Thanks everyone for the comments..I do apologize for the late replies to some people...I'll be posting a new video showing the new setup since changing boxes and with the system running...I have had no issues besides blowing the first P3 (melted the coil) I was over powering it with the gain...I would like to state again I'm a do it yourself person and in no way a professional..
Jacob McCurdy Not sure honestly. The bose head unit I think is controlling everything. My subs are weak and smell when I raise the volume up even when they are no where near distortion. Not sure what to do at this point.
Hey Man, still good video! You’ve shown me something that all of the other vids didn’t! You didn’t mention using the Threshold control though and you probably wouldn’t have had to have the Bass set so high!
your video makes the install so much easier. I have been struggling with installing the lc2i for 5 months. I have a 2013 ford fusion titanium and I am running a 10 in sundown woofer with 650 rms sound stream amp. now it sounds amazing compared to the pos loc I had. thank you.
Your video helps out 110%. I was going to buy and install EVERYTHING for 1100, which was way over budget and found out it was only really 600 for everything online if I do it myself. Thanks for your video!
Thank you!!! I had a problem with my sub output not working fully unless I would balance my volume to either left or right speakers. Now I realize I didn't have to hook up both speaker leads to the LC2i. Switched that and now my bass is banging
your video is the first one I could find of an ACTUAL install, I been wondering about if splicing off the rear EXACTLY like you did would give any resistance to the rear speaker it's attached to. but since you didn't mention it I'm going to guess it doesnt. I'm SO GLAD I found this video
mrosebro I tested the resistance when I installed the unit and did not notice an increase..This is why a made the video because I couldn't find anything either so figured I would make one to help others like myself out and save some people the time I wasted lol...
Everyrhing is pretty clear, just one question did you got signal from one single speaker and noticed you connect positive on the left speaker and connect thr negative on the right speaker?im planning to install this on my one.and want to make sure i do it correct👍
Great job on the video. Just installing this in next month or so. Big help. Like how you paralleled the power of the amp. Hopefully this has been a reliable set up.
Hey man! Im not getting any high freq bass or really low bass after setup. Hits hard on maybe 50-80. My factory sub has 2 terminals, 2 pos and 2 neg. Im running all into the lc2i left and right so slots are full. Thinking its a phasing issue. What do u think??
Sorry just relalized i already asked you a similar question. Anyways i figured it out. Just switched the polarity on the amp and it sounds awesome now!!
Have you tried turning up the accubass? Also you sure that you are tapping negative and positive and not the other way around? Also what car do you have year, make and model
Hey so I got my amp and sub hooked up and man it slams! Jyst w heads up if u want a little cleaner look you can open little side panel on right side of trunk ur factory amp is right there and u can tap into whatever speakers u want and it's all hidden so u don't have speaker wire hanging from factory Sub just a thought! thanks again for the info I got from u!
Good video. I was also told to put a 1A or 5A fuse in between the daisy chain of the power going to the LC2i. did you think of replacing the stock 8 inch Sub and then power that with the LC2i hook up you have?
I wanted to ask you a few questions. I’m going to install the LC2i . Did you tap into left and right rear speakers ? I ask because you have both RCAs coming out of LC2i and it looks like you have both wires going to positive? I tapped into right rear speaker for a signal for mono amp and was going to use small jumper wires on the + n - for signal on right output
I tapped into my factory subwoofer channel but any full range signal will work. Yes I use both the left and right side rca jacks from the lc2i to the amp. Not sure why you would need a jumper wire. Also not sure by what you mean by both wires going to the positive?
Nice vid!! Couple questions. When i tap into my factory sub i assume the factory sub will still play as well, do i need to dial down my bass at the head unit so it doesnt distort when i crank the volume? And did you bridge the speaker imputs into the lc2?
I would set the bass at the head unit at what you want to have your car speakers at for my car I have it plus three to the right of center. You can use the bass knob on the lc2i to increase from there. here's a quick ohms law calculator you can use to see what you are getting. measured at the amp for voltage need a 40hz playing while you measure. Yes I bridged it the way that the instructions show. www.ohmslawcalculator.com/ohms-law-calculator
Thanks I was wondering with my lc2i wasn't turning on even when the power was there. I didn't hook it up to the audio input first before testing. Going back and hooking it up now.
You answered a huge question weather I can use my amps Power and ground and just clamp it with my 0awg wiring thank you. Now my other thing is I just received this and realized my amp has a high input slot. But I think this should sound better so I'll probably keep it
@@greg0716 not sure if the LC2 I received was defective or not. Or the guy that did the install fucked it up but this thing blew my subs right away with my amp and LC2 turned all the way down. And I'm running a expensive set up Memphis prx1500.1 and 2 alpine type Rs at 750watts RMS each. Crazy how they seized up with barely any noice but they were in my last car making the whole block shake from a mile away. Oh well went to the shop and they said I have warranty and I'm having them check everything. I'll see what they say about using the LC2 vs my amps high input. hi man nice educational video just have a question. I just got my lc2i and I got a 4 gauge wire kit the part I'm confused about is do I need to feed the amps power and ground to battery and chassis? and have 16 gauge to the lc2i 12v and ground?
Anthony Gonzalez yes you still need to run power to the amp the way you normally would ... the only difference is you can bridge power and ground from amp to LC2i or you could run power and ground to LC2i and not have it bridged... I did mine the way I did so I wouldn't have 2 power and 2 ground cables running to the back of the car..
Do you have any issues jumping the power and ground directly from the amp? I am upgrading to this from a cheap passive one and I need to find the best way too power it. This seems like the easiest way for sure.
So, what could the remaining outputs on the Lc2i be used for? Could those be run to the door speakers..? I'm assuming not because it's only tapped into the low frequency signal from the sub? I understand the basic principle of this thing but am obviously a bit confused. LOL. Great video, thanks!
Jacob McCurdy Its not good to have something else dawring from tjhe same power because the power wire size is determinded by watts , if you have something else running from it the amp will suffer from it , its so small that it prob wont make much of a difference but its always better to be safe than sorry
You've tapped into the rear speaker and feed it to the Lc2i; can you please try one scenario for me, while listening to music you adjust the fader to only hear from the front speakers... would the lc2i still be able to work seeing only power is being directed to front? I am curious to know and it would direct me to proceed with either direct stereo head tap in or to go with your method and save me hours on time.
It helped me significantly and not only that but saved me so much time in planning. My thoughts were to tap into the head unit but THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH for telling me it would still power with speakers.
So you connect both the 16 gauge wire for ground and power of the LC2i into the amp WITH the amps power and ground cables? You don't have to splice into them? Thank you
Hey Jacob got exact same car and setup except I have 12 P3 and Prime 750w amp. Just curious how it's working out so far? I am about yo install everything this weekend! Also did you run the recommended 1 amp fuse on lc2i power wire?
DJT8508 no I did not... I have had no issue with the install so far...I did blow one of the P3's (melted the coil)....had to much power going to it changed over to a larger ported box and it sounds great...many people think I'm running 2 12's... they are surprised when I show them a single 10..
DJT8508 yes the 8 is still hooked up and fully functional I have not noticed anything weird from the 8 I did level off the bass from the factory speakers...so I rely on all the lows from the 10 and the door speakers... the 8 is more like a mid to me since it never really hit the lows..my ported box is tuned to 39hz.. two things about the fear of over powering the speaker... 1. Make sure you have your gain set right (no clipping) 2. Make sure your box is big enough..and you running ported or sealed? Birth sheet on my amp was 641rms..
How exactly did you determine that the black wire is the + and green wire the - to the factory sub? I can't find any wiring diagrams out there for 2012 Sonata.
charles boyd in the video I have the threshold almost all the way up I backed it down from that about a 1/4 of a turn. Your threshold maybe different depending on the sound you are trying to get
Hey bro!! Got it all hooked up. Sounds pretty good. But how do i need to set the lpf on the 500.1?? Im getting all lows and nothing from higher bass notes. I have the 500.1 rf amp, 10 inch p3 in a q bomb ported box. Thanks
The amp is what feeds the LC2I there is a fuse between the amp and the secondary battery. This setup has been changed many times since initial install. You can fuse it if you want..if you watch my updated video after this you will see the setup is totally different.. I have since sold the car and have a new system in my truck and didn’t have any issues running the system the entire time it was setup
Can I disconnect the stock sub completely and connect it to the lc2i and connect every thing else? Or do I HAVE to tap into the stock sub and still have it connected ? 21 Honda type r. Excuse my foolishness.
What type of wires did you use for the ground and 12v connection for the LC2i that is connect to the mono amp? Is it 14 Gauge wire? And where can I find this wire at?
What speaker should I use to replace in my front drivers door? I have the infinity sound system in a 2012 sonata, I was told it was sold as a component system snd I’d need to buy the whole set. Crutchfield only gives me specs for the stock audio system.
I replaced mine with a set of infinity speakers. You do not need to replace the whole system. I believe they are 8ohm speakers (it’s been awhile) you. An replace just the front speaker if you want
charles boyd yes the gain on my amp is set at a 3.5 this gave me the sound I wanted and did not produce any clipping I did try it out at a gain of 5 but at lower volumes it did not sound right..I set my gain based on the normal level I listen to my music at...and I am pleased with the level of bass at different volume levels
Cant find this info anywhere maybe you can help when connecting the LOC to the stock sub woofer can you explain it, i know you have to hook to a + and - of left and right but when tapping into the stock sub wires what wires are you hooking to this and what ones are left over and maybe not used, are you using the stock sub as the left or right or both?
Travis the sonata factory sub is a DVC I am only tapping one of the coils to get the signal needed for the LC2i. I simply tapped Negative and Positive and run that to only one of the LC2i negative and positive terminals (if you pause the video at the beginning where the instructions are you see that they have a negative in the far right and positive in the far left and this is the way i did it on mine ... almost like a bridge). I have a set of empty negative and positive terminals on the LC2i that are not used. I have hooked up the wires to both terminals of the LC2i and did not notice any difference... hope this helps.
Make sure you play a 40hz 0db sinne wave test tone & have your Headunit play 75% volume and then go to the back and make sure that the gains on both amp & lc2i is turnt all the way down . And even accubass. Slow start turning the “Bass” knob up until you see the maximize light go steady then back it off a lil until you don’t see the light anymore . I recommend using a dd1 or a dmm to check how much voltage it’s putting through the rca and make sure to match the input Rca voltage and never go above as that will result to a over power bad signal . You want a good steady clean signal . Make sure you have threshold turnt all the way up as that will have it on constantly and then play with the accubass knob very slowly . It can spike up the voltage going out . Good luck
thanks for post Jacob. quick question, I've hooked mine up exactly like how you have it, but found that both the amp and the lc2i stay on even after turning off the car. have you had this issue or do you know why this is happening? any info is greatly appreciated.
+Jacob McCurdy hey Jacob, I have a 99 Cadillac deville, base model, doesn't have the bose system, running a crunch power zone pz1500.1, and a 12" solo baric kicker. I did replace the rear deck factory speakers with rockford fosgate primes. come to think of it, I tapped into the speaker terminals and not the factory wiring. that may be the issue.
MrMeseUfa That shouldn't be the issues because it would get the same signal from the speaker terminal that it does the wires themselves does the radio stay on? Have you tested the terminals of the speaker you are tapping to see if the speaker itself is still getting power after the car is off?
MrMeseUfa also are you still sitting in the car after you shut it off? And seeing that the two units are on? Or are you leaving the vehicle and going to truck to see that they are still on?
+Jacob McCurdy i have to go to the trunk. when I get there both the amp and lc2i power lights are on. I think they even stayed on overnight the first night.
Hey I'm thinking about getting this in my truck. Have jl j 750 and 2 12inch tw3 d8's kn stealthbox. The nose factory system is fucking it all up I've heard. Will this make a difference? Dont want to change the factory head unit so if this device dont fo the truck I'm selling everything n starting over.
Where did you get the harness that you connected to your factory rear speaker/subwoofer harness that you tapped into? I am going to be doing this on a 2016 Accord in a few days!
Jacob McCurdy okay I see what you did so is your factory sub still playing with the Rockford sub? It looks like your harness is still connected to the factory 8" sub. Thanks for the quick reply
Miles.Mindset yes factory sub is still hooked up.. I have since switched boxes and subs. Now running a skar audio 10 sub and a ported 1.5 cubic inch internal volume box.
Jacob McCurdy So did you do most of your sub volume control and tuning from your amp for the aftermarket sub? Would you recommend leaving the factory sub hooked up? Thanks for all the help man!
Raheel Ahmed no the LC2i is turned on when it senses a signal from the speaker and then turns on.. this then sends the signal to the amp to turn on...this creates a small delay when the car is turned on before the sub kicks on which I like because I tend to not turn down my radio wen exiting the car..
Depends what single you are trying to get. The LC2i is built for bass amp and main amp since I was only using it for subwoofer amp I just tapped the subwoofer. If I was doing a 4 channel amp I would have tapped a full range speaker.
@@catdaddy7909 that’s not how DVC subwoofers work. There is no left or right on a DVC Subwoofer. You either wire them in parallel or series to get the ohm load at the amp you want usually Dual 2ohm or Dual 4ohm are the most common DVC sold. Wiring a DVC 2 ohm in series creates a 4ohm load. Wiring a DVC 2ohm in parallel creates a 1 ohm load which the sub in the video is wired to 1 ohm. The left and right inputs on the LC2i are only to grab multiple signals and should not even be labeled left or right imo because the LC2i does not have a balance control or fade control this still happens at the head unit. If you tap into a full range speaker signal you would still only need one input and if you only needed the lows for a subwoofer you would let the cross over on the amp to turn it into a low range signal to the subwoofer. The extra input is there for flexibility depending on where you are getting the signal from in your vehicle and what you plan to output it to. Hope that makes sense
Alejandro Vences the LC2i has inputs for a sub amp for lows and main amp for inside speakers. so you can run 2 amps off of one LC2i do your amps have built in crossovers? How is the wire coming from the head unit? Is it ran parallel? What ever signal you grab from that's what's going to be coming from the amp. Example Sonata uses total of 7 speakers 1 channel for tweets in dash and front speakers. 1 channel for rear door speakers and sub. So if I were to grab the rear door single and run highs it would not work. I would need to have 2 LC2is or the LC7i.. hope this answered your question..
greg0716 main knob dosent matter what position it’s in unless you hook up an amp for that channel... the maximize light should flicker and never stay lit all the time...
Thanks for this video, VERY helpful. I also set up my sub with a LC2i but when I turn off my car, the amp led wont turn off. Would you happen to know why?
How did you wire the remote wire? hard for me to possibly figure out not knowing how you wired everything up. If you can give me more information might be able to help.
Sunny Basra yes I used 12 ga power and ground from amp to LC2i remote also goes from LC2i to amp... when LC2i sense signal from tapped speakers coming on it turns on the amp about a 2 sec delay before sub comes on from when head unit comes on
so when I installed my subs and the lc2i i dont get really good bass. I have the bass and acubass all the way up. makes very little difference. anything i did wrong?
gilbert reyna no my factory amp handles all other speakers the infinity system in the Sonata is more then enough for me I just wanted more bass so I added the sub
WIZARD Z I ran my 12v from my amps power to LC2i same with ground amps 12v comes from battery like normal setup so I only have one power wire running to the trunk of my car.

Anita Wommack the LC2i is a 2 channel unit so yes you could use it for a 4 channel amp for door speakers if you wanted to
the only thing is you shouldnt connect it to your amps power wire and ground , they should have their separate power source
zorhis1996 just curious why? I have inline between the two. Been running since install no issues.

Jacob McCurdy One more question is your factory 8in sun still hooked and are u getting any odd sound from 8in cause of pressure differences?
Matt Kearns her Matt it was tested with a volt meter but I was also able to find wiring diagram as well
Where did you get the wires from for the lc2 ?
when connecting the factory speaker wire to the LC2i, did you just plug it into the +/- for the left channel within the LC2i?
Yes
where did you have your threshold set at on the lc2i?
charles boyd in the video I have the threshold almost all the way up I backed it down from that about a 1/4 of a turn.
Thanks
I think i have it on like 80 now
I usually set mine to 80Hz for LPF
Do you not need a fuse between the LC2i and the Amp? I would think you would want to at least put an inline fuse there for protection?
The amp is what feeds the LC2I there is a fuse between the amp and the secondary battery. This setup has been changed many times since initial install. You can fuse it if you want..if you watch my updated video after this you will see the setup is totally different.. I have since sold the car and have a new system in my truck and didn’t have any issues running the system the entire time it was setup
@@jmccurdy2009 Thank you!!!
I just used regular copper 18 gauge wire you can get this wire from home depot, lowes, walmart, auto parts store ect.
Do you run the power wire for the amp from the battery under the hood.
Yes
What speaker should I use to replace in my front drivers door? I have the infinity sound system in a 2012 sonata, I was told it was sold as a component system snd I’d need to buy the whole set. Crutchfield only gives me specs for the stock audio system.
I replaced mine with a set of infinity speakers. You do not need to replace the whole system. I believe they are 8ohm speakers (it’s been awhile) you. An replace just the front speaker if you want
Sorry one last question. What gauge wire did u use to tap into factory sub??
I would have to double check but its either 12 or 14 gauge
Thanks for the video, should I run a dedicated power wire from the battery to the lc2i? Jumping from the amp to the lc2i is ok?
Gil T it's up to you I read other comments from people jumping it which is why I did it.
Yes you should and add an inline fuse
Lol
Awesome thanks for the info
Very helpful! Thanks man
and also did you ever turn the gain on the amp back up after you tuned the lc2i or is it unnecessary to do so?
charles boyd yes the gain on my amp is set at a 3.5 this gave me the sound I wanted and did not produce any clipping I did try it out at a gain of 5 but at lower volumes it did not sound right..I set my gain based on the normal level I listen to my music at...and I am pleased with the level of bass at different volume levels
Great Vid !!
I have hooked up the wires to both terminals of the LC2i and did not notice any difference... hope this helps.
just installed mine! my maximize light does not light up at all tho. is that ok?
greg0716 same here I don’t know what’s the problem
Good luck
With you only using the lc2i for the subwoofer did you just use one speaker input? If so that will save me a ton of time and money.
Elder Toad yes only one speaker output
Jacob McCurdy Did you bridge it between the two or only use one side?
Elder Toad I bridged it like the instructions show on the diagram. If you pause the video at the beginning you will see what I’m talking about.
That sounds good
thanks for post Jacob. quick question, I've hooked mine up exactly like how you have it, but found that both the amp and the lc2i stay on even after turning off the car. have you had this issue or do you know why this is happening? any info is greatly appreciated.
MrMeseUfa mine shuts off when I shut my car off..what's the Year, Make and Model of your car? Also what factory system do you have in your car?
DOME KNOCKA how are you currently getting signal to the amp? Does the factory radio have rca out?
Where did you get the harness that you connected to your factory rear speaker/subwoofer harness that you tapped into? I am going to be doing this on a 2016 Accord in a few days!
Miles.Mindset I didn't use a harness to tap the wires of my factory sub.. I used wire taps that you can buy from Walmart
Jacob McCurdy How does the SKAR 10 sound?
I always thought green is positive black negative that's how I have mine set up
What gauge wire should I use for the ground and power to the lc2i
Brad Johnson 16-18 gauge should be fine
you gave a remote out connection from lc2i to the amp remote, did you use any remote in to the lc2i
Raheel Ahmed no the LC2i is turned on when it senses a signal from the speaker and then turns on.. this then sends the signal to the amp to turn on...this creates a small delay when the car is turned on before the sub kicks on which I like because I tend to not turn down my radio wen exiting the car..
thankyou , can i give remote out from lc2i to 2 amplifiers
So you only need to tap into one speaker? I’m confused because it says left and right
Depends what single you are trying to get. The LC2i is built for bass amp and main amp since I was only using it for subwoofer amp I just tapped the subwoofer. If I was doing a 4 channel amp I would have tapped a full range speaker.
@@jmccurdy2009 I’m trying to get signal to two additional 6.5 speakers and tweeters I’m adding.
@@Jose-ew6hj you only need to tap a full range signal then
That one speaker is actually a dual voice coil speaker so it is left and right. I don't know if he used the left coil.
Good video
Would I need a cross over for a sub amp and highs amp even though I'm using the Lc2i?
Is it worth it?
Where did you purchase the blade taps to tap into the sub?
Josh Lofquist Walmart or you can get them at auto parts store or Amazon
Sweet thanks!!
and do i need to turn the main knob all the way down since im not using my mains? i noticed yours is in the middle
greg0716 main knob dosent matter what position it’s in unless you hook up an amp for that channel... the maximize light should flicker and never stay lit all the time...
@@jmccurdy2009 oh ok! But its ok if mine doesnt even flicker?? I have plenty of bass
On my lc2i the power light isn’t lit up and the maximized light is solid. What do you think is wrong
Yea I have never had that issue where are you getting your signal and power from?
Defection
do you have a acr2 installed in the lc2i?
WIZARD Z no I do not
Thanks for this video, VERY helpful. I also set up my sub with a LC2i but when I turn off my car, the amp led wont turn off. Would you happen to know why?
How did you wire the remote wire? hard for me to possibly figure out not knowing how you wired everything up. If you can give me more information might be able to help.
The rca cables you have connected to the top of lc2i the bass output. Are those running to your amp?
Sunny Basra yes
Jacob McCurdy and then power was connected to lc2i was from amp. And you put nothing in the remote in on lc2i
Sunny Basra yes I used 12 ga power and ground from amp to LC2i remote also goes from LC2i to amp... when LC2i sense signal from tapped speakers coming on it turns on the amp about a 2 sec delay before sub comes on from when head unit comes on
so when I installed my subs and the lc2i i dont get really good bass. I have the bass and acubass all the way up. makes very little difference. anything i did wrong?
What car do you have? Also what speaker/s did you tap to get the signal for the LC2i?
My lc2 powers up but wont cut off... Any ideas why?
How do you have it hooked up? You using remote in or the signal sense?
@@jmccurdy2009 I took it back to the shop... they have a new one ordered
What about your highs amp no highs
gilbert reyna no my factory amp handles all other speakers the infinity system in the Sonata is more then enough for me I just wanted more bass so I added the sub
OK thanks was just wondering
how did you connect the 12v power?
WIZARD Z I ran my 12v from my amps power to LC2i same with ground amps 12v comes from battery like normal setup so I only have one power wire running to the trunk of my car.
im trying to find the color for sub wires on the amp as we speak
do you remember the colors to tap into?
WIZARD Z negative =green positive=black
WIZARD Z I'm assuming you have a Sonata
No I have an OPtima but its the same shit
I have a negitive green but my positive is pink
If i want to add a 5 channel JL audio 900/5 amp
hvcool not sure what your asking here..but you can use the LC2i with a 5 channel amp.
