This is a much better tutorial than mine LOL. Really appreciate how you nail down the basics pretty well and are sprinkling some theory and stuff in it too! One thing I would suggest to anyone new in the genre is def trying to combine a multitude of different "colorizing" techniques to create more unique sounds. One of my favorites is pitchmapping a sound and then very slightly vocoding it to give it a melody rather than being static. Definitely something I would reccomend trying, and good luck on yall's color bass endevors!
Some of the arrangement choices could use a bit more flavor but HOLY SHIT I gotta say your drum samples and mixdown especially on the buildup and drop are clean asf! Great work with this vid
Yooo this is amazing! You present your theory reaaally well, straight to the point and with examples and inspiration. Your song is a BANGER too. Hope you get some more subs :D
I agree that color bass is a super cool genre! I never really thought of vocoding a bass with chords before, but after hearing it for the first time I knew I had to try it out and see what it's like, and it's super cool! It's so interesting
this is such a good tutorial omg. it's paced so well, you explained everything very quick and concise while delivering a great amount of info without it being too overwhelming. your explanations are also very clear, while having fun and entertaining editing sprinkled along. not to mention the banger end result :O overall a really great video, loved it a lot!! excited to learn more stuff from you :))
Bruhhh..!! The quality of content, video editing and the level of knowledge you are sharing is urghhhh..!! F'ing next level...!!! Htf are u so underrated..?! Imma share ur vid links among my homies. Broducers for life 💪🏼🔥♥️
Ive got an OTT with normal settings and an eq with boosts at 300Hz and 3000Hz. I think the Serum FX bitcrusher i have on it (with 21% drive) is doing a lot of the work in terms of making the voice audible because the added frequencies from said bitcrusher dont have any competing frequencies in the piano or the synth lead in the same section. Other than that I formant shifted my voice down 3 semitones and pitched it down 9, and also made it mono.
Bro ik your not pulling crazy views rn but please keep making vids and just go as hard as you dcan you have so much potential, ur editing is good, ur music is good just please keep making vids you will grow eventually I promise
in serum above the portamento knob, turn the "always" button off. Ive got notes at my starting frequency, then another at my end frequency, with the start time of that end frequency note offset slightly. The end note is cut off before the beginning of the next start frequency. This all allows the sound you heard.
Awesome song! Your video style kind of reminds me of Bill Wurtz with all of the jokes spread throughout but for dubstep and it’s awesome. Great video man 👍🏻
Imagine if we could grab some of the classic composers like Bach or Beethoven and bring them to our time to see all this stuff. What would they say I wonder
As an Ableton user, it's making me feel some kind of way, seeing all you gross FL users, making such talented and awesome music and content. Scum of the earth! Great job 😜💪
subbed, I'm a very beginner producer, still trying to find what I want to make, I love Color Bass, your tutorial is perfectly explained along with tons of terminology that I find extremely useful, thank you so much.
The point of this tutorial was to give a general idea. If you want something more original, watch one of my hour long track breakdowns. For example: ruclips.net/video/Jz-URKuV5DM/видео.html where i combine slightly more complex music theory principles with color bass Even more so, this: ruclips.net/video/nzXDiLBOJBI/видео.html in which showcases notably more unique and complex sound design
Cmon man, you guys always make so many freaking cuts and keep speed running how to make music that it's so HARD to understand ANYTHING AT ALL T_T Really disappointed T_T
what the hell it's insane that you only have 80 subs... this is one of the best tutorials i've seen on color bass!!!
because dubstep is dead
@@syavochka ~24k views and +~900 subs and you say this genre is dead 💀

Curious how you got your voice so punchy on the outro. Distortion and some bass boost filter on the vocal? 12:25
