@@horsewnoname872 That was a good bike. I sold it to a subscriber. He brought it back to my shop in April and rode it 105 miles with us, during the Spring Ride that I hosted.

Mike-As a young boy growing up in Iowa I had a CT70 and wish every day that I still had it. I'm on the lookout for one I can fully restore. Emarald green was the color, believe it was a 1970. I actually was riding it one day and forgot to put the gas cap on. Flames started rolling out from under the seat. It leaked on the battery and ignited. Very sad!
Thanks so much for this Vid. I see in the background, a bench with a floor vise, very good. Show us your shop please. Maybe you have before. Carry -on.
Great video bud bud, I’ve been looking forward to it all week.i feel your pain with getting sized heads off. Youshould do a barn find will it start video again
Be interested to see you do a 190/212 build one time, be good to see you build something custom and fast then test ride it to get a reaction to a big fast motor in.
I did all that years ago. I don’t really need to go 60+mph on one of these anymore. I’m quite happy with just the little bit of extra power the 125 provides.
Hey Mike, where do you like to buy your Lifans at? Just need a 125cc manual for my CT200 project, nothing fancy. I enjoyed watching this video, my 64 CT200 engine was in about the same shape as this one. Took one look and immediately decided it needed to be Lifan swapped.
Another great video, Mike. Thanks. I have a quick question about your builds. In all of your videos I have watched, I don't think I have ever seen you have to replace wheel bearings, and I expected you to have to do it on this one. Are those stock sealed bearings so go that they rarely need replacing? Thanks for all the videos.
I only issue I can think of is the starter being in the way of installing the engine guard…..if it’s a bottom mount starter. Other than that, it should be a bolt in engine.
PB Blaster works wonders, spray everything and give it a chance, probably could have saved that float post and gotten the head off easier, instead of manhandling it.
I really wasn’t interested in waiting the 3 years it would take for the PB to do its thing. Honestly, the first half of that video was just for entertainment, I had plans to put the Lifan in from the beginning, that’s why it was on the bench.
Thanks Mike for the GREAT video. Always learning something from you. Did you use the intake that came with the Lifan motor for that NIBBI Carb ? What's your thought on that carb so far ? What jet set up did you install on the carb ? I bought that same 125cc engine for my Ct-70 build. Thanks Mike
Thanks! Yes, I used the Lifan intake. I like the carb. It bogs just slightly, if you crack the throttle too quickly. Rejetting would probably solve that, but I don’t have other jets. As long as I don’t crank it too fast, it works wonderful and I’ll keep it on there.
Wow, Mike! That was a beast! ;-D Just pulled the trigger on an Icebear from CajunMaddogs. I want to make it into a loose replica of my blue K3 from my youth. Wondered about the carburetor upgrade. In the video you mention a 24mm but in the description you show a 22mm. Which would you recommend to upgrade the Champion?
Because I choose to have my bikes look as stock as possible and use the stock exhaust, mine typically hit somewhere 52-55mph. I’m seldom on roads with limits above 45mph. But, with a free flowing exhaust, 17/32 gearing, fresh wheel bearings, brakes that aren’t dragging, etc…..you can get one set up to hit between 60-65mph.
Thanks for the reply Mike. I’ve been trying to decide if the 125 would be adequate or if I should pay the extra for a 140, if it’ll sit at 50 on the flat for 4-5 miles that’ll be fine.
@@MiniBikeMike Hey Mike, thanks for responding. Yes I’ve bought parts from him before, I’ll check that out. My dream for this particular bike is to switch to 125 cc motor even though the current motor works just fine. That’s a good opportunity to switch the harness and also make it street legal. Love your channel. I can’t get enough of these little motorcycles! Also hoping to go on a ride at some point.
Lol, in a hurry but looking forward to making the time for this one. Quick question for you - ever had one of the ‘91-‘94 models? I have a ‘91 and a couple ‘93’s. With 4x10 tires and upgrading turn signals, I’ve found them to be the very best in dependability and ride compared to my K0 and K1. Any thoughts? - Really enjoy your work - Thanks
Agree 100%. The 90’s bikes got the 12v engine with CDI….huge improvement over the early bikes. I’ve never owned a 90’s bike, but have ridden a couple. Over the past couple years, I feel they’re finally getting the interest they lacked for a very long time.
Going to have to put a 125 cc on this one. That engine is shot! Still makes me wish I still had my childhood CT70. Just have to upgrade and be happy with my icebear Champion!
No Sir, the engine is not shot. It needs TLC from someone who knows what they're doing. I'm a Honda Pro Technician and have been restoring all types of bikes for 40 years. I guarantee that I can get that bike to run good as new with nothing more than gaskets. The last bike like this I restored sold for $4700. So save your hurtful comments.
