For anyone trying this fix, I followed along with this video, and it took me about ten times and several hours, taking it apart and putting it back together, but I eventually got it. I have a working screen again, so thank you to the uploader! 🙏🙏
The part at 4:00 shows him taping the ribbon cable for the "touch display sleep/wake button" to the ribbon cable for the touch screen replacement. I don't know if he just didn't show the part where he soldered it... But I tried just taping it, and that button no longer works for me... Just thought I'd throw that out there. I think it needs to be soldered, but I think I'd destroy the ribbon cables if I tried to solder them. My screen works though, and I'd rather have that than the sleep/wake button, which I never really used anyway.

Thanks for sharing this! I know it's not an easy task and doing it on camera is even harder. I took mine apart and the ribbon cables came out and I now see I have to disassemble more, before I can put it back together. Don't know if I need to replace the display or if it was poorly connected. It worked erratically so if I don't break something I will try it again. I don't do stuff like this very often, but with You Tube vids, I have been able to replace cell phone screens and fix TVs that really didn't have any major problems.

im not sure whats happening at 4:08. you took the tape off and a piece, which i did with mine, but you edit out the parts of where exactly you put the piece back on before you put the tape back on

Hello. To all those who are wondering if this method is easy to do or not, I’d say it’s rather complicated than what you see in the video. I have replaced the screen on my Hero 4 Silver following the procedures shown in the video and eventually I managed to repaired my camera. However, keep in mind that certain operations weren’t properly presented, a few times I had to figure things out by myself. Good luck guys with repairing your damaged camcorders. :)

You should be banned for that annoying music. Like children's music but in a horror movie.
