The more I learn about Geddy Lee, the more I love not only the musician he is, but the individual he is. I miss you Rush! After seeing you 13 times in concert, still didn’t have enough! One more tour please!!!
Geddy Lee is always such a class act in interviews. Thoughtful and humble. When I listened to Rush as a teenager I always imagined a him to be a prima donna. Great musician!
Geddy as well as Neil and Alex are just real guys like all the rest of us. They are humble and respectful of their fans ...and each other. Let us not forget how much time they spend with each other. More than with their families. I am thankful that these 3 guys met up and hit it off 45 years ago!
Having heard Geddy here from the first question on is one of the best reasons I like him so much. HE is a riot and such a regular guy. Seems so nice. If I could ever meet Geddy or at the least have him read my impression of him, I would hope he could be blessed to hear I sure do thank him for the Music, and moreso the man he is. Geddy, has truly enriched the world both with making people happy and with his benevolence.
I still am in awe after seeing them last week live for the first time. What I wouldn't give for a few minutes to talk to Geddy Lee. This guy's one of my biggest bass heroes.
It's not fair....for one man to be so talented and so charming, clever, and funny. And I think all three of them were. How fortunate we are that they met and made music. RIP Neil
I have been traveling internationally for years and burning out small appliances. Never thought of stealing those converters from the hotels. Thanks Geddy! ;-)
Gary, I mean Geddy you're incredible. Been listening to yall since I was in 7th grade, 46 now, keep getting better and better! thanks for all of your music! Rush is just a huge cut above the rest in music, attitude, talent and disposition!

Great sense of humor by Geddy. Good questions for the most part. I was expecting his most regrettable Rush song to be "I think I'm going bald" on Caress of Steel. That one is difficult to get through.
I love RUSH, but I think after Neil auditioned Geddy and Alex realized they'd have to up their game to virtuoso level. Such an amazing band and you're right. The odds of three virtuosos meeting and sharing the same vision are ridiculously off the charts.
For years, members of Rush have named Genesis as an influence on their early stuff. And who can blame them? Genesis from 1970-1977 made some of the best shit ever.
@@mrgrey361 You can hear the influence of Genesis in Fountain of Lamneth, in the first section 'In the Valley'' Rhythmically it's very like Watcher of the Skies.
Old Genesis is killer. The Peter Gabriel stuff kicks the crap out of Collins. And Collins is good don't get me wrong. More people should know those classics like carpet crawlers and lamb lies down on Broadway.
Gonna put in my vote for The Friends of Tai Shan as well. It's not The Spirit of Radio or Limelight, but it's a decent tune on a seriously underrated album. Hold Your FIre doesn't get much play in my house these days, but it was the album that got me listening to Rush again after a self-enforced sabbatical from all pop music in the early 80s (personal reasons).
I also enjoy putting on HYF form time to time, and Signals....just such a departure from the hard core 70s and early 80's. Like a different band almost.
It's one of their best produced albums and it's Geddy's best vocal effort. Absolutely stunning. Peter Collins is a monster producer. Love Hold Your Fire.
Its interesting that Geddy mentions the "bad hair" as something he wishes he never did. Every time I watch the video for "Time Stand Still" - a great song & still a cool video, I wonder what he was thinking with the hair. 😂👍. But, I'm not judging. I went with a mullet for several years myself, back then. Hard to believe that he finds any of Rush's music undesirable. I've seen them 'live' several times, & I've been calling Rush - Canada's only, true "super-band" for years. Just watch 'Rush in Rio'. They could fill a stadium - anywhere - in the world. P.S. What is lost is the art of going into the studio and playing live to tape (with some double tracking). And doing it all without autotune or ProTools. A lot of bands, back in the day, also used session musicians on their recordings, sometimes uncredited. What amazes me is when a band plays like every member could be a 1st call session player. Many bands play just well enough to get by, but Rush, much like The Police, have to work super hard to fill out that sound as a trio. That puts them on par with the greats. I'm not the kind of person who declares one band or guitarist is, "the best ever" because style is subjective, but they are certainly masters of their craft.
Once a huge fan, I haven't liked Rush all that much since the early 80's, but it's WHO they are that keeps me interested. I think they are genuine guys, and genuine friends of one another. Almost bizarre. I'm happy to see them getting deserved recognition, finally.
Such Is Life Actually, I think they did. At least from their eyes and body language it seemed to me that there was a recognizing glance. Rush has always been the under dogs of rock & roll and I love them for that.
I'm beginning to believe that if you want a long, healthy marriage and a wonderful family life, you'd have to move to Canada cause these men sure were raised right. All still married. Look at the stones who all look twenty years older than they are and you'll see the ravages of abuse. For what I see, I can't find even a hint of anything suspicious and that's because they were raised right.
Marilyn Catalano I agree they seem to have maintained pretty level headed lives, but they most certainly have done some drugs, there’s interviews about them talking about doing hash back in the day and ‘Passage To Bangkok’ is a drug reference song. Also, Geddy is a wine aficionado. He collects wine (Alcohol is a drug, for the record). Additionally, you can be “raised right” and still end up with substance abuse problems. They treated each other like brothers. Sad to see one of them leave this earth. Thanks for the music. Neil, Eric,Geddy. Well done....
Don't know why some are putting down "I Think I Am Going Bald". The song rocks, is humorous (considering their age back then), also symbolic of the whole hippy " freak flag" lifestyle. Crank it up! It rocks!

For years they were cast as uncool: too serious, stable home lives, no tabloid crap. This here is cool- gracious, unassuming, genuine.
"cast in this unlikely role, ill-equip to act, with insufficient tact, one must put up barriers to keep oneself intact."
gracious, unassuming, genuine... and they were never anything but.

+Del McTarsney buddy guy and stevie ray Vaughn already did it
Me, too. I like that it sounds like it's from a Martial Arts movie.
Its no wonder this band was so successful. All the guys are not full of themselves. Down to earth. They used the talent God blessed them with to create something special.
It rocks!
goteverlastinglife ...You shouldnt remove it from the play list, their
earlier albums especially, flow from
one song to the next...
If I were only allowed to take one album to my desert island I would be hard-pressed to choose between Caress of Steel and Permanent Waves.
Still a kid at heart
Fuckin a man "Things don't mean that much to me. Id let 'em burn."
The first "stadium" concert : Moving Pictures w/ my bro and Richard Brady(r.i.p.) 😎✌
"I'm very busy in the shower" lmfao
I was lucky enough to have met Geddy. Also saw Rush 7 times.
geddy lee with the Canadian "against"
GREAT interview! Geddy's sense of humor is first rate!
Full marks to Geddy Lee for sitting through these inane questions.
+1000sguzzi I think these questions are more interesting. Better than "so where do you get your ideas?"
Legend
