedere. Gli anglosassoni devono assolutamente evitare di raddoppiare le erre quando cantano in Italiano. E' fastidioso. Per il resto, bravissimo ! IMHO :well tuned, powerful. But the term is to be reviewed. The Anglo-Saxons must absolutely avoid duplication of R letters when they sing in Italian. It 'annoying. For the rest, very good!
Solo professionisti come attori, radiofonisti, giornalisti, cantanti etc.
When an otherwise "seemingly" ordinary man hit that perfect note at the height of this song it's not possible to NOT be touched in the heart - because we all want to experience ourselves somewhere, sometime in our lives as hitting our own unique high point!
I've seen a lot of people sing Nessun Dorma on these talent shows, but this guy can REALLY sing it! All throughout his range, he had the fullness, the quality in his voice - nothing was lacking. Truly amazing!
Martin sings to everyone in the crowd!!! Unparalleled performance, and he radiates and is surrounded by love!!! What a magnificent person!! This is why music was “invented!!”
Beauty comes from within and the singing voice comes from the same place within us in which our soul resides. That is why we are so touched by this kind of voice.
Who's still listening in 2024? What an amazing voice! Can be compatible with any professional male opera singer! BTW, I'm here after listening to You raise me up again. Thanks for your warm and gentle voice I'm very touching.
A singer's spoken voice does not always indicate their singing voice. Martin is an exception; there is a richness in his speaking voice which promises a rich singing voice.
My favorite opera song since Paul Potts sang it (I don't know many opera songs). This platform is such a wonderful forum for people that aren't as polished looking (like the smirky judges) or as good at pushing themselves into the very competitive entertainment industry. It is great to see normal people show their expert talents! Bravo Mr. Hurkens, bravo!

Paul Pott does not have anywhere near the right voice type for this aria: he is barely even a small leggiero and this piece requires a dramatic/spinto tenor. Potts gives it a nice try but he is, at the end of the day, just a small, throaty character tenor voice. Hasn't done much else since then, has he?
Ouch! I thought Susan Boyle made me tear up, this man made me cry he's so effortlessly fantastic! This is singing fully using his God given instrument! BRAVO - BRAVO
gorgeous sound - and it sounds like he has actually studied voice - sometimes on these shows we hear a natural talent that needs refining - he has a very powerful and beautiful song.
Wow, what a voice!! What an honor to be able to hear Martin singing. Hope we will hear much more of him in the future!!!

I can clearly say that is one of the best performances that I have ever heard. Why he is not noticed until now is beyond belief.
Pure talent... Glad he signed up for this competition and I got to see his performance 12 years (too) late. Thanks for sharing.
