The dimensions he gives is not accurate like others have said. Build a small section first instead of trying to build it all in one go. The reason for the kelp is it makes the falling water into full water blocks. From my experience with item sorters is that they can overflow, so I went with is a item sorter with 41 items and 4 filter items, which obviously you'd have to modify his design a tad. One thing I'd recommend is late game you get shulkers and most likely fill your ender chest with them. What I do is I have some that I call junk where I just put stuff to make more space in my inventory. It'd be a good idea to incorporate dropping your "junk" shulkers off, grabbing new ones, and come back with them empty. Just be warned in order to do this you have to have an on/off switch otherwise if you break the shulker it will get collected by the hoppers. Also, imo, there is no reason not to do 8 blocks long instead of the 5 he does. Less pillars and more space to store. Also the pillars can be converted into chests also that you feed one side of the chests in. You don't get a lot more chests but you get some.

I made this in 1.19 and I love it. The modularity is great. You can build as many sections as you want, and you can go around corners by using a water stream or hoppers. I made a big 'U' shape in my base.
It keeps randomly breaking for me. Seems to happen more if I move away during sorting. I'll return to two chest full of my filler item and random items in the chest.. hopper empty. And yes, I'm only putting in 2 of 3 of the sorted item
@@Twallrion Hmmm... tough to say without seeing, but I thought of a couple of things to check: 1. Have you renamed all of your filler items? 2. Are your filler items an item that can be stacked to 64? Items that make stacks of 16 are "heavier" 3. You need to put in 3 of the sorted items at first, because one item get sucked down into the hopper below. That means you have 2 sorted items, and 4 stacks-of-5 filler items in the hopper connected to the comparator, and one item gets stuck in the hopper below. The hopper below the hopper connected to the comparator is the one that is actually locked, and when the items flow in they create a signal that powers the comparator out and turns off the torch unlocking the hopper underneath. (It's hard to describe, hopefully you understand what I mean) It could also be that you are going outside of your simulation distance, and that is messing with the redstone signals.
I followed the whole system exactly... but whenever I send an inventory full of things to sort, things get jumbled up, the sorter items end up getting sent into the chests, and the whole thing screws up. Any thoughts?
@@ClemGurpS Yes! It had to do with the speed at which the items were getting sent. make one of the repeaters a tick slower. seems to work now. And only use the chest, don't throw things in by hand.
I've followed this block for block, and there are times where the machine just breaks, where everything in the sorter hoppers drops down into the chests below it, thus opening up for *everything* to go into that hopper. This is generally the first hopper, but more often than not its the first 5 hoppers that this thing happens
You have to put exactly 3 items in each hopper when putting in your filters. Any more and you overload the circuit. I tried to drop a full stack into one and this exact thing happened. Hopefully this fixes your issue.
This system doesn't have overflow protection correct? I have the dispenser set to 3 ticks. but some of my chests will overflow and send a redstone signal too far down breaking everything. What would be the best way to add overflow protection to this?
5:39 Actually having that second hopper does make the output 2x faster than just the single hopper, in addition to filling that air gap. Not sure if that wasn't the case when this video came out though, but at least now in 1.21 having both hoppers is more efficient.
for all people who have problems with the sorter!!! You have to use the input chest as in the video, otherwise the comparators will emit too strong a signal and the boxes around them will also drop their items
@@rosecharles9563 yes, this design does not have overflow protection, it is inferior in that sense, i think eyecraft should have shown both designs in his video
it is quite simple to fix, instead of: Blank | Dust | Comparator Dust | Block | Block Block | Repeater | Block | Torch you do: Blank | Dust | Dust | Comparator Dust | Block | Block | Block Block | Repeater | Block | Torch essentially you push the whole mechanism back one block so that there is an extra restone dust between the comparator and the repeater, then instead of doing 3-5-5-5-5 in the sorting hopper, you do 64-1-1-1-1 and the first slot should empty out until its 41-1-1-1-1. adding the extra redstone dust makes it so that even if the first slot has a full stack of items in it, the comparators signal strength never bleeds into the lines adjacent causing the filters to leak out and break the system! if you need visual example heres a link to a video on it that has stood the test of time: ruclips.net/video/NHjWYCDYJ4s/видео.html i personally use some of both in my sorting system, expensive items than i know will pretty much never fill the system like diamonds and netherite, i use the one shown in the video because it only takes 3 of that item to sort it out, but for pretty much everything else im a fan of the overflow protection, keep in mind that when using both types there must be a gap between the different types of sorter, or the sorting system with overflow protection WILL break the one without overflow protection immediately
@@Dawz3G Are there any special differences in the design you're talking about when sorting stacks up to 16 (ender pearls/eggs and such) like there are with the one in this video? all this stuff is so confusing to me lol
@@dudeman3301 yes because stuff that stacks to 16 is waited differently as in each individual item has a value of 4 as far as the compactors are concerned. So you have to use a different system for those items.
Great tutorial. It worked perfectly for me. I really appreciate your videos. I found your Nether Survival video to be most helpful. Overall, your presentations are well polished, straight to the point, and your speaking voice is very clear and easy to understand. Thank you!
Quick Question: Occasionally I will have certain sorters where the renamed iron nuggets will sort through and break that particular section. Have you had this problem and know a fix? Its rare but can be frustrating since the system is tucked away and requires some digging to replace the nuggets and blocks.
I figured it out. So my issue was putting nuggets in before the block you want to have sorted there. Make sure you put in exactly 3 of that block in the first slot (I broke it by putting in a full stack as well). And you have to have a piece of nugget in each of the remaining four slots (if there is an empty slot in the hopper it will mess it up). Make sure you don't put the nuggets un first, or less than 20 pieces of nuggets in total, or they will get sucked in.
@@chancemorine1642 , yeah i have already done that. The sorter works fine for an hour or so then just breaks at random. kinda strange going to keep trying a fix
I had this. Items were stacking at the top of the input tube, I added a few repeaters to the clock to get the dropper to fire slower and that fixed it for me
Would be nice to explain that this does not have overflow protection and possibly show a variation with overflow protection, like impulse's 3 redstone dust and hopper configuration of 41 items and then 1 named item in each remaining slot. I started with this but switched to the impulse design because of overflow issues.
I agree. I didn't see your comment here till after I built 12 sections in rows of 3 with 1 tile space between the backs. If it breaks I gotta redo the whole thing. Gonna be one disappointed dude if I have to.
Really hoping someone sees this and is able to help! I ‘finished’ the sorting system for my room, and it seemed to be working great at first. Then, at a certain point some of the fillers were spitting through all the way to the bottom chest thus ruining the sorting. It seemed that it mainly happened to the blocks I dumped a lot of into the input. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Great video and explanation as always :) One question though, is it possible to build around corners to make the system more compact or would items get stuck?
I have a little problem with this. Whenever I start putting the sortable items in the input chest, a short time later the sorting machine kinda breaks. A few of the renamed iron nuggets go through the hoppers into the chests. Can you tell me how I fix this? I play on a server btw :) Thank u :)
@@Einfachanders I hope this helps you because it fixed mine. If you look up another video on item sorters you might notice that they add one more block behind the comparators when building the redstone (it goes comparator, block with redstone, block with redstone, and then go down one block with redstone(you will also need to shift the bottom part by one block)). This will make so that the redstone can’t activate other hoppers on either side of it. You will however also need to fill the top hoppers with 20 place holders (like in this video) and 26 of the item you want sorted instead of 3.
I really like your content!! Very precise and good info not everyone knows. Keep it up!! Sometimes a bit quick explaining but that's why there's rewind. Only thing you forgot to say is how to make a trapped chest. I'll just look it up but just a FYI. I didn't even know such a thing existed. Maybe one day a video on minecart track intersections/switches. Gonna build a 10 pack of this. Expandable to 15 or more. :)
this is great but I didn’t realize the 5 rows of chests are for one single item lol I would’ve just made it like 2 chests high and saved a lot of hoppers
Cool sorter! I built it but it seems to have a lot of issues with overflowing. I love how fast items can go through it, would there be any way to add on overflow protection?
Any tips on troubleshooting? I think ive followed exactly but my filter Items (the iron Nuggets in the video) keeps getting sorted somehow and idk what to do… it works until it doesnt so idk what the problem is… ive been working on this for hours now😩😩😩 and if doesnt help that im a redstone noob so i dont understand exactly whats going on😂😂 btw im on bedrock if it matters and im using renamed cobble as filter
I just built this in survival and its awesome! One quick question though. Will travelling far enough to unload the chunk or going into the nether break the sorting? Or do I have to wait for it to complete? Many thanks!
Guys, remember for the back of the build ( main stackable item sorter) with the redstone part to add 2 redstone dust and 2 blocks, so it should be comparator dust dust and another block on the bottom with dust going into repeater, this takes more resources, but fixes a problem with the comparator sending to much power and can activate other hoppers, not just the one that is sorting, if you don't understand, watch a rays works video on sorting systems, he explains it better
@@Eyecraftmc that's good, I just want that there in case people want to modify the sorting system with water stream, also you can use composters on top of the hoppers to reduce lag

can you link the video explaining it? I have the timer set up correctly, but when one item is being sorted, the one directly to the right of it starts moving all the filler blocks
I've built this but every now and then it just breaks. the iron nuggets just go into the chests and then it just acts like a normal hopper. how do I fix this?
Hey, I've just finished upto 14:25 and for some reason when putting things in the chest to go and get sorted when going through the filter it removes the Sorter nuggets from the hoppers and the items are going into and then any and all items go into those chests since there are no sorters in the hoppers anymore. Haven't done anything different to you apart from scale it. Anyone know how to fix this?

This is so cool. I love the sorter. I still need to find an allay though. Since the 1.19 was released I still didnt find one, even after travelling 5k blocks in every direction. Thank you very much for the tutorial Eyecraft!
For some reason my sorter nuggets keep making their way to the bottom chest but on only one of the 6 sections that i have built and i cannot figure out what is wrong. it works for a while and then out of nowhere the chests get all jumbled and i find the sorters went out of the hoppers. Any idea?
Im playing 1.20.1 and i made this otomatic chest system it happened to be good but sometimes it brokes like normally people use 41 items and 4 sorters but in that system its different then others. Is the problem my version or the 2 5 5 5 5 filter system can somebody tell
The sorter works good but im having a small problem. In the "junk chest section" when the chest gets full it fills up the hoppers first before going into another chest this might be a problem incase a important item goes into the hoppers and you forget about it is there anything you can do to fix this?

@@ClemGurpS Yes! It had to do with the speed at which the items were getting sent. make one of the repeaters a tick slower. seems to work now. And only use the chest, don't throw things in by hand.
I've followed this block for block, and there are times where the machine just breaks, where everything in the sorter hoppers drops down into the chests below it, thus opening up for *everything* to go into that hopper. This is generally the first hopper, but more often than not its the first 5 hoppers that this thing happens
Same. Anybody have a solution??
i would make the repeaters at the start have an extra tick, right click it to the max. Will slow the process down
same
You have to put exactly 3 items in each hopper when putting in your filters. Any more and you overload the circuit. I tried to drop a full stack into one and this exact thing happened. Hopefully this fixes your issue.
@@flirtyshirty9040 I do put only exactly 3 items into each hopper which is why I'm scratching my head about why it just breaks.
This system doesn't have overflow protection correct? I have the dispenser set to 3 ticks. but some of my chests will overflow and send a redstone signal too far down breaking everything. What would be the best way to add overflow protection to this?
I have the same problem and i didnt figured out yet
Very useful. I need a storage system rn
Glad to help!
5:39 Actually having that second hopper does make the output 2x faster than just the single hopper, in addition to filling that air gap. Not sure if that wasn't the case when this video came out though, but at least now in 1.21 having both hoppers is more efficient.
You must use 18 sorters rather than 20 in order for this item sorter to operate with enderperls (and any items that have a stack of 16).
What do you mean
Thank You for the tutorials!
for all people who have problems with the sorter!!!
You have to use the input chest as in the video,
otherwise the comparators will emit too strong a signal
and the boxes around them will also drop their items
Do you know why my sorter keeps breaking, is it because some of the chests are full now?
@@rosecharles9563 yes, this design does not have overflow protection, it is inferior in that sense, i think eyecraft should have shown both designs in his video
it is quite simple to fix, instead of:
Blank | Dust | Comparator
Dust | Block | Block
Block | Repeater | Block | Torch
you do:
Blank | Dust | Dust | Comparator
Dust | Block | Block | Block
Block | Repeater | Block | Torch
essentially you push the whole mechanism back one block so that there is an extra restone dust between the comparator and the repeater, then instead of doing 3-5-5-5-5 in the sorting hopper, you do 64-1-1-1-1 and the first slot should empty out until its 41-1-1-1-1. adding the extra redstone dust makes it so that even if the first slot has a full stack of items in it, the comparators signal strength never bleeds into the lines adjacent causing the filters to leak out and break the system!
if you need visual example heres a link to a video on it that has stood the test of time: ruclips.net/video/NHjWYCDYJ4s/видео.html
i personally use some of both in my sorting system, expensive items than i know will pretty much never fill the system like diamonds and netherite, i use the one shown in the video because it only takes 3 of that item to sort it out, but for pretty much everything else im a fan of the overflow protection, keep in mind that when using both types there must be a gap between the different types of sorter, or the sorting system with overflow protection WILL break the one without overflow protection immediately
So you have to use a different system for those items.
i watch 1 video and instantly subscribed your video are entertaining and useable
Its rare but can be frustrating since the system is tucked away and requires some digging to replace the nuggets and blocks.
same here
Same
I figured it out.
@@paulrandall7764 figured it out
@@chancemorine1642 , yeah i have already done that. The sorter works fine for an hour or so then just breaks at random. kinda strange going to keep trying a fix
This is really helpful i love it!🥰🥰
You just keep delivering :)
Watching this when it's 2 hours old.
I love your videos, you make it so easy to understand
Perfect tutorial wow, I appreciate how you were very clear of every step. subbed!
YOU ARE AWSOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you soooooo much!
Thank you for this! You're amazing at this
You have no idea how much you helped me getting back into Minecraft, thank you much man!
That's so helpful thank you
I really appreciate how you do these tutorials in survival
im so high rn and just wanna say your videos are so comforting to me, love your voice, bros like the bob ross of tutorial Minecraft videos.
Bro 💀
i keep on having an issue where the filter breaks and all the items just end up funneling into 1 chest stack, any ideas?
I had this. Items were stacking at the top of the input tube, I added a few repeaters to the clock to get the dropper to fire slower and that fixed it for me
@@nathanlarg9048 thank you I’ll try this next time I’m on
nice thank you. simple sorter i like
idk why but ur the only mc channel i like now days. really chill and also great content
Great video, thank you
Squids keep spawning in the little one block area where the water is and the blue ice😂
Awesome job. Does this work on Bedrock?
^
I've been looking for this in the comments. Might just build one I know works on bedrock.
just wanted to let you know that your videos are so entertaining to watch. idk what it is but every video is just so fun to watch and learn from.
nice! but do i have to use the waterstream on top or could i just make a row of hoppers?
Just spent 7 hours building the BIGGEST sorting system using this tutorial.... worth it
i swear this channel has never not had the video I needed
Best tutorials for minecraft, thank you very much for videos.
Is there any way you could make a shulker box unloader video that ties into this build? Your videos have helped me out tremendously thank you!
Great video and explanation as always :) One question though, is it possible to build around corners to make the system more compact or would items get stuck?
still need an answer to this\
you can
@@khrounose you can
I have a little problem with this. Whenever I start putting the sortable items in the input chest, a short time later the sorting machine kinda breaks. A few of the renamed iron nuggets go through the hoppers into the chests. Can you tell me how I fix this? I play on a server btw :)
Thank u :)
Make sure the repeaters delay is set to 3 ticks like I show in the video (the repeater that is connected to the original dispenser)
Yep that fixed it :D
I was that easy…
Thanks :)
Thank god I hope this works
I have this problem too, but my repeater is on 3 ticks delay😵💫
@@Einfachanders I hope this helps you because it fixed mine. If you look up another video on item sorters you might notice that they add one more block behind the comparators when building the redstone (it goes comparator, block with redstone, block with redstone, and then go down one block with redstone(you will also need to shift the bottom part by one block)). This will make so that the redstone can’t activate other hoppers on either side of it. You will however also need to fill the top hoppers with 20 place holders (like in this video) and 26 of the item you want sorted instead of 3.
Is this for bedrock aswell?
Thank you 😊
At around 4:00 you say this should fit (mostly) in a 6Wx9H rectangle. Am I completely insane (possibly) or should it be 7Wx7H?
@@el_t4931what do you mean by dust?
Any tips on troubleshooting? I think ive followed exactly but my filter Items (the iron Nuggets in the video) keeps getting sorted somehow and idk what to do… it works until it doesnt so idk what the problem is… ive been working on this for hours now😩😩😩 and if doesnt help that im a redstone noob so i dont understand exactly whats going on😂😂 btw im on bedrock if it matters and im using renamed cobble as filter
Perfect timing my man
first I think, sadly since I am in 1.18.2 modded this is of no use to me, but it's still a great video!
cool, nice, will you show a shulker box loader for bulk storage?
Does this work in bedrock? I’ve been drafting plans for a massive storage room and I love this auto sorter design for it
man fr helped me you got 1 sub more
ty for helping me :D
I just built this in survival and its awesome! One quick question though. Will travelling far enough to unload the chunk or going into the nether break the sorting? Or do I have to wait for it to complete? Many thanks!
did you ever get an answer for this?
Keep these videos up!!
True although that issue won't happen with this system because of the rate that the items are dispensed into the sorter
@@Eyecraftmc that's good, I just want that there in case people want to modify the sorting system with water stream, also you can use composters on top of the hoppers to reduce lag
On an unrelated note, I love the videos. You provide lots on information in a clear way. Also would love for you to do a video on all mobs and oddities about them like zombies and skeles getting jack-o'-lanterns on their heads on Halloween or how mooshrooms turn brown when struch by lightning or how turtles drop bowls when struck by lightning. Also a video call about rails and minecarts would be cool. Also a short 1-2 minute on the feature's history would be cool. You can use these suggestions or not, just suggestions. 👍
can you link the video explaining it? I have the timer set up correctly, but when one item is being sorted, the one directly to the right of it starts moving all the filler blocks
@@Alex-xl4mo that is because I think you are overwhelming the sorting system
I swear you’re psychic, I needed to make this. WTF
I love this guy
Great video!!
I've built this but every now and then it just breaks. the iron nuggets just go into the chests and then it just acts like a normal hopper. how do I fix this?
Bedrock or Java?
@@nandorpeto4314 Java
Hey, I've just finished upto 14:25 and for some reason when putting things in the chest to go and get sorted when going through the filter it removes the Sorter nuggets from the hoppers and the items are going into and then any and all items go into those chests since there are no sorters in the hoppers anymore. Haven't done anything different to you apart from scale it. Anyone know how to fix this?
same issue
This is a great tutorial and easy if you’re building it in creative! In survival it would be tough to get that many materials for everything in the game but for a small simple storage system works great and easy to build!
This is awsome! I am going to need to build this i have too much stuff and too little space oof
Thxs
Brilliant design looking forward to the allay part ty for sharing and putting all this together!
trust me i’m an idiot and don’t understand red stone. but he is very blunt and explains it well! i didn’t mess up, not once, and it was easy to follow. I paused a bunch of times, just to wrap my head around it. Overall it’s good and i’d say beginner friendly.
Can you make more than one sort of item enter a chest?
This is so cool. I love the sorter. I still need to find an allay though. Since the 1.19 was released I still didnt find one, even after travelling 5k blocks in every direction. Thank you very much for the tutorial Eyecraft!

For some reason my sorter nuggets keep making their way to the bottom chest but on only one of the 6 sections that i have built and i cannot figure out what is wrong. it works for a while and then out of nowhere the chests get all jumbled and i find the sorters went out of the hoppers. Any idea?
Getting the same issue :/
Did you manage to fix this somehow in the end?
Thanks for the great video. So, every column of chests is the same item?
yes
Crazy video and I really like your videos. I also have a similar channel
not really sure what i did wrong but it keeps breaking on me i guess it keeps overflowing ive tried many times to fix it but im not sure how
Im playing 1.20.1 and i made this otomatic chest system it happened to be good but sometimes it brokes like normally people use 41 items and 4 sorters but in that system its different then others.
Very helpful video, do you think you could create a litematic download for ease of use?
