So I see that you have the front LCD already loose. Can you show how to loosen the front LCD? I believe its stuck down with adhesive tape and almost impossible to unstick it without breaking the lcd. Or is the Silver different? I found it impossible insert the rear display connectors with the front lcd in place.
+remote one The front LCD came lose pretty easily for me. If you are afraid of pealing up the adhesive you can use a heat gun or hair dryer to warm up the adhesive for a few seconds then remove the LCD.
Got my hero4 silver wet. Sister jumped into the river without water proof case. The screen turns on, but it's all just lines and distortion. What do you think it is? Or is my safest bet just buying a new one?
Mine got a little wet too. Rear touchscreen was acting like I was touching it even when I wasn't. I let it sit in sealed rice bag overnight and still no work. Now rear screen is a mostly white screen when it turns on. Front screen still works I guess. Any ideas would be helpful
Great video. Same thing happened to me after my djip2 suddenly dropped out of the sky. GoPro stopped recording right before the crash ?? The back touchscreen and shutter buttons stopped working. Opened it up and saw three ribbon cables disconnected. The two smaller ports came off the circuit board. The bigger ribbon port is still attached to the board so I was able to insert into port. Do you think I have to replace the board since it appears like the ports would have to be soldered? Drone dropped about 60 feet right on concrete sidewalk.
I've just cracked the rear touch screen. Has anyone seen a video of how to replace this? I'm guessing it's only a few steps more than this video shows but i could do with some info before i try it myself. Help appreciated!!!
Hello, great video I have a similar problem . The thing about me is that GoPro screen brightness is low and flashes to an old tv after a few minutes of use. ¿ Cres has to do with some connection ? Or it could be ?
can you help me?i bought two gopros from ebay.the one had problems with the lcd screen and the other one with the buttons.i opened both of them, took out the motherboards and i installed the non harmed motherboard in the gopro with the good lxd screen.when everything was finished my final gopro was working just fine except 1 button.it is a hero 4 and the left button was not working...i opened it up and put a little aluminum foil inside the gopro and the button was then working but it was hard to press it...any suggestions on how i could fix it??btw i bought both gopros for less than 50$and i thought i could fix it but it didnt work fine...i would really appreciate it if you could answer!!thank you
That is a tough call. It sounds like you got what you paid for. I would begin by disconnecting and reconnecting all pins and ribbon cables within the GoPro. After testing that you might want to look for solder tabs that have broken off that could lead to a miss contact between pins. Hope this helps!
Hi! My Hero 4 silver got wet and beat up a bit in my pocket after break through some ice on the lake this winter. After drying it I turned it on and the LCD screen wasn't working. I tried a few more times and after a few days I finally put it in rice but I didn't open the housing. Waited a week and nothing still so I opened it today and put it in rice. I'm waiting a few days to see if a miracle will happen. Just wondering if I purchase a new LCD screen replacement if that might be the fix. All my connections seem to be intact. Any thoughts?
Hi Lee.I have a problem with the image sensor on my Gopro H4. I recently noticed a thin line on the top right corner of my movies. I guessed it was maybe a hair or bit of dirt on the sensor. So I took camera apart and looked at the image sensor, and saw that the thin plastic film covering the image sensor is peeling away in the corner causing the line. How can I fix this? Would it be ok if I take the film off altogether using fine forceps or should the film remain on the sensor to protect it?
Hey, I would honestly be very careful at this point. It is probably fine to test your theory, but I would think it is almost cheaper to just buy a new sensor and replace that part entirely.
Where did you find replacement parts for the gopro? Crashed my quad yesterday and my Gopro took a violent beating. Front LCD shattered, casing is bent in.. Got the video of the crash though lol
Hashil Patel CumulusCard Hey guys, sorry for just now responding. I found my parts at the following website and they were great quality: peauproductions.com/store/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=124_170
I may buy a gopro with a brocken screen (I want to make some economisation) I will try to repair it after. But I just want to check what are the impact of a brockenb screen. Is it possible for you to check pictures with the android app ? I mean can the app substitute the LCD screen ? Thanks.
This was a helpful video. My top power / record button and setup button were acting flakey and I couldn't figure out why. After taking the GoPro apart, it was obvious -- the connector for the ribbon was barely hanging on to the board. Basically, a very poor solder job from the factory. I never dropped or damaged my camera - what a shame GoPros have this weakness. It's back together now. I guess I'll just record via the phone app. So lame.
Hey Miles. Did you try searching online for a replacement ribbon cable? I know that you can get them for relatively cheap and you clearly know the steps now to replace those parts.
Unfortunately, my issue would require a replacement board - the input connector completely fell off the existing board. There's really no sign of damage anywhere else. The ribbon cable is actually fine.
@@milesb4231 Same boat as you. My wife pulled out her Hero4 so I can add another angle when recording, but her shutter button wasnt working. I watched a few videos before opening it, carefully got it open and noticed the ribbon cable was disconnected. The device hasnt ben used in ages, and cannot use the top button to input settings.
Thank you so much! I follow every steps, now gopro coming back alive

hello! great video! i crashed my phantom 2 and the same problem with the cam.... how do you remove de front lcd to connect the wires?
+Alvaro Poblete The front LCD is connected via a ribbon cable. You'll see it on the left side if facing the front of the camera.

what size Phillips screwdriver for the four screws?
Sorry for the late reply. It is the same size as one you would use for eye glasses.

If you have a soldering iron, I would just suggest resoldering to the board.

Sorry for the late response, but yes, only a few more steps and the screen is pretty easy to fix. It is all just a matter of ribbon cables.

Check the connection from your power board to your screen!

I broke my touch screen on hero 4 silver and help on repairing it?
+Jonathan Zamora If you order a replacement screen and follow this tutorial it should fix it by just getting a new one.
+Lee Easton I just replaced the screen turns on and freezes on me with no picture Amy suggestions
Jonathan Zamora Try reseting it to factory settings and use a different SD card

I would say it is much cheaper to just buy a screen replacement and use that!
Anybody got experience with reseating the shutter button ribbon cable?
My go pro hero 4 silver has a purple screen in low light only. It records purple how can I fix it?
You will need to double check the actual sensor that sits below the lens. This part likely needs replacing!

yes, the app can substitute as a screen as long as the wifi is still functioning properly.
