Hi iResurrect Repairs, I have a Gopro Hero 3+ Black and it has the same problem as the video. Do you think that in my case, changing the Image Sensor (CCD) will solve the problem? I'm from Brazil
Thanx for the video. I changed out the Image Sensor on my Hero4 but it still freezes. Any suggestions? Can I send it to you? Thanks, Rich (wayyy out of warranty) :(
Have you any idea on how to fix a gopro hero4 black that when it has sd card inserted it doesn't power on just beeps once or twice yet with out sd turns on then freezes sometimes Thanks

I bricked my go pro hero while upgrading the firmware ,i accidentaly switched it off coz it froze in update mode, now it cannot recognize any micro sd cards
my concern is that if i buy a "used" sensor, i may end up with someon else's bad junk, has that been an issue for anyone? i know how these "refurbed" or "used" parts can be with all the ebay scammers
Hi my Hero 4 Black freezes up when I scroll through the settings. Also I have noticed a purple line pixelation through shots I managed to take before the camera freezes. Is this a better indication that the problem lies in the CMOS Image sensor?
Have you had problems with replaced image sensors? How do you keep them from damage and future freezing? Does tge circular polarized filters help protect the image sensor?
Usually the sony sensors die for no reason. You can find used sensors for $30 or new ones for $55 online. Very rampant problem but not worrying to GoPro i guess. :(
iResurrect Repairs I bought the Rev A sensor. No trouble just yet. How long do these replaced sensors last for you. Is it constant trouble or only with some of the hero 4's?
Hi my Hero4 Black has freezing button freezing issues also. The camera will sometimes record video or take pics and they are clear. Mostly it is freezing. How do I choose between a motherboard replacement or a sensor replacement like you are doing ?
iResurrect Repairs yup , changed the sensor and now it works ! However I somehow screwed up the sound recording ..I get a bunch of garbled noise .. but the video looks great . Any ideas what to troubleshoot for the sound ?
Hi awesome video. I got a new sensor, followed your instructions, it still freezes. Can I send you my Hero4 Silver to look at/fix? Also my trusty 3 started freezing too. Please let me know. Thanks, Rich
I have had some Gopro cameras do that. Freeze even after the sensor replacement. Pretty sure a replacement board will fix it. iFixit has them. www.ifixit.com/Store/Parts/GoPro-Hero4-Silver-Internal-Assembly/IF300-093-1
is it only me, noticing that freezing is generally occuring when video mode have been selected? i have a 3+ . Some of you guys is saying it is an overheating issue an i do believe it is. I am dealing with this stupid issue since a couple of days, i tried every possible Software/firmware solution , Update soft. , i perform a hard debrick recovery ( some sort of linux kernel mixing around with the code), I downgre software from 3.03 to 1.04 and what I noticed in any of the cases was: • if battery is charged and cooled to the rooms temperature and when temperature of the gopro are the same , its unfreezing and let me format the card, after formating the card i can go to video mode and make 30min long video without an issue. after i stop recording video is saved and ok, but the gopro could fried eggs with the temp he gets. After second attempt when hot it directly reboots or freezes sometimes. • i noticed that the general heat is not coming firstly from the battery compartment but from the same image sensor(i didn't have the right tools to open it for now, but i will check) • noticed that sometimes the cam is not freezing anywere on the menu except when i select video mode, then without touching the shutter button it simple Reboot or freezes. my gopro is very wierd and unique with the strangenes it has, there is no video that demonstrates the same issue i have sometime is rebooting, sometimes its freezing, when is cooled down if i format sd it records one video, this video in some cases is with good quality, sometimes the quality is very bad . Any way i do believe that issue is in the hardware, but is better to try a workaround and cool the sensor than directly buy used staff, if i broke the sensor then what the hell i will have to buy it anyway. Anybody having the listed issues? By the way great video, good work!
Here's my educated guess for this FREEZING issue (HERO 3). At least as far as I have experienced. I believe it is an OVERHEATING issue. All the fixes I have seen on video have a seemingly less than predictable result (at first). My feeling each "solution" eventually works. Why? I think it's because there is enough TIME for the battery (and camera?) to cool down. Think about it. All the initial tries that fail suddenly work. What I did was take the battery out of the GoPro and put it in the freezer for a few mins. , like 5 mins. I take it out of the fridge. The battery is cool to the touch (below room temperature). Put it in the Hero 3. TaaaDaa Instantly works. An argument could be made that the camera was also cooling down. That may be. But the battery is cheaper than the camera so I choose to FREEZE the battery rather than the GoPro. So to UNFREEZE the GoPro, FREEZE the battery (actually cool it down not freeze).
It will freeze instantly after its turned on. I have 4 hero 4 cameras. Literally all 4 freeze in the same exact way. I cannot enter the mutli exposure menu. When they hit that, they all lock up. Its weird, but its not a heating issue, its probably firmware. I have 4 that do it, all the same exact way. One guy said you can put them in the freezer for 2 hours, then they work longer. I still doubt this is due to a heating issue, the temp can change the voltage of the battery and other things in the electronics. Its weird.
I tried using the camera after letting it and the battery cool down. It took a while for it to freeze. Maybe there is a sensor that it messed up that turns the camera off for safety that is triggering way to low/early?
Hello! My Hero 4 Black keeps freezing while the image sensor is disconnected. In this case do you think replacing the sensor will fix it?
I disconnected the shutter flex you mentioned before now how to connect it back
Take off the whole motherboard? Is it from underneath of the board?
Question. I got a hero 3+ black. My divice freeze direct after start up. Do you think i need a New sensor? Can i stil buy it?
Hope you can help.

I'm from Brazil
most of the time it is the sensor. So first change the sensor and record for more than 7 minutes.
Any attempts ?
please write name for this ? where can i buy ? can you send me link pls ??? thank you

I am curious if just cleaning the connector to the image sensor would fix the problem rather than replacing it.
No, it will not fix it. But you can try.

Hi! I have the same problem, but it dosn't work even after changing the image sensor. Do you have any tips on what to do?
Try changing the mother board

yes
iResurrect Repairs Thanks for gettin back to me. So this is not the main board but the sensor?

Mine do the same and I change the sensor but it keeps freezing. What do you think it could be? Thanks
I had a few that froze even with a replacement sensor. That case I changed the main board :( Btw what camera is it?
Hero 4. But not sure if is black or silver
4 silver has the touch screen but black does not.
In that case silver
At this point, I am thinking the main board is faulty. By the way where did you get the sensor from?
Thank you very much , excellent instructional video. Keep up the great work.👍🆗
My go pro hero 4 silver keeps freezing when I watch the videos

my go pro 3 black does exactly the same and nothing works
