I self relax. I can't wait 3 mos. For me 8-9 wks max because my new growth is too much. I use those kiddy perms because they have the least amt of chemicals and it's straight enough for me. I use vitamin E oil on my edges daily and a little throughout my hair every other day or so...so I'm always prepped as far as my hair and scalp is concerned. I also use black seed oil and apricot oil on a regular and H20 everyday (I wear it down every blue moon). Never burn. No itchy scalp.
Little Momma That’s awesome! My stylist recommended I use vitamin E on my edges. Do you buy the oil in a jar or use the capsules? And I hear you on the new growth! 8 weeks still gives you enough growth to see your line of demarcation though, so that’s great. Whatever works! Thanks for sharing love! ❤️
@@AlexisKimberlyy Hi Sister, I use the oil. My brand is rexall naturalist vitamin e oil. You can use a few drops in food and apply it directly to your skin and hair. It only takes a little. Shalum (peace)
I self-relax my hair. I like to spritz my new growth with Scurl, and then apply Elasta QP, a favorite of mine. Before I relax, I apply coconut oil directly to the length of my hair. I try to avoid applying the oil on the new growth. Finally, I apply a mixture of castor oil and shea butter on the last two inches of my ends. This is to help protect against runoff. Thanks for the videos.😊
Very nice! Sounds like we've got a couple of products in common. Smart idea to protect against relaxer run off. When do you spritz the Scurl? Night before? Day of? And why do you avoid oil on the new growth? Thanks for sharing, love! Very helpful.
Everytime before I comb my hair, I give my scalp a light massage to get the blood flowing and determine if there are any dry or crunchy areas. If so, I spritz the perimeter of my scalp and the ends with the Scurl and then finger part my hair to spritz the other areas. If it’s very dry, I also use the Elasta QP (EQP). If it’s not very dry, I move on to oiling my scalp and ends. I do this on a daily basis and only on the day or night before, not the day of the relaxer. I try to avoid putting oil on the new growth the day of the relaxer, because my new growth does not relax well if it’s damp or too oily. I keep my scalp well lubricated and do not experience any scalp burns or irritation from relaxers.
Sonia Stovall I’m loving how well it seems you listen to your hair and adjust your routine accordingly. Thanks for sharing babe. I may give scurl a try myself. That new growth can get unruly!
Hey. I just wanted to say thank you for posting about your hair, its made me appreciate my own hair. i have the kind of hair that tangles so much. i tried to texlax but it still tangles a lot. I recently tried to relax it to make it straighter and ended up damaging it. after seeing how beautiful and full yours looks I've decided from now on to just embrace the fullness that texlaxing retains in my hair
pilgrim_thejourneyhome Aww I’m so happy to have been here for you in perfect timing! I’m also happy to hear you’re in a better space when it comes to your hair. Texlaxed hair is no walk in the park but there are also so many perks. Thanks for watching love and stay tuned for more! ❤️
Love all your suggestions! I may try the light blow drying to get through the relaxing process faster. I had to laugh about the itchy scalp before relaxing. It really is annoying! It's like the new growth monster knows what's coming so it knows to annoy you like crazy! I do a protein treatment the last shampoo prior to relaxing..anything to stop my breakage. I'm loving my texlax hair so please keep the videos coming and huge congrats on your new subscriber milestone!!! You deserve it!
Debbie Debeaux Hahahaha, YES! That itchy feeling is crazy that last week, more than ANY other week! 😂😂 I will do a protein treatment immediately following my relaxer and I regularly use the Aphogee 2 minute reconstructor on my hair so I’m usually good on protein. Try the blow out, it makes a huge difference! Even then, throughout the week my new growth coils back up a little, but it’s way better than not stretching at all. Congrats on the new hair journey and thanks so much for the kind words!! Stay tuned for more ❤️❤️
Great tips!! Well what I do is just base my scalp with any petroleum based product (Blue Magic Original, Aquaphor etc.) the night before and detangle my hair thoroughly in 4 sections the night before. Then the day of I will apply olive oil all throughout my hair and add a little bit of Blue magic Original on my ends and that's it! Tfs!
What are some of your pre-relaxer practices? Share the wealth, fam! xoxo
