- In order to add an aftermarket amplifier to a factory car audio system we need a way to convert the high-level (speaker level) signal to RCA low level (line level). For years the AudioControl LC2i active line output converter has been a proven solution that helps restore bass and achieve high quality signal output. But vehicle technology is advancing and along with that advancement comes new challenges that require new solutions. AudioControl's new LC2i PRO line output converter helps solve these issues! Let's take a closer look in this product overview video.

AudioControl - Making Good Sound Great
This dude is the best car audio fella on the RUclips. Just bought the lc2i pro... They should be paying him well... I'm sure he's responsible for a ton of sales
This is the ONLY video that CLEARLY tells you how use and set up Accubass. THANK YOU. MUCH better than the completely unhelpful video posted by Audio Control themselves.
Watching in 2024 and your videos have saved me. I just finished making a custom fiberglass “stealth” but not so stealthy box for my 2016 GTI and I’m moving into the speaker wiring with the stock head unit and amp and this…is what I needed. The explaination and video unpuzzled my puzzled mind (also with a LOTtle help from my older brother s/o to him as well). He sent me to watch this. Keep doing great work man.
OMG this is one of the best explanation videos I ever see. Thanks
You are so incredibley helpful!!!!! Thank you so so so much! Saved me so much work from tearing apart my car to remove the stalk amplifier!
To me a strong, clean signal going in to your amp makes all the difference in how your subs will sound 👌..This little gadget makes that happen..
Absolutely!
What's the best wire to get
Awesome video and tutorial on how this puppy works. You are amazing and cannot wait to hookup on my Denali using the subwoofer wiring. 👏🏼❤👏🏼
Almost threw the pick away. Thanks!
Just upgraded the 6 speakers and added a 4 channel amp and subwoofer amp along with 10" sub. Man it doesn't sound all that great. I'm pretty sure I'm going to need one of these but going to go with the LC7i only b/c it has 6 channel inputs just enough for 4 channel amp plus sub amp. Thanks for the video keep them coming
"
one thing u didnt mention the regular lc2i rolls off bass under 33hz the pro lets u get that low bass down to 20hz much better i am upgrading asap
Hi Mark, I'm from Canada, province of Quebec, and it is amazing the good job you've done with all of your video !!! If I had a chance to get internet when I was young I wouldn't blow out few 6x9 ! lolll Pretty good instruction on LC2i.
How about the gain on the amp? What do I set that too when setting the bass output level on LC2i Pro?
Holy crap. Wish I had one of these 20 years ago.
Man this is a great video! Glad I found it . Thank you for the information.
Mark's fab kitchen 👌
Gonna try this one out for my 2014 A3 Sportback with B&O system 🙂
Couldn't decide what I wanted to get. Was gonna change my head unit. Decided on the pro. Gonna push 2 skar ix8 subs and Memphis prx60c in the doors on a Memphis prx700.5 5 channel amp
watch the Video you did about just the regular LC2i. I plan on buying the pro version for an install In my ladys car !! Thank Mark for the knowledge and the time for the vid
This is an awesome video and helped me decide from the LC2i vs the Pro. AND using the Sub out instead of speakers on rear deck. GREAT VIDEO! New fan! Thank You!
I have a 2019 Ford F350 B/O OEM sub, which color wires do I use to connect the lci2 pro? Thank you
On 2019 f150 b&o sub wire there is 4wires due to stock sub being dual voice coil So I need to know if I am only installing one JL audio tw3 dvc sub would I use two wires or all four into lc2i pro?
so is it better to use your stock sub signal
Hi! I installed a JBL BassPro SL2 powered subwoofer on my 2016 Volkswagen e-Golf (non Fender audio) by tapping the front speaker outputs and connecting them directly to the sub’s high level input.
I noticed the head unit output now clips at a much lower volume and it gets unusually hot. It is impossible to set the sub amp gain as the levels are all over the place and slight changes to the amp gain cause the sub to cut in and out.
I verified the polarity of all connections on both ends and everything seems alright. I would assume tapping into the speaker outputs effectively lowers the impedance seen by the head unit onboard amp causing it to go crazy.
Wondering if using an LC2i instead of the sub’s high level inputs would make any difference.
Where should I be doing the 12v connection to power the unit? Could I just wire it from the positive terminal on my amp since that's 12v constant? Or do I need to find a wire somewhere in the car to splice off of?
i’m having the same problem right now did you figure it out?
Hear anything ?
I would use a distribution block to tap off the larger gauge 12v source that is from the battery.
You jump the wires from the head unit right into the lc2?
I have a question. If my car doesn’t have an amp built into the stock system. My rear speakers which I’m tapping into. Will those be fine to run a high’s amplifier and a low’s amplifier?
Do you turn the head unit all the way up to set the level?
So I have two remote bass knob. One is the RF T-1500 BDCP PEQ remote and the other is for LC2I pro remote bass, which one should I use?
Got it I'm tapping into the wrong wires I'm using my rear left and right doors when I should just be going from my Infiniti QX50's sub. I thought any input would work obviously I need to rework the system and it seems much more streamlined coming from just the sub thank you! Your videos are super helpful man thank you
Doesent matter.converts highs to lows anyways
which lci pro should i buy if i want to tap both subwoofer and midrange speaker sending outputs to two sperate amps
When running test tones for mids and lows. Do I need to adjust stock stereo bass/mid/treble to zero?
Where do I get the 12v constant power from? The battery?
Question? When im setting my bass output on the lc2i pro. Do i need to turn the bass knob all the way up or down? Or does it even matter?
where do you install that 1amp fuse for the 12v power wire?
As close to power source as possible
So with the lc2i pro I can add both a monoblock amp for bass and 4 channel for mids and high’s?
I need to know the same thing
@@ericsohood25 you can I got my system installed with both amps on the lc2i pro
About to try this soon, I wired my lc2i pro with the two front speakers, currently only have my subs with amp , I’m adding a 4 channel soon , can I use the lc2i main outputs for the 4 channel amp? Even though the lc2i is only grabbing the front speakers outputs? Basically asking if I can wire all 4 door speakers using the output of the 2 front ones
Love it great job explaining helped out a bunch
Excellent video!! Thanks for detailing this, I am about to install 1 of these in my 2019 Rav4, without Premium audio, & I do not have a sub output from stock head unit. I plan on just adding a powered sub, do I just tap into front or back full range signals, & use the bass output signal?
GREAT VIDEO! - So, question....since now I'm going down a rabbit-hole....lol. I recently followed your video to an exact tee and coupled this with the instructions on how to set up my sub amp (JL Audio 500.1). Now, I recently found some info on using an Oscilloscope to SET proper GAINS. Do I still need to get one if I followed all you instructions in the video or does this negate the need for an Oscilloscope?
So what if I want to connect a bass amp and voice amp do I grab the subwoofer signal and a full range singla to connect into the lc2i?
just bought one of these for my veloster turbo. I tried a kicker loc first and it really did not like my factory amp signal. Let's hope this does the trick!
Have any update cause I got the kicker loc too and it doesn’t work for a 4 channel amp it produces engine wine found out the kicker loc is only for subs not door speakers.
So I've just installed the Lc2i pro in my new system. I kept the stock head unit, I only added a sub and I spliced into the left rear speaker inputs.
I cranked my volume to 75% ( my speakers are quiet even for stock btw). So, I start turning the bass output level, and I hit the max but with no maximized light. I assume the signal just doesn't output enough because the speakers are quiet even at max volume. I left it at max, and then moved on to the acubass, turned the threshold all the way up and never got either light to come on, when I turn the acubass level to max, still no light. I finally said I'll leave It all at max, now the acubass decides it wants to cut on whenever and my L7 q-class will BLAST for a few seconds and then the feature turns back off. To clarify, this is a head-unit problem correct? I want acubass to stay on constantly while music is playing even if I turn the acr-1 all the way down. I've even tried turning up the head unit bass level but then the speakers start to distort. Do I need to replace the head unit (I really don't want too)
I had the same issue I just turned the volume up on my head unit then started getting the max light. But I was damn near at full volume but I also have a shitty 2014 Silverado ltz factory radio so it’s a total turd
Hey Mark how are you. Question can i tap into my factory subwoofer 🔊 wires on the rear on my car or is it better to tap in from the harness before the factory amp ??
I have a premium stock amp that uses fiber optic back to the HU them the HU control is pushed out to speakers 12 , In using the audio control unit I am begging the question , is there any back feed and reverse polarity that will damage the OEM premium amp or cause the OEM amp to react abnormally with the addition of The LC2 on the system
What gage of positive wire do I need coming from the LC2 and Is it a fused positive wire? Do I connect it right to the battery?
you can connect it to the amps power / ground with a 14 guage wire. the power line between the amp and the power in of the lc2i should be fused with a 1amp fuse. HEY i finally answered something about car audio. guru status
Awesome video, Just what i need
I’m looking to add an amp for the door speakers! As well as the sub will this work
Question! If you have a bass control knob that connects through rca cables where do u get the input from
Thanks for the video, great stuff.I have a question about my current build. I have AudioControl LC7i Black 6-Channel Line Output Converter, 2 after market amps(4ch amp and 2 ch amp(for subs) connecting to a factory Ford radio(i have no choice of using an after-market radio). I'm running 125watt rms to the doors(4ch) so I will use after market speaker cable, not factory internal speaker wire. So with this, im thinking these speaker wires will connect from 4ch amp to the door speakers, which makes sense but my question is where does the 2 sub speaker wire connect from the LC7i to the harness(im using PAC LPHFD31 harness) as the harness will only have the 4 pairs, not 6 which I would need?
So here you say use output depending on what you need. So if I wanted to add amp for mids and highs and one for subs what would be the best route?
Nice job with this video. This sounds like what I exactly need for my new Ram 2022 2500 with basic 6 speaker system!! What shall I do if I want to run a 5 channel amp? Which input? Fronts?
Can you use remote out for 2 amplifier s and question since upgraded my components speakers with my stereo off tweeters noise making me crazy 🤪
Can the L/R RCA output of the LC2i be used to supply PA speakers instead of a car subwoofer?
Thanks in advance.
Which do I tune first the lc2i pro or my amp?
I'm going to add two 12-in Kicker competition R's to my 2022 Palisade calligraphy Edition. It has the Harman Kardon 630 watt system with 7.5 inch subwoofer in the rear. Going to buy the LCI 2 Pro to tap right into the existing wires in the luggage compartment. will the LCI 2 Pro handle the already crossed over signal. Do I need a DSP? I have very little punch and almost no real low end. The base roll off is horrible in that system as well.
@Mark. Where can I find a schematic for my vehicle's audio wiring? I need to find a solid spot to tap in to for my LC2. Thank you for any help.
Hi, nice video! Could you use both outputs at the same time? Got a amp for the mid and high frequency, and a mono amp for sub.....
dam can you use the other rca for your high and mids ? can you use both sets at the same time? all these videos never talk about the main rca ports
Can I use Lc2i on aftermarket radio if yes the installation will be done the same way as the factory radio
So to be clear I can run a 4 channel amp and a mono amp at the same time right?
Hi mark I have a question can I use the same installation with a after market radio # Tesla screen thanks
With the remote out wire to the sub amp can u run a nothing wire with that to a second amp?
How is the 1 amp fuse connected?
How does the acubass get adjusted when using the bass knob!??
If I already have a remote bass knob on amp should it still use the knob for the lc2ipro?
Excellent Video Mark. I have one question, once you configure the Bass Output and the AccuBass. Would you THEN set the gain on the AMP?
Yes, you are correct. You'll want to first find the max undistorted output from your source unit, then set your LC2i Pro, then set the gains/crossovers, etc. on your amplifier. Hope this helps, and happy holidays!
@@AudioControlCar quick question I'm setting up an install in a factory bose car. Do I need to unplug the factory speakers when running test tones to set my gains?
Does it only do signal for Bass or can the LC two pro do mids amp
Thanks for the video. Unlike your example, I want to connect BOTH main and bass to 4 channels of amplification. So, according to the manual, the ONLY difference between the two is the bass output has a non-defeatable low pass filter and the output level can be controlled via the remote knob?
Can you use wire from your factory sub wire to lc2i in a 2011 ram has factory amp
Hi, nice video but i have a caution about the remote for the lc2i pro and what happen if the amp have a remote too? So wish one i will use?
Your preference
i purchased an LC2i pro at a garage sale for a few bucks. its new in the packages, doesnt appear to have ever been installed or used. however, it's missing the ACR-1 knob control. do i need the knob for this unit to function or can it be run without it? Also, can i pull signal from the rear speakers themselves for my sub, or will it require connection from the back of the stock head unit?
Hope you respond! I need help.
JD1000.1 pushing 15" Kicker CVX, with LC2i
1000 x 2 = 2000.
sqrt2000 = ~44.7 = target voltage
So I:
-75% volume 50hz test tone
-Set LC2i just a hair before 'maximized' light turns on.
-Amp gain all the way down still reads about 56, higher than voltage.
(ALSO - do I set inputs to low level when running from LC2i? - is this where my issue lies?)
BUT, if I set gain to hit the clipping indicator light on the amp itself, the voltage reaches like 75.
As of now, it sounds way underpowered. I had a 12" with 400 watts and that was louder. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong and what I'm missing.
A little confused why these two numbers would be vastly different - target voltage v. clipping light voltage.
So would this work on my ford f150 with the sync 1 sony sound system
If I have a audiocontrol acm-1.300 do I still need lc2?
Hi I just hooked up the lc2i and my mono amp and sub. The lc2i only turns on when I turn my volume up loud. Isn't it supposed to turn on just from the signal? Please help!!!
Do I need a lc7i pro if I have A factory radio that didn’t come with a amp?
Is the LC2 different from the epicenter
Can I use 3 channel's of a 5 channel amp woth this ?
How can it help with bass when I don't have a sub in my set up but still getting bass but it roll off
beautiful video
It's perfect!
Awesome video. Great and direct info. All I’m thinking is with some factory stereos there are no eq’s. What’s your fix?
Hey man! Ive tried calling audio control for some help and no luck and commenting on various videos with no help either. Long story short, i have kicker everything, i had the kisloc2 before i just recently got the lc2i installed, best buy did everything. Now, before i got it installed, lets say you turn the music all the way down, but the bass knob is still up. There was no kind of added noise of any sort coming from the subs or speakers, as it youd expect. After getting the lc2i pro installed, say you do the same thing, volume down or no music playing but bass knob is up, there is a low grumble kind of noise coming from my subs that wasnt there before. It gets louder when you turn the bass knob up all the way, but if you turn it all the way down, that noise goes away. Is there something wrong? Bcuz ive taken it back twice and the installer told me thats how it should be. But i have a gut feeling its not haha.
Try the ground switches on the loc to take away that hum.
@dc4l677 I did, no luck! But.... after finding one of the rear plastic panels by the rear seat loose, i lifted it up just to see because you could see all of the wiring, its all wired to one side, power and cables from the deck. On a lot of if not all videos I've seen, they should be ran separately from eachother right? Like power cabels on one side, cables from deck on the other?
@nike11397 yeah you want to keep them separated at all times, and try not to let them touch any metal. I wrap my wires just in case.
@@dc4l677 bestbuy installed all my shit, lol. So I'll have to take it back and have them rewire
If i have aftermarket head unit... Do i still need this LC2i-Pro?
How do you add more rcas for more amps ?
Let’s say I get a lc2i pro with an amp for 2 subwoofer. Can I install an audio control epicenter but also use the regular bass that the amp has for the subs? Or that will burn the bass amp? (Idk if I explained my self)
How do you tune that if you haven't tuned your amp yet?
They way u explain it- it seams like u can only add 1 amp. Either bass amp or highs amp only. Is this true??? Or can u add front rt n lt speakers n have highs amp n bass amp- both??
Is it possible to use the full range and subwoofer outputs from this unit at the same time? Want to add subs and replace the 6x9s in my rear deck with a amplified set
Yes of course
Great video! I am looking to get the pro version for the load resistor’s for my challenger. Does the lc7i have load resistors like this one? If not, what are my options as my factory system does not have a full frequency range signal? Every speaker in the car has a different signal (tweeters, mid base and factory subwoofer)
What if i want both low amp and high amp?
i have an old nakamichi a1 amp which i want to connect with subwoofer. I don't know what those ground controls are but i think my amp is grounded. Anyway would this be a good device for my home system?
Ok. To set up accubass. Does the bass on the HU need to be reset to 0 or does it need to be set first at good bass before the bass rolling out?
I would have your eq flat
Will you need a cross over when you are using LC2ipro?
Did it replace the LCQ1?
Can I use any type of copper wire to tap into subwoofer signal
I have a question, what if our vehicle does not come with a facotry subwoofer, would it be better to tap into the rear or front channels to connect to a lc2i pros speaker inputs for a subwoofer?
Rear
So is the sub crossover point customizable like the older Audiocontrol crossovers or just a generic starting point and to be more install specific and/or to have subsonic filter you’d need another processor after it?
If your amplifier comes with a dash control knob too, which should dash control should be used? The ACR-1 or the amp's knob?
Depends on the amplifier make/model, but generally, we would recommend using the ACR-1.
Guys you have to put out more content.
Thank you for the feedback! We are working hard to put out more video and social media content than we ever have before. Thank you for being patient and supportive while we get things rolling!
I have a BMW with the Harmon Kardon system quantum logic surround sounds excellent! (Includes 7 x 26mm metal-matrix dome tweeters in the dashboard, front, side and rear, 7 x 100mm ALumaprene midrange speakers in the dashboard, front, side and rear, 2 x 217mm woofers (central bass) below the front seats, Harman Kardon Logic 7® DSP amplifier in Class-D technology with a total output of 600 watts includes 16 speakers). The audio quality is excellent, but i feel the factory underseat woofers lack that deep nice bass i crave. Will this work for my application? Or should i go wiyh the lc7i or jl fix 86? Thanks your the best!
This would certainly work for your application. The LC2i PRO will not only work for your vehicle, but it will also give you a nice clean, hot signal to send out to your aftermarket amplifier(s). There is likely no need for an LC7i in your application.
What do you use to connect the RCA outputs of the LC2i to the simple speaker wires
Where can I find testtones?
Mark will i need one of these and or an ampro ch41 for my jeep gc ?want to add amp for doors first.
