This video was exactly what I needed. So many of the bigger channels making color bass tutorials (of which there aren't many) just cover surface level stuff without doing a deep dive into the actual arrangement. Thanks for making this, from a fellow producer struggling to learn this genre.

Thanks for the kind comments, I just really hate that most high quality (not saying I’m high quality, just saying I’m not dogwater) color bass production videos are generally locked behind a paywall. Really hard to get into a genre without many assets and production guides like others.

great tutorial for those with packs at their disposal, but it seems like with such a minor focus on making the layers there's not much room for those without or those who wish to learn to make their own layers (esp those who don't want their song to sound like Generic Color Bass [plugin of choice, a la Chroma or Pitchmap] )

Could you do a tutorial on flow? -- as in, how to create those unique offbeat flows for the color basses.

Outstanding content. Thanks for the information and guidance. BUT When layering the textures in a specific rhythm how do you chop them all to line up perfectly are you doing it all manually or is there a way to copy the chops between layers?? I can see myself using these techniques but like if I chop my bass to have a certain bounce I don’t wanna chop the layers too 😂😂 do you put all your layers first then chop them together 🤔 either way wish you nothing but the absolute best big dawg 🙏🏽😎😎

Excellent question! For most of my chops I make a main bass sound indulged with many many different layers. For the most part I’m doing it all manually for the bass creation phase, after that I use the little slip tool at the top to change tonal aspects of the sound of various layers in the bass. Of course you can just do a large render and then use that with variations for specific parts of the drop. It’s a lot more tedious to do manual work like this but it still gives a clean result without the need of constant sound design. I like this a lot more because it gives me a finished result faster than if I were to sound design every layer. So to summary I make a solid bass one shot with about 10 layers and then adjust it for the flow of the drop and variations as needed. Thanks so much for the question!
