good stuff mate. cheers
To think I was considering purchasing the Kef kc62 to go with my REL ti series sub 😔 thankfully I seen sense and decided to go with another REL ti series but I must say, when pressurising a dual subwoofer, I found the integration a whole lot easier/smoother then just integrating one lonely subwoofer!
I'm not quite sure if this is because I've got each individual subwoofer connected to each individual stereo speaker binding post (via high level input)
Just wondering if this would be the same for you, if you was to get a 2nd kc62 or for that matter a 2nd micro 3000 ?
Well at this stage I'm not considering purchasing another one. I have these on loan at the moment - I'm waiting for the subwoofer to convice me of the need, rather than the other way round if you know what I mean.
The KC62 has definitely provided some bottom end to the music, but has it convinced me to shell out £1400 for it...hell...£2800 for two? Hmm...well I'm looking to buy a new digital piano and I can get a great one of those for that money...I wonder what I will spend the money on lol?
I just really can't see the value being there on the KC62 - to some people this will be worth it as they have the cash and that extra 1% quality means alot to them. But to me it really doesn't and I expect two SVS subs will eat that single KC62 for breakfast anyway.
I'm going to play around with the SVS today and should be releasing some videos on it in the next 3-4 days.
I understand what you mean via binding post connection. This causes a lot of debate in the community. Some people swear by it, and some people say it adds additional distortion as you're taking the already amplified signal that goes to the speakers. A lower level line-input would be far lower distortion - but will you hear a difference? I think REL say that you get a benefit with regards to timing/damping factor when you connect this way.
A second sub will definitely be alot easier to integrate yeah. A second sub is basically like an active bass trap for your room, but it works better than bass traps so it's such an essential thing which often people overlook!
I might wait until they fine tune the next edition, although I would buy this one. You liked the sound after what you said earlier last year, so that to me is a go signal.
Hi Bob. Well, yes, the subwoofer was good in my view, but I did expect it to be a good performer from Day 1.
My qualm was always with the value this subwoofer represents in terms of performance for your hard-earned money. I don't think it does enough for the money.
The other issue I had was with the marketing of the subwoofer which I believe will fool al ot of people into thinking it is more capable than it truly is (11hz for example).
I still think two SVS 3000 Micro subwoofer will be both better and the approx the same price as one KC62.
I'll get on with the 3000 Micro review and perhaps you can watch that too as I think there is alot to like with that sub
@@propercushty when is the sb3000 micro coming out?
It is a very, VERY musical sub but doesnt do well with movies especially at higher volumes. Doesnt have the slam of SVSs or JTRs definitely, far from it. Good vid!
Yes I agree. It may be worth it for some people, but it's more one-dimensional compared to others out there
The real problem with the KC62 is that it turns off at low volumes. It's a very annoying problem. We don't always feel like listening at very high volumes and, on the other hand, in certain situations we can't. Many people complain about this problem, but KEF doesn't seem to be able to solve this serious problem. I have already sent the KC62 self to my seller, who has already contacted KEF, but so far, after more than 2 months nothing. I connected KC62 with my LS50W II, in manual or LFE mode, but the problem persists, What should be a good set is compromised by the KC62 problem. Unacceptable!
You leave this on every KC62 video. Sucks you have that problem but mine behaves flawlessly at all volume levels.
Had the same problem but it happened following an update from KEF that stalled. I went to visit my parents over the weekend and returned to subs that kept turning off when set up with features that appeared post update. KEF advised me that I needed to ship them toKEF USA for modification. Many calls to KEF. I refused to do so. After a while another update the FORCE SUBWOOFER ON , solved the issue .
Now I could set the sub gain to the recommended -6db They sound much better😊
I have two running stereo and love them. First sub I have enjoyed. That said, if movie explosions are your thing, maybe look elsewhere. These are for music.
I agree they're good but big subs don't always have to be exclusively for movies! For example - the Arendal 1723 2S!
haha i like the paper part.
lol at least someone liked it
My pair are mineral white...no cleaning issue😂
I would like to think that I am not the only one who has spent most of the day waiting for the kef kc62 demo video 🤦🏻
oh sorry mate! Apologies - I was out piano shopping today (random...).
But I've finished the recording and will upload it tonight!
@@propercushty I will appreciate it brother since I bought the svs 3000 micro and I have the doubt if the kef would have been the best option although more expensive
@@BrianMedina-bv4bj ok well the sound demo is up on RUclips now.
The SVS is something in going to be testing over the next few days. Bear in mind I have to record, plan, edit the video etc, it might take 4 or 5 days tops I'd say.
How long do you have to return the SVS just in case? I should still think the SVS is the better choice at this stage as you can buy two of those for the price of one kc62.
@@propercushty I currently have 2 kef Q350 bookshelf + svs prime wireless sound base and the sub 3000 micro, but I still have the doubt if the kef sounds better and with more volume, how do you have both, could you help me with that question that I have 🤦🏻I like them both for how small they are but I'm also interested in sound quality and volume
What would you buy if the KEF and svs micro were the same price? And do you think the 3000 micro is better for movies?
I think my usage would be around 60% music and 40% movies
You sweaty-handed man... I've never seen MY handprint on my two KC62's!
hey we've got a heatwave right now and we have alot of insulation!
@@propercushty hey dient you touch the SVS the same way? Would there be Fingerprints as well?
@@kaypee1972 The SVS has fingerprints but a simple wipe with a cloth and they come off.
The KC62 shows the fingerprints even if you try and wipe off with a cloth. You have to use a degreaser solution to get them off completely
@@propercushty thanks. I know, same with my LS50. Just need to dim the light :-)
@@kaypee1972 haha yeah that's also a good option!
Remember all those haters in chat who said your opinion with factually hard specifications and statistics don't matter if you don't have the product. Yeah, they're quiet now aren't they.
Hopefully they think twice about being so mean spirited in the future! Good job with the video by the way.
Oh I remembered....
I remembered.
.... and thanks for the compliment :)
What we learned: The subwoofer is great and the dude has greasy sausage-fingers. Now you don't have to watch.
just what I wanted to read on a Sunday morning. Hope you have a good day!
impressive for its dimensions, but why limit oneself to those dimensions?
it’s easy to find a better performing unit at a lower price.
just ignore lifestyle audio products and live a better-sounding, more satisfying life
what bothers me is that KEF and REL both market themselves aggressively to social media critics who have very little experience with real-deal Holyfield subwoofers, and who are easily impressed
People do not want a small fridge-sized subwoofer in their living room - causing an eye-sore and taking up premium space, yet they would like a subwoofer that will be capable of handling what is thrown at it - in a regular family space. So, it comes at a premium to get all that big sound in such a small footprint. A big subwoofer is like an Amercian muscle car - cheap, big, loud, fast and furious, while the Kef KC62 is more like a German sports car - superior build quality, overly engineered which makes it very well thoughtout and very fast in a very precise manner. You pay your money and you take your choice...I'll take the KEF KC62 everyday!
