  • You may need to adjust your CPAP full face mask to get a comfortable fit. Here are step by step instructions to help you get it right. When you have sleep apnea you need a mask that helps give you the sleep you need to enjoy every day. Visit www.ResMed.com to learn more about innovative compact full face masks used for sleep apnea therapy.
Fitting a CPAP full face mask properly depends a great deal on your position. Facial muscles change when we lie down and relax even further once we’re asleep, so you may prefer to fit the mask while you’re in your sleeping position. Whether you sleep in a bed with no pillows or in a recliner, you may prefer to fit your mask in your usual sleeping position.. If you experience difficulties in fitting your mask, please refer to your mask user guide for complete fitting instructions or discuss it with your care provider or equipment supplier.

I have tried all different kinds and styles of masks and nasal "air pillows" and can't find one that is in any way comfortable. As such I can't bear to use the CPAP machine more than a couple hours per night. I got tested for Apnea at the Veteran's Hospital in Madison, WI. They never told me that there were videos I could watch to learn more thoroughly how to use the machine. Been struggling with it for over 2 years.

Anybody struggling to find a good mask, try the ResMed Airfit P10 nasal pillow mask. It's very comfortable, and the exhaust air is diffused so it doesn't bother you or your partner like others do.

Hello there! Hoping somebody can offer some advice as an eldery family member has woken up with a blister due the mask. I appreciate the starting period with the product is trial and error but the mask has rubbed their nose red raw. This will inevitably cause problems regardless of any adjustments.
My question is what can be used at night to protect the skin until it heals?
We understand why it's happened and how to adjust the product but like an ill fitted shoe it has left a nasty blister and I personally wouldn't want to put the mask or anything else on it, looks REALLY tender.
Thanks in advance for taking the time to reply.

      Hi McGuire,
Irritation and soreness can result from several factors, including poor sizing, fit, cleaning, or even allergies. Please contact your home medical equipment or healthcare provider to verify correct sizing and fit, and to discuss other solutions for other potential causes of irritation. If cleaning and fit adjustment do not improve the situation, their healthcare provider should be the next option. They can determine whether an allergic reaction or other issue may be causing this irritation and soreness to occur and offer the appropriate solution to help ease comfort and reduce the risk of additional soreness while the skin heals. Thank you for reaching out on their behalf and we hope they're able to find some added comfort in their therapy with our products.
      Sincerely,
      ResMed Customer Care

@@ResMedAmericas Thanks for the reply! The fitting etc was conducted as part of a sleep clinic over a 12hr period. Shortly after reaching out we took a trip to the family physician. By pure luck they had previously worked with the specialist at the clinic some distance away from our location. The outcome being synthetic skin strips to protect the area, first one applied and being tested now.
If by any chance this was bad advise please do reply, we all make mistakes after all. If not thanks for the reply and perhaps this post can help others seeking advise for discomfort/injury and save you some time!

I have a beard and mustache. Is a full-face mask best for me? I keep the beard and mustache trimmed and close cut -1/4 inch. I'm a new user of this CPAP machine (2 weeks) and I am wondering of this is the best recommendation for me.

While an UltraSoft memory foam cushion or nasal pillows mask may be best for those with facial hair, we always recommend discussing mask options with your medical equipment supplier or respiratory therapist who can best provide options that may be best for you specifically.

Can we cut the air pressure down ourselves?
I don’t remember anyone fitting my mask. I have tried two. Still have severe leakage around the edges.
I think I only tried it maybe a week.
    It was very uncomfortable.
If I remember correctly, when I closed my mouth, it would blow my cheeks out.
I recently went back to my sleep doctor thinking he would do another sleep study or adjust the machine or something.
He prescribed some sort of pills.
The pills were like $375! My insurance would not cover them. I passed and have not been back to the doctor.
I am now having pulse problems along with fluctuating blood pressure.
I have had stents and triple bypass in the past.
I think this sleep Anne’s is affecting my heart.

The pressure setting on your machine is something that's set by your medical equipment supplier based on the prescribed settings that were set by your doctor. To change the pressure range that's been set up for you, you'll need to discuss this with your doctor. They may be able to change the settings themselves or may guide you back to your supplier to have these changes made for you. To start, we'd recommend running a mask fit test to ensure your mask is fitted to provide a secure seal without causing excessive discomfort. However, if you find the machine is actually exceeding the preset prescribed settings, please reach out to the person or organization who provided your machine to you for full evaluation. They can determine what might be causing the issue and assist you further from there. We'd be happy to work with them on this as well, if necessary.

Everyday I wake up with sore watery eyes. I've tried to loosen and tighten the straps but everyday my eyes are sore all day long. Also, my vision is blurry as well. I'm going on my second month now and can't take much more. Any suggestions?

    • @ResMedAmericas
      @ResMedAmericas  2 года назад

Thanks for reaching out, Keoni! As you know, with a proper fit and seal, your mask should not be causing eye irritation. If you've already tried adjusting the straps on your mask, you can also contact your medical equipment supplier who can help you with obtaining a better fit/seal on your mask or adjusting your pressure settings (if necessary) to prevent these issues from reoccurring. We'd also recommend discussing this issue with your doctor. They may have some additional solutions for you as well.

    • @keoni927
      @keoni927 2 года назад +3

@@Fentertainment It's better but I am still having sore and watery eyes. The Respiratory Therapist where I got my mask and machine thinks I have something else going on with my eyes because I have very little mask leak. I've been to my family Dr. who gave me Fexofenadine pills and Ipratropium Bromide nasal spray. Things didn't get any better with this. I then went to an eye Dr. and she has me taking Pataday once a day, Refresh drops 2-4 times a day and refresh gel drops before bed. Also, using Flonase nasal spray. That was last Friday 4-8-22 and I do feel a little better in my eyes but my stomach has been bothering me everyday now since I started taking the Pataday. Maybe just a coincidence. Not sure what to do about that. Maybe go back to the eye Dr. again. I have been sleeping good though. Lately it's been over 9 hrs a night. Thanks for thinking of me. Hopefully things will get better. I'm tired of not feeling well all the time.

@keoni927 Hi keoni, I'm sorry you're dealing with this.
I just got my cpap machine yesterday, and I could not sleep with it.
I was diagnosed with moderate sleep apnea and therfore have been prescribed a machine.
My personal issue is a feeling like I just can't breathe with the full face mask on and I was the one that chose it!
They offered me choices btw, but I was not sure if I am a mouth or a nose breather.
If I AM a mouth breather, then nothing short of a full face mask will help me?
Maybe an air pillow will help. I'll call them back today and hope for the best.
I just turned 50 and feel tired ALL THE TIME!
I hope I can get used to falling asleep with a mask, or something on my face if it will improve my quality of life.
But another fear I have is, if it's not backed up by batteries, what happens if there's a power outage? In that case, would I be okay? Would I be breathing in my own carbon dioxide in that case?
How do I get past the feeling like I can't breathe while wearing the mask??
If it's mental, I want to know why I'm so weak minded then....lol.
I'm left with more questions then answers lol😅😂

Hello Marsha and thank you for asking. If you have mislocated your mask's user guide, which does include instructions for disassembling/reassembling your mask components, you can search our website for your mask model. A link to its user guide will be available on its product page. You can also search our RUclips channel for your mask model ("F20" for example) and "disassemble" to find our video showing how to disassemble your mask and reassemble it.

Thank you for reaching out about your therapy data. The AirSense 10 measures airflow and resistance to determine when an airway blockage occurs. It's possible your machine detected some type of breathing pattern during this CPAP therapy session which it designated as an apnea or hypopnea event. Detection of events could be a little off if you're awake since it's expecting the breath patterns of a sleeping person. If you have any questions or concerns about your sleep data, please reach out to your medical equipment supplier for an inspection of the device and further insights on your data.

    • @ResMedAmericas

Your mask and tubing should be kept away from direct sunlight to help maintain the integrity of your equipment.

When not in use, I keep my mask in a one gallon freezer zip lock bag to keep dirt, dust, lint, and what have you out and off it. When the mask is being used, the freezer bag is empty of air and closed. I will wash out the freezer bag once a week when I clean my mask and hose. 2 or 3 weeks later, I'll toss the freezer bag and start to use a new one. Is this the best idea and foolproof? I don't know, but it seems to work for me. Lol

Does anyone know how to make the the connection between the mask (Hard plastic tubing) and tube (Loose Rubber tube connection) tighter? I have the Airfit F20 Full Face Mask and the Climate line air, and the connection is soo loose, it disconnects almost evey night. The design is terrible (especially for the lrice you pay for them).

    • @ResMedAmericas

There are a few potential issues which may cause your mask and tubing connection to become unstable. This can include compatibility, missing components, dirt and debris, one or more components reaching the end of their expected use cycle, or something else entirely. Please bring your mask and tubing to your medical equipment supplier who can help you directly in determining the cause and solution for fixing the issue.

I'm sorry to hear about the discomfort you're experiencing with your mask. Mask leak can be a common issue for CPAP mask users. As a first step, our blog post offers helpful info about what might be causing your mask leak and ways to address each potential cause: bit.ly/47qPiZc While comfort can be quite subjective it's something we do strive for in every mask we make. Please contact your medical equipment supplier for a proper fitting and to discuss additional adjustments or options to help address the discomfort & leaks you're experiencing. They can also help you find a mask style and model that you find most comfortable.
