helckler Steve Harris doesn't hate the song and he never said that. He said he doesn't like the version of Piece of Mind, which he thinks it's too slow. If he didn't like the song, then he wasn't rocking the song here and Maiden would never played in in 2 consecutive tours and a couple of gigs of Somewhere in Time Tour. This is what really S. Harris said about it: "It's a really good song but we much prefer it live. We tend to play it a little bit faster live. Looking back on it now we feel we could have played it at the faster speed on the album."

Saw this tour at Radio City Music Hall. My first IM concert. Tremendous experience for a 15 year old budding guitarist. Saw them many times since including the re-creation of this tour a few years back. Never seen a bad show.
The band sound better than ever back then, Nicko had so much verve and the two (not three) guitars were working hard. One of the hardest songs to sing though, Bruce must have quit the song! It's in F#m so a full step up from 90% of maiden songs that are in Em (the fifth note in the octave is a C#5, he's like 'fuck this man!') Bruce's WAILING it on the tour! Maiden could EASILY play/sing Icarus today if they kept a set of guitars tuned down a full step to D G C F A D. But they won't.
This concert is part of heavy metal history, however I prefer their sound since Brave New World till today. Since 2000 Bruce sings better than ever and (unlike some songs here)he fucking nails high notes, plus i love the arrangements they can do with 3 guitars. :P
actually i dont get it either. the voice gets old like all other parts of human body. there's no shame in tuning down guitars for the sake of singing comfortly

Nowadays you can just walk into a guitarshop and buy a Fender like that (Fender Strat HSS line), back in those days you had to chop up your axe to have the buckers fit in. I guess Dave (or his guitar tech) was the first one who "mangled" his Strat to get that awesome sound.
He is just into the music as we fans are. Isn't that great? At least he remembers the lyrics :) Now I love AC/DC but seeing Brian using teleprompters to show him the lyrics is just a sad thing! I remember them... why can't he? Man, he wrote some of the stuff...

Ending concert? :S Here they're not even at 3\4 of the World Slavery Tour. After this, they still toured for almost four months lol US first leg ended 15 days later. Japanese and Australia legs still to go. And they were brave enough to make a second US leg of a month and half after Australia. :O
Believe me, I tried. Cops heard it from 8 blocks away. lol Maiden sounds arguably better LIVE than they do in the studio, and they put on one hell of a concert.

This is THE song that got me hooked on Maiden. First time I heard this I was blown away, had to keep listening to it over and over.
