    When you weld on the Idler next time you should put your welder ground right on the Idler. You got lucky this time! You can easily ark burn a bearing this way!

      Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately my ground clamp wouldn't fit anywhere on the idler so I put it on the chain right next to it hoping it would ground through the chain and not the bearings.

    How can you weld without bending the electrodes like the Pakistanis?

    Where is the center rib on that idler?

      It's there, she's got alot of use on her

      @@jds3545 they make bands to replace them help my dad put a pair of center rib bands on a John Deere track loader once

      @@jds3545 oh I have been working on restoring a 1957 D8 have not gotten to the tracks yet might need pins and bushings turned but it does need grouser bars Lates I been working on is the cat 29 cable unit
