I've been heavily involved in Honda/Acura world for nearly 20 years. Two major issues with this car. 1 - Honda continues to strip cars to help Acura sales. They took away V6 in the Accord to help TLX sales. They took away from Si what it already had (heated seats, adaptive dampers and fog lights) to boost Integra sales (which they only made 6MT on the most expensive trim to further push you away from Si). They intentionally dumb-down engines in Hondas to boost Acura (2016 Accord Sport had same engine as the TLX 2.4 and ILX 2.4 but Accord had 189hp vs 200+ in Acura). Then there's the Canadian models. Same thing happened with the 10th Gen Accord; Sport in US was based on LX while Canadian Sport was based on EX. This current Si in Canada gets fog lights, turn signals in mirrors, heated front AND rear seats, dual climate controls, parking sensors front AND back, digital gauges, etc.). And when converted into USD, it's cheaper in Canada (26K USD vs 27K USD in US). There's absolutely no excuse to remove heated seats, adaptive dampers and fog lights that the 10th Gen had - and jack up the price while taking away what was essentially thousands of dollars worth of equipment. I could go on but you get the idea.
Couldn't have said in a better way. My lease on 2.0T Accord 6-Speed was up and only choice I got right now is a Civic Si as Honda took away manual from Accord but I jumped off the Honda boat. Not going to pay almost same for a Si what I paid 3 years ago for a loaded Accord.

The new Type R might be something I like but I expect $80-100K price once dealers get a grab of them because we all know that Honda corporate gives zero f*cks about keeping dealers from ripping people off.

Little late to the party on this one. Went to buy this 22 si 3weeks ago, but apparently all 22’s are sold and spoken for. Put a deposit down but need to wait 4-6 months for the 23. I’m in Ontario 🇨🇦
The rear door panels as well as the rear door inserts not matching the front one is completely unacceptable and my God how much more money would it have really added to the car to have the same material there!
Sofyan’s reviews are always my first stop by I don’t know why he’s comparing the civic si to a luxury brand, I’d like to see how it compares to other entry level compact sedans.
Wish it was a hatch. Wish that spoiler was body colored. Wish it had a manual parking brake. I'm OK with fewer amenities for budget performance. I want one and hope they don't become too heavily marked up because I think that would kill an otherwise ideal budget performance car.
Do a video on Canadian version . Has much more content than US version . It will get people complaining to Honda and get Honda to add equipment to US model.
there's also something known as tax and import and pricing cars with respect to purchasing power, gti in Canada is some 5000 US dollars cheaper in direct conversion rate, same with Elantra, alot cheaper in Canada. But Civic si is only 300 USD cheaper because they added extra equipment on it instead of making it ridiculously cheap in Canada like other car makers, convert prices of gti and elantra in Canada yourself and you'll know what I'm saying
According to dyno’s this car actually makes quite a bit more power then it claims, like 220 hp range at the crank. Also with an updated twin scroll turbo and VTEC now offered it spools 500 rpm sooner and holds a steadier torque curve
@@DJPleasureSeekingMissle according to C&D it’s half a second quicker, which is over a car length and is pretty good for the power advantage it has. Regardless, 0-60 times don’t tell the whole story. I’m sure in a roll it’s substantially quicker as it spools faster and has a much broader torque curve. Mod for mod the bigger, better turbo and the better flowing engine means the Si will make quite a bit more power with basic bolt ons, which is the whole reason you own a car like this…
We have the 2022 SI in Canada here. It’s silly to see how very much is included on the CAN version over the US version. Heated seats/ steering wheel, shift lights, dual climate. Wireless charging…. Not sure why they didn’t make them both the same. I think they also cost less after conversion too. I dunno. 🤷🏼♂️

I love this car so much but I refuse to pay that ridiculous markup which is 10K on average. For that type of money I could get a older model Dodge Durango.
If Honda and Acura isn't going to have imbedded maps/GPS in the Civic Si, Civic Type R, Integra A-Spec Technology Package, and the upcoming Integra Type S, the least they could is give Waze standard in place of a factory maps/GPS. Everybody knows Waze drains the hell out of your cell phone battery. Having Waze on the HondaLink Infotainment System and AcuraLink Infotainment System would be super beneficial.
The Si is solid, but for the money I don't feel like it's much better than the Elantra N-Line or Forte GT, and those offer a 7 SPD DCT. If the Acura Integra does come out with. 2.0t with at least WRX power at 271 HP and an available 10 SPD from the Accord instead of the CVT, I'd consider it. As of now, if I'm shopping this class I'd probably just spend 26k for the Forte GT. I'd throw in the Jetta GLI for conversation, but their reliability is so poor I wouldn't consider the VW.
@@steviewanderer5109 yes sir, I drove a 2020 GT around for about a week. Feels like a 6.5 second to 60 car, and handles well. Hard plastics on the doors are my only knock on the interior
@@cloudstrifex88 I can only speak from personal experience. I have two co-workers that have GLI's a 2017 and 2020 respectfully, and both have been riddled with problems. Also, I have owned and/or leased a 2003 Audi A4 1.8t and a 2014 2.0t and both had electrical problems, tail lights going out frequently, intake valve problems, burning excessive oil. coworkers 2017 Jetta GLI front axle assembly had to be replaced at approximately 60k miles. Perhaps overall they're okay, but my own experience and people I have known that had them within the past couple decades all complained they were money pits and will never get a VW product myself. Sad, because I like the way their products look and drive and would love to get a pre-owned S5, but I won't touch them just because of having to see and/or deal with the mechanical nightmares.
@@lions208436 2017 was before they got put on the MQB platform. I've not heard of any major GLI issues on the forums in recent memory. I personally have a 2018 Passat GT that has 40k miles on the old NMS platform with the VR6 DSG combo and it's had a few minor issues but all covered under the 6 year 72k warranty so it was no big deal. Wife had a 2015 Jetta 1.8t with 65k miles and didn't have a single issue other than replacing the standard brakes and tires. She traded it in for a 2021 Tiguan and has not had any issues either. I think the major issues can still happen but are pretty rare. But their reliability has massively improved since the early 2000s
If it had all the things the Integra has, and whatever else he's complaining it doesn't have, it wouldn't be a 27,000 dollar car. They had to compromise something to offer everything it actually does have, such as all the safety features that higher line models have for the price they sell it for. And the true mileage the car gets is actually better than what they advertise. In town I'm getting 32 and on the highway I get 44 with the cruise set on 74. I don't know what's wrong with the car they gave him. I run 89 in mine with no knocks even in sport mode. I bought the car because I wanted a new Honda, at the top of my list of wants was a manual transmission , and it was what they had on the lot. These days, you buy what you find thats in your price range , because you're lucky to find anything at all, new or used.
Kinda dumb to have a different spec for Canada IMO. Maybe you could get to the bottom of that and get Honda to share there reasons why. Its a good looking car that looks fun to drive with a real manual and can make decent fuel economy when you need it. Too bad its slow and doesn't rev out but its a Honda and its affordable.
Affordable? I guess dealers don't know that lol markups here are 7k to 10k over sticker smh if you're spending nearly 40,000 for a Civic Si you've lost the plot completely
Do the gauges both go blank when you turn the car off? Then it’s fully digital, whether or not both sides have variable info displayed. Youths today have never seen actual analog gauges.

I’ve had both a 2017 GTI and an 2020 86. Gti is probably the most practical as far as balancing performance and practicality. That being said the 2022 gti interior looks very nice but the touch screen makes me very hesitant to recommend it. The 86 I owned was a blast to own and I actually miss it. The only downside was the stiffness of the suspension On my commute I drive over some pretty terrible roads and it got uncomfortable for me sometimes. As of recently I’ve been looking into the SI for a seemingly nice balance of performance, practicality, safety, and fuel economy.
One color, wth! Civic red always hot. Gloss interior trim, when will they learn? It's just not necessary in a car that is so practical. Love how you always wish they added those extra cost "options" when vehicle costs are already ridiculous. Classic reviewer wish list creep.
Honda/Acura has lost me with their Marketing Decisions - so I'm going to keep my 2019 ILX A-Spec with the DC Auto and currently 23,000 miles. I'm beginning to think that Honda should cancel the Acura Brand and just go with Honda in the USA the way things are going. Putting a 1.5L engine with a CVT in any Acura is NOT "Precision Crafted Performance" - it pure Marketing
It’s a shame because the US spec Si has always been based off the EX and the Canadian Si is based off the Touring which is why they have so many more options on it compared to the US
What a disappointment. I don’t get why Honda continues to get cheaper and cheaper. They keep cutting features and driving up prices. Pretty inexcusable.
It's not affordable if every dealer is marking it up $5k - $10k. Why not call that behavior out? You get our views and try to sell us these vehicles, please do more to call out the manufacturer and their dealers!
Do a video of why different versions of same car in different markets. What drives the business model for saying stripping certain features like cooled seats in USA version and not in Canadian version.
I wish they had taken the hood cut lines down to the headlamps (same with the Integra). I’m not sure why all manufacturers are doing this, perhaps pedestrian safety?
I am an Honda/Acura fan ALL day and I feel that you can take the car to grave and back, but what the heck is going on over at Acura??? If there was EVER a time that two divisions of a company needed to be separated and run completely independent of each other Honda/Acura is proof. For example, why does the Integra have Honda Interior? Why does it look like a Civic? Honda/Acura chose to use almost the exact same bodystyle/Interior as the Civic instead of putting the necessary money into the Integra and creating something different OR atleast not using the same damn interior. With the every Honda vehicle from the Si, Accord, Civic, CRV, you can clearly see that Honda has a vision for their cars and where they are trying to go. Acura...has the Integra,TLX,MDX, and RDX. Two cars and two SUVs. The Integra is the more expensive and somewhat luxury version of the Si and the TLX is the more expensive luxury version of the Accord.. I have answered my own questions......Acura is not trying to be innovative, they are trying to provide alternatives to their Honda counterparts. BOOM! 😄😄. The ONLY innovative car they have produced within the last 10 years is the NSX and 97% of Acura’s customer base can't afford it. Unless Acura makes some drastic changes, they are not going to make it....
@@notoymotor4me64 1.5 is probably one of the worst motors honda has designed... ask any tuner. the heads flow like shit, the rods are super weak, the pistons are brittle, the main bearings are susceptible to premature wear with even modest increases in torque. None of this, except for the flow of the heads, is true about the comparably new 2.0t. The new K20c is pretty damn decent at holding extra power, and the 10at is also very solid. This car looks stripped to hell. How on earth do the other lower trims get a wireless phone charger option, and the Si doesn’t? And way too much cheap hard touch plastic. Gross.
I love your channel Sophyan BUT, here comes my big but… throughout the video you state that you expect more features in the Si. The Si starts at around $28k and if we go back to what the Si from yesteryears brought was that: simplicity and relative performance on a budget. A 1989 Si was sold new for about $12k back then and when you factor inflation guess what, it is about $28k of today’s money! How do we expect manufacturers to keep prices relatively affordable if we want our cars with everything on them? 🤷🏻♂️
Adaptive dampers, dual climate control, heated seats, fog lights, wireless phone charging…all things my 2020 Si coupe has that this car doesn’t. Should I just call it an Acura Integra?
Serious question.. how much more driving fun can you possibly have with a Civic Si vs. a Kia Forte GT? Same power, KIA offers better technology.. please don’t start with the “it’s KIA” 😂
Better technology??? This still has adaptive cruise control which is absent on the forte gt even on automatic models , this has a 9 inch screen with wireless apple carplay, and 7 inch digital gauge, while that has an 8 inch screen on Kia's older software with wired carplay, and 4 inch screen in between gauges. Little late to the party on this one. Went to buy this 22 si 3weeks ago, but apparently all 22’s are sold and spoken for. Put a deposit down but need to wait 4-6 months for the 23. I’m in Ontario 🇨🇦
How much deposit should you put for the 23?
@@japofe1696 I put 500
Wow, it’s almost as fast as my Accord Hybrid
Love my Cdn Si. Enough power, a capable drivers car and fantastic economy.
It's almost like Honda is allergic to customer's money. I got a 2015 TLX but I'm ditching Honda/Acura in the future for greener pastures.
Excellent review. Hey Honda, Central New England winter: need heated seats....my 2017 Si has them, and they are a joy.
The rear door panels as well as the rear door inserts not matching the front one is completely unacceptable and my God how much more money would it have really added to the car to have the same material there!
This is awesome and I love the MT, but I would love to see a DCT offered
They'll never do it. Acura should've put the DCT in the Integra since that's a luxury car and should have that vs CVT
Sofyan’s reviews are always my first stop by I don’t know why he’s comparing the civic si to a luxury brand, I’d like to see how it compares to other entry level compact sedans.
Love all your videos 💪🏼
Wish it was a hatch. Wish that spoiler was body colored. Wish it had a manual parking brake.
I'm OK with fewer amenities for budget performance.
I want one and hope they don't become too heavily marked up because I think that would kill an otherwise ideal budget performance car.
Can't wait to see the dealerships add 15k to the MSRP cause why not.
Sorry Redline but 0-60 in 6.5sec is a straight up lie, especially when others are getting like 7.4-7.5 on their best runs.
@Kimetsu87 - and then a Kona EV lines up beside the Si and smokes it…not right, Honda, not at all.
I own a 2022 Rallye Red civic sport 2.0 great little commuter car, Adds some kick when you put it in Sport mode.
According to dyno’s this car actually makes quite a bit more power then it claims, like 220 hp range at the crank. Also with an updated twin scroll turbo and VTEC now offered it spools 500 rpm sooner and holds a steadier torque curve
Who cares? It’s still about the same performance wise as a Civic Sport. The 0-60 times are identical. This car is kinda pointless.
Trash... 86 and BRZ are much faster
@@kobedabest as much as I'd rather have a honda you're not lying
@@delibrain916 pretty much chose a coupe or a sedan. that is all
@@DJPleasureSeekingMissle according to C&D it’s half a second quicker, which is over a car length and is pretty good for the power advantage it has.
I dunno. 🤷🏼♂️
Civic is probably Honda Canadas most important product it the best selling sedan for over 25 years

Did you not know about that before?
I love this car so much but I refuse to pay that ridiculous markup which is 10K on average. For that type of money I could get a older model Dodge Durango.
Honda needs to due what that did for the RDX and offer a SI with touring package to address those issues.
The 10th Gen Si was a blast to drive. How is this one almost a full second slower with the same motor and less weight?
this car is huge for the compact class.
The break-in period is completely ignored in press cars. How are these sold after the reviewers abuse them?
The Si is solid, but for the money I don't feel like it's much better than the Elantra N-Line or Forte GT, and those offer a 7 SPD DCT. If the Acura Integra does come out with. 2.0t with at least WRX power at 271 HP and an available 10 SPD from the Accord instead of the CVT, I'd consider it. As of now, if I'm shopping this class I'd probably just spend 26k for the Forte GT. I'd throw in the Jetta GLI for conversation, but their reliability is so poor I wouldn't consider the VW.
The forte comes very well equipped for that price, especially the GT2
@@steviewanderer5109 yes sir, I drove a 2020 GT around for about a week. Feels like a 6.5 second to 60 car, and handles well. Hard plastics on the doors are my only knock on the interior
GLI has been reliable for years. You thinking of the 90s?
I love your channel, but I've been noticing a lot of compression and pixilation no matter the quality I pick...food for thought.
If you’re waiting 2 months from July 6th for the Type R reveal, you’re gonna be really late to the party.
Omg send my your music playlist, your music is amazing!!
Did they get rid of the temp guage?
Honda has not failed to disappoint the last few years.
The 8th gen will forever remain the best
The last true Si
Kinda dumb to have a different spec for Canada IMO. Maybe you could get to the bottom of that and get Honda to share there reasons why. Its a good looking car that looks fun to drive with a real manual and can make decent fuel economy when you need it. Too bad its slow and doesn't rev out but its a Honda and its affordable.
I have this exact car and color, I love it
I have 06 civic ex coupe and 08 CRV ex. I love them. After these cars I don’t think I will buy a Honda again. I not a fan of CVT. My next car is Mazda.
I wish Honda packed the same features that they have in the sport touring Model into the SI !! 😢
Love all.your car reviews you do. How can I do what you do to test these cars for a week. I need a new thing to do since I'm a car enthusiast it fits me
They lost me at the 1.5L motor.
What’s the best daily a 2022 Civic SI, VW GTI, GR86 or a used Camaro SS?
I’ve had both a 2017 GTI and an 2020 86. Gti is probably the most practical as far as balancing performance and practicality. That being said the 2022 gti interior looks very nice but the touch screen makes me very hesitant to recommend it. The 86 I owned was a blast to own and I actually miss it. The only downside was the stiffness of the suspension On my commute I drive over some pretty terrible roads and it got uncomfortable for me sometimes. As of recently I’ve been looking into the SI for a seemingly nice balance of performance, practicality, safety, and fuel economy.
2022 elantra N
led lights will be expensive to replace.....i dont care about exterior lights, i dont see them anyway when im driving LOL
It’s a shame because the US spec Si has always been based off the EX and the Canadian Si is based off the Touring which is why they have so many more options on it compared to the US
I was shopping between the SI and a WRX. I ended up getting a WRX a bit under msrp, the SI's were being marked up by dealerships around me .
HAVE A GOOD DAY EVERYONE
Why would they come out with a new model and do absolutely nothing with the engine. Smart move. 200 hp for the past 20 years. Cool.
What a disappointment. I don’t get why Honda continues to get cheaper and cheaper. They keep cutting features and driving up prices. Pretty inexcusable.
how do you make the sunroof tilt open rather than open all the way?
Red seat belts = 5 horsepower?
jack of all trades, master of none
I started looking at one year old ones but it looks like for about 1,700 more I can be in a brand new one!
It's not affordable if every dealer is marking it up $5k - $10k. Why not call that behavior out? You get our views and try to sell us these vehicles, please do more to call out the manufacturer and their dealers!
I’d have to get the red exterior. There’s so much red injected into the interior that a clashing exterior color would piss me off lol
Also the sport models use the non turbo engine. so this is closer to 50 HP more.
I wish they put this engine in the fit. Or a tiny roadster.
Unless Acura makes some drastic changes, they are not going to make it....
i know alot of people have been complaining about the 1.5turbo reliability problems
the 1.5 is a ticking time bomb if you drive them hard. Heard of people blowing through clutches with no aftermarket performance upgrades!
Head gaskets suck on the 1.5t
Are all turboed cars ticking time bombs or just Honda's? Honda has been making turbo engines longer than you have been alive. Dumbcauf!
@@notoymotor4me64 1.5 is probably one of the worst motors honda has designed... ask any tuner. the heads flow like shit, the rods are super weak, the pistons are brittle, the main bearings are susceptible to premature wear with even modest increases in torque. The head gaskets blow at like 260 WHP..... the stock clutch is trash.... This is the reality of the 1.5. I am a fucking honda fanboy through and through. None of this, except for the flow of the heads, is true about the comparably new 2.0t. The new K20c is pretty damn decent at holding extra power, and the 10at is also very solid. The 1.5 is an eco engine and that is all it will ever be.
@@JJ-yu I appreciate the detailed reply. Honda should have known that these engines would be modded and should have been more robust. I apologize.
My 2019 Civic Si 4-dr is the best car ever. Not sure subsequent years lived up to the early ones.

This car looks stripped to hell. How on earth do the other lower trims get a wireless phone charger option, and the Si doesn’t? And way too much cheap hard touch plastic. Gross.
How does this compare to GR Corolla?
I love your channel Sophyan BUT, here comes my big but… throughout the video you state that you expect more features in the Si. The Si starts at around $28k and if we go back to what the Si from yesteryears brought was that: simplicity and relative performance on a budget. A 1989 Si was sold new for about $12k back then and when you factor inflation guess what, it is about $28k of today’s money! How do we expect manufacturers to keep prices relatively affordable if we want our cars with everything on them? 🤷🏻♂️
A lot of people will hate me for this but here I go. Honda give us a DCT every competitor does and the integra has it just put it in the SI
Except the Integra does NOT have a DCT. The two transmission options in the new Integra are a CVT or a six speed manual.

Serious question.. how much more driving fun can you possibly have with a Civic Si vs. a Kia Forte GT? Same power, KIA offers better technology.. please don’t start with the “it’s KIA” 😂
well the KIA doesn’t have an LSD, and the gearbox is inferior. So it’s tough to say without driving each one
