    Guys, there is an update to this method with a better easier tool. Still use the pvc to help seat the bearings but the new removal tool brings removal down to a minute. ruclips.net/video/RC0zVSv1Ihs/видео.html

    I just removed my bearings, if you want it done without much hastle and have a welder fill the center of the bearing with weld can also remove the bearing seal and tack the outer race so your bearing stays in 1 piece then punch from the opposite side doing it with the welder also heats up the bearing making it easier.

    My tire didn't have the two washers that center the tube between the bearings. Are they important to have?

    • @TheVintageEngineer
      @TheVintageEngineer  2 года назад

      They are only there to center the tube for easier axle insertion. Without them you will just have a harder time getting the axel through as you might have to wiggle it around a lot.

    If you changed bearings every day I could see this coming in handy. To take the time and make a tool which would take me longer to build than it would take me to remove the bearings is a hard sale for me thought. Ill just stick to putting heat on the rim and smacking them out from the other side with a 12" ratchet extension.

    • @TheVintageEngineer
      @TheVintageEngineer  4 года назад

      Thomas Hoffman check out the revised video (right after this one) Made a different tool that takes just a couple minutes to make and makes it so much faster. I can change and replace bearings on each wheel in a little over a minute.

    you know if these are the same size for the ct100x? i would assume so, it looks to be the same size as my rear wheel. and thanks for the vid and the revised one too lol

      dab devil the 100s use 6201-2rs bearings according to coleman. So they are a different size.

    Great video, I got about 40 hours total of riding on my Baja warrior, how do I know when it's time to change my bearings?

    • @TheVintageEngineer
      @TheVintageEngineer  4 года назад +2

      mykec187 noise, wheel doesn’t roll as smooth. Plus if you are heavy it accelerates the wear. I’ve just seen some of the factory ones come apart so I’m kinda doing a preventative maintenance. You can always pop the seals off the side when they are installed and check to make sure there is good grease inside and no signs of water intrusion. Balls and races will show rust on the inside.

    I thought for sure you were going to make a slide hammer! Yeah those suckers are in there pretty tight.

    • @TheVintageEngineer
      @TheVintageEngineer  4 года назад +1

      I actually have an axle pulling slide hammer but I would have to fab up an adapter for both threads (probably weld two nuts together to make a coupler). Figured that was outside most of the guys area of confidence.

    • @TheVintageEngineer
      @TheVintageEngineer  4 года назад

      And yeah I didn’t think they would be in there that damn tight. I just about knew the threads were gonna pull after the first full turn after it got tight.

    • @TheVintageEngineer
      @TheVintageEngineer  3 года назад +1

      No, i ride mostly on the street so I’m not dunking the tires in some deep mud/water. I just leave the factory grease in there alone.

  • @sekovittol3124
    @sekovittol3124 2 года назад

    14 seconds in, I am here because my puller won't fit, also the spacer negates a grip with a 3 prong pulley anyway.
    My guess is you are going to pound them out with a steel rod of some sort?
    On with the show....

    • @sekovittol3124
      @sekovittol3124 2 года назад

      So now that I watched, you got me thinkin', if you intend to pitch the bearing, you could weld a piece of metal over the hole, that is, if you have a welder.
      But that expander idea is pretty awesome.
