    New Stream has many updates scheduled in the coming months so I put a couple links in the description so you can find the latest information.

      Quick question for you. One thing that I found frustrating about the Classic Microsoft Stream was when I was creating training videos, if I made one mistake during the process there was no way to rewind a little so that I could re-do that part and continue. In other words it only let you chop off segments at the beginning or at the end, but it would not let you remove segments in between.
      This meant that anytime that I made a mistake in the middle of my video recording I had no choice but to completely start over.
      Do you know if this problem has been addressed with the New Microsoft Stream?

    • @HeatherMajors
      @HeatherMajors  2 года назад

      Hi, from what I have seen they are not going to address that. This is something the company I work for has asked Microsoft about and we did not get an answer that would indicate this kind of upgrade.

      Glad it was helpful. The New Stream is a bit different and takes some getting used to. May I suggest also this video ruclips.net/video/3VsnsvtbJ4g/видео.html that shows you how to set up video collections. New Stream does not have channels or playlists like classic did. The video shows how to recreate something similar.

    This is really helpful. I hope they come out with channels soon as that is really what we use Streams for most. e.g. we have a CEO channel where you can go to watch all of the CEO's addresses. And we have an auditorium channel for everything held in the auditorium.

    • @HeatherMajors
      @HeatherMajors  2 года назад +2

      Will, exactly. The lack of channels to keep our current video strategy going seamlessly is one of the majors blockers where I work to adopting New Stream. I have a channel for each M365 app that I support plus one for my live webinars. I embed those channels on the SharePoint pages that have written materials so my coworkers can choose Video vs. Written (choose your learning style). If you missed my webinar go to that channel and catch the recording. I hope to see this feature soon or I am giving up classic Stream only when Microsoft makes me :)

    Hi Heather! Watching this for work application. Love the vids! It would really helpful if there was a long delay at the end of the vid so I have more time to click the next vid in the series or perhaps list the next vid in the description below the vid. I have my play set to 1.5 so I see the next vid link but I can't get to it in time :(

    • @HeatherMajors
      @HeatherMajors  Год назад

      Hi Josh, thank you for feeling comfortable enough to offer a respectful suggestion. I can take note of that. Most likely I will put the next video or a playlist in the description. I will have to play with how the delay is placed. So I have to share, it is funny that you watch at 1.5 speed because many people at work say I need to talk slower. It is impressive that you can understand at an even faster speed 😄 Also for this topic I do have a playlist, here is the link if that helps. ruclips.net/p/PLLixh6ZYqQdhEwv904yZfZKlRZmspZDSz

    I know it's been some time since you made this video. Classic Stream is disabled on my tenant, but I honestly thing this new version is not ready for primetime. External sharing just doesn't work. Disable login, enable login, doesn't seem to matter. Tried multiple external emails to test this as well. Don't know if there is anything I'm missing, but my settings in sharepoint are correct.

      Hi, I agree there is still some features that would be nice in New Stream. To be clear though, I don't actually work for Microsoft so I am in the same boat as you are as the trainer for my company trying to teach people why they should use this new version. We are hanging on to classic Stream for a bit longer while we wait to see some feature parity.
      That being said, I have noticed some regular updates on the Microsoft Roadmap so hopefully we get more features soon.

    Can we share external videos from a URL?

    • @HeatherMajors
      @HeatherMajors  Год назад

      Hi, I am not sure what you are asking. If you are asking can you use a SharePoint video link to share with someone out side of your company, that will depend on how your admin set up the permissions. Technically it can be done but many companies turn that off to prevent company data exfiltration. If you are asking if you can add videos from another source to your company SharePoint with New Stream, you would need to upload a copy of the video MP4 file. But there is an easier way to do that if you use SharePoint pages to curate information. You would just add the URL to the page and let people click on it from there. Will it be in Stream, no. But it can be viewed by redirecting to the place where the original video was hosted (youtube ect). Again this will depend on if you admin allows that kind of redirect.

      Hi Shab, I have a video that shows how to use SharePoint collections to create playlists. I realized after your comment that the title may not have been clear so I updated it 😊ruclips.net/video/3VsnsvtbJ4g/видео.html
      Also there is a feature scheduled to come out in the next couple of months to address playlists specifically. When that comes out I plan on playing with it to see if it is any better than collections. This topic is a big issue in my day job so you can bet I will be keeping a close on on it.

    It seems that the Stream on SharePoint does not have a "Add a survey, poll, or quiz to a Microsoft Stream video" feature

    • @HeatherMajors
      @HeatherMajors  2 года назад +1

      Hi, it does not have that feature at this time. However, from what I can find on the roadmap from Microsoft this is a feature that is "planned for future work". When I read that on the roadmap I always take it as Microsoft would like to work on it but no guarantees when/if they will get to it.

      @HeatherMajors  2 года назад

      Hi Omar, about 1 week ago it became available to Admins to pin to the Office.com home page. Companies like the one I work for don't use it yet because the new stream is missing some of the core features we love in classic. If you want to check it out go to URL stream.offic.com. Unless your employer has blocked it this is a back door into the preview of the features.

    • @HeatherMajors
      @HeatherMajors  2 года назад

      Andy, this one I know because a coworker started complaining about this. According to Microsoft they took out the option to upload a video from the mobile app as part of the transition to New Stream. They plan on bringing it back at some unspecified later date.

  • @kosk3432

    Hi! and thank you for the information.
    maybe, you can help me with the issue. in the old version it was so simple to share the video to all inside the company:
    -> open permissions
    -> just mark the box "Allow everyone in your company to view this video "
    and it is done!
    on the new Stream, there is no such option and i am struggling to give permissions each time people ask the access (((
    could you help with this?

    • @HeatherMajors
      @HeatherMajors  2 года назад +1

      Hi Kos, I hear you I am working through this at my day job too. So the best option we have come up with is to host our videos on a SharePoint site that has permission set to Everyone in your Organization. This is the closest we have to that nice Allow everyone button that classic Stream had. We have had to educate our users to look at the SharePoint site for all videos.
      The other option some people use is to host the video in OneDrive and use the sharing dialog box 3 dots > share and type in the group name or peoples names. I don't recommend this option but wanted to be say it is possible. No matter where you put the video you can always use the share option and enter names and groups.

      @@HeatherMajors Hi Heather thank you for the answer.
      Just one question: When i upload over the new stream a video its always says the url path of the onedrive user personal Max Maier. So the videofile is on his onedrive, what is after leaving the company? Is there any solution for a generel upload without personalisation of the uploader?

    • @HeatherMajors
      @HeatherMajors  Год назад +1

      @@HansTester You are correct that if you go to the Stream button it will always upload to OneDrive. The best practice that I advocate is to upload the video directly to the SharePoint or Teams where you would like the video to live. This way the SharePoint site will own the video and no matter who comes and goes the video is always safe unless you abandon the SharePoint site too. I also suggest putting all videos on a video doc library so that it is easy for people to know where to upload as well as where to go watch.
      For the videos that are already in OneDrive once you pick your location for videos you can move them using the more options > Copy/Move command.
      I feel like I need to do my webinar Video Management for Stream on SharePoint here on RUclips :)

      Harry, I hear you. Microsoft keeps promising more features so I am cautiously hoping for better things to come. But I don't think anything will ever replace classic channels in usefulness.
