    Hi Paul, that's what I love about the T&S, it goes through some built up areas, Well the back of, but it also goes to the middle of nowhere. Lovely. Take care. Ron

      That's so true Ron! I am looking forward to exploring the rest of it. Most of it I have never seen before. Been looking at the remains of the earlier Kemmett Canal (nothing to do with the Kennett & Avon) today - which pre-dated the Stroudwater. I'll include it in the next one. Take care too, Paul.

    Hello Paul - greetings from Poland
    You certainly packed a lot into this fantastic vlog. Canal Update No.7 - I'm now aware of where Phase 2 and Phase 3 fit into the restoration plans. Thanks so much for the excellent explanation on this point.
    I was amazed to here that a complete aquaduct will have to be built to replace the one removed from across the River Churn. And then those 3 huge locks at Siddington - Wow! what a project that'll be.
    The Ocean and railbridge update was amazing. It's nearly finished!
    The last bits you did at Dudbridge with the canals last remaining 5 ton crane and the round house at Cerney Wick were fascinating. The Water Reserve SE Regional Plan is vitally important. I've read the bit you mentioned. I hope something happened on 14th March!
    A brilliant video. Superb still photographs. Your hard work in making these videos is very much appreciated. Thank you.

    This is fantastic news that you visited siddington, I lived there myself for 8 years and very much enjoyed the walks along the canal,I always wondered what It would of looked like back in its prime, great video 👍❤️

      Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed it. There are quite a few photographs available in the canal history books that feature Siddington. It was an oft photographed location because of those deep locks. Will be magnificent to see the T&S through there again, but, sadly, I fear that will be sometime away!

      Thank you! Funnily enough, I was there too this afternoon checking on progress. I will do canal update no 8 shortly after the towpath reopens, so I can walk beneath the new bridge. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍 Cheers Paul

    The Cerney Wick roundhouse is lovely, not sure how easy it would be to live in & furnish it, it looks like there is an extension so at least there will be some straight walls. Great photographs as always.

      Thank you faith! I do try hard to get the right shots and composures in my photography. Yes, wonder if you have to have bespoke round furniture? Thanks again, Paul.

      Thank you!
      Glad you are enjoying them and finding them informative.
      Just to let you know that I have already covered the topics that you mention in previous updates. I cover the M5 bridge and the missing mile in Update 4, link here.....
      ruclips.net/video/ubTpf6IMqcE/видео.html
      If I recall correctly the M5 bit it is about one third into the video.
      I also covered Brimscombe Port in Update 6, link here.....
      ruclips.net/video/pw2vfh6iLNg/видео.html
      I will, however, return to these locations as developments happen and restoration begins.
      Thanks again,
      Paul.

    Really good, packed with information and with some great photography, as always. One small correction - Dukes of Beaufort own Badminton, it's the Earl Bathursts at Cirencester. Keep them coming, please...

    • @westcountrywanderings
      @westcountrywanderings  2 года назад

      Yes, you are quite correct! Thank you, I was getting the two muddled up in my head. I was going to include an archive photo of the roundhouse in Cirencester Park, but I don't have copyright permission to use it. I will try and get a shot of it next before I do the roundhouse at Coates. Thanks for the comment, and glad you enjoyed it. I will do the next one as soon as that towpath opens underneath the new bridge at Stonehouse - it will include lots more content too. Thanks again, Paul.

    Looks a good plan to have a marina at the water park, lots of holiday accommodation and facilities there.

    • @westcountrywanderings
      @westcountrywanderings  2 года назад

      Hi Ted and Carol, yes, I think that this plan could work very well indeed. When I was there recently the Gateway Centre was very busy. The car park is currently being resurfaced and extended. As you say, the existing facilities are very good. Thanks again, Paul.

    Paul, Perhaps the answer to my question is in your books. I read somewhere that one (or more?) of the round houses had the domed roof reversed so that it could catch and store water there to be used in the house.

    • @westcountrywanderings
      @westcountrywanderings  2 года назад

      Yes, that's right John, but, as far as I am aware, only two of them did. Thanks for the comment. Paul.
