  • In this video, Mike Pitt goes over how to load the trail leg the correct way. Many amateur golfers have a sway in the swing in order to achieve the "weight shift". But this sway can cause many swing inconsistencies by changing where the low point of the swing is. By doing the drill Mike explained in the video, the golfer will feel the necessary muscles that need to be firing in the backswing.

Another nice drill from the Golf Pitt. Though my sway left the building a couple months ago [forward hip bump, thank you], this is a nice drill to reinforce what I need to feel in the trail leg. This drill is quick, simple and does nothing but engrain the correct sensation. 🤟

Great feel here, I really liked the take away drills as well. This has been a great sub for me, my issues are small, fundamental lapses, but they could fill a clown car. Thank you!

I tend to straighten my trail knee. I don’t feel like I get loaded into my trail knee well and I stand up in the backswing it seems. Thoughts?

Great stuff! At set up, should I feel more weight on my trail leg?

Great question. With the driver you would feel about 55-60% of weight on instep of trail foot… longer irons and woods your probably close to 50-50 or slightly more on front leg for a bad lie or knockdown and maybe a hair more on instep of trail foot if trying to hit it high!
9 iron and below I’m 70%+ front leg minimum. I don’t need my trail leg at all really to hit a max distance lofted club or wedge those I intentionally try to hit low to make them go further and more efficient and keep them out of the wind.
      Thank you for watching!

A really handy drill as I think a lot of golfers who sway in the backswing don't realise how much it affects their swing.

A stable, solid, loaded lower body is so important for a good golf swing!!! Thanks for watching.
