Hello everyone and welcome to this massive art haul video! Settle down with a drink and a snack while I share over 100 items with you. I've been saving up lots of smaller art supplies orders over the past few months so that I could put them all together into one big haul! I'll show you the materials I bought and tell you why I chose them. Some of my favourite products are in here along with some new ones I haven't tried before. We have acrylic gouache paints, Wallace Seymour vintage watercolours, brushes, paint markers, paper, sketchbooks, coloured pencils, fancy brass pencil sharpeners, Derwent palettes, and a lot more! Thank you for joining me and I hope that you enjoy the video. Natasha xxx Thanks to @Notes in the Margin (aka Dominic) for helping me with the thumbnail for this video (he was the one who said I should put my face on it, so blame him, ha ha!).
Glacie, Yes! I agree! Natasha, I wasn't a big fan of blocks either, but for paintings, they can have a place. I recommend practising removing a couple of the sheets before painting, to give you some piece of mind.... and you know, you can remove every sheet, and use them loosely if that would make it easier for you 😊 Nell. Ooh! And I love big art hauls!!
I use a plastic letter opener that is very like a bone folder. I feel both have a gentle enough edge not to damage the paper and a thickness to gently prise the paper apart. Once started it is really easy to separate a sheet and remove it. I have often seen palette knives suggested but imo they are too thin and the edges too sharp. If I hadn’t already got this letter opener which has a bright parrot at one end I would definitely have chosen a bone folder.
I ❤️ big art hauls, I ❤ you and I always look forward to your videos. Thank you for sharing with us your art, art materials, thoughts, advice, time and the kindness of your heart. The world stops and gets better when you appear on my screen. Love and hugs from California.
THANK YOU Dominic for the BEAUTIFUL photograph of Natasha in the thumbnail!!! I think you’re beautiful on the inside and outside and I love watching and listening to your videos!! 🎥
Thank you for showing all your goodies ..I loved watching you talk about and show everything. The big block of black watercolour paper that’s gummed around the edges. If you look around the edges there should be a small section with no gum on it.That is so when you have finished your work all you have to do is slip one of those small palate knives in and gently go around the edges ,thus releasing the painting from the pad ..I loved that little travel palette at the end .It’s one of the cleverest and well designed ones I have ever seen so far ..
I love big Art hauls!!! My Vanilla Caramel coffee was extras tasty as I watched all your goodies!!! Might I suggest Arches ROUGH cold press wc paper for some of the beautiful paints you picked up? Ohhh you'll love it!!! 🫂 🤗 Laura
Natasha, I truly do love big art hauls- specifically your large art hauls. In all honesty, I love all of your videos. ❤️. Over the past couple of years I have used your videos to help me choose new art materials & have been so happy with everything I buy based on your videos. THANK YOU for sharing!!!
I love big art hauls and yours especially. I also love my Wallace Seymour Turner colours from Choosing Keeping. In fact I have nearly used them up, and am so glad you shared another site for purchasing more. I am really looking forward to seeing you swatch the palette you put together.
I adore big art hauls! Also small and medium sized ones :D I love nothing better than to drool over art materials and gloat over them after a purchase! I love the Jackson's own Studio Sketchbooks, it's great quality paper and takes watercolour washes really well, it can curl a bit but I put the pad under a pile of books after the paint has dried and it's fine. I'm a big fan of all of the Stonehenge pads, I got a bit obsessed with the tiny pads a while back and got the 15 pack, it was like a gateway drug to the bigger pads! So good to hear your voice again, looking forward to seeing you having fun with swatching! 🐶
Really enjoyed this one, as always! I was delighted to see the Derwent tinted charcoal set - I recently bought one second hand to be able to slip in my pocket on longer dog walks so very much looking forward to your swatching and commentary on this!
Thank you for this wonderful video!!! It's MASSIVE!! I love making haul videos too, but I don't think I have one that's this massive. LOL. The palette looks GREAT!! Can't wait for the video of filling it!
Thank you! Here's a link to the video so that you can see which colours I decided to fill the palette with: ruclips.net/video/-1kz1RqgpWQ/видео.html :)
OMG what a whopper. I love big art hauls. So excited to see the swatching of all of them and see your beautiful creations from them. Thank you so much Natasha pleasure to watch as always.:)
For colors that we say we don’t like that much or are not drawn to….whatever, they can easily become colors that we love, or at least like a lot. I think it must be the psychology of being drawn to something you rejected and then it can become like something new and fascinating. This has happened to me with ORANGE. I think it began with quinacridone gold, that I’ve had for a while and as most of you know, is a vivid golden orange and one of my faves. I then found out about Daniel Smith Aussie Red Gold that is much like Quinacridone Gold, but I think even brighter and more vivid. I went out and got some right away. And then I got a Daniel Smith dot card and used a Transparent Pyrrol Orange and really liked it. And I had already had salmon and peachy pastel colors that I love . So I guess every major color group has its allure if we open our minds to them. ❤
I ❤ big art hauls! Interesting watercolours… looking forward to seeing you swatch those because who doesn’t need more watercolours.. oh, wait, I don’t! I ordered the brass pencil sharpeners and pointers for my daughter and I. Interested to see how the pointers work! Have a fantastic week.. love autumn!
I ❤ big art hauls. Your channel is one of my absolute favorites and always look forward to seeing what you have or what you’re painting. Lovely painting style.
Hauls are like early Christmas presents, even if we buy the products ourselves! Etchr wrapped the sketchbook in plastic cause the cover is a canvas so we can paint on it and they need to prevent it from damages. Honestly, acrylic paint is much worse than a thin plastic film, acrylic is plastic too! I didn't know it was vegan friendly, thank you for that, I can buy one now!! :)
You're right, and this is something that really bothers me about working with acrylic based paints. I think about it a lot, but I also don't want to work in *just* watercolour. It's a tough one! I'm just trying to cut down on plastic wherever I can, and sometimes companies seem to use so much cellophane when it's unnecessary. It's a lovely watercolour sketchbook though - one of the best I've tried!
I think you're right. The plastic *does* help protect their products that can get water damaged on their long journeys from Australia. "Double-bagging" does seem excessive, though. And hi, Natasha if you read this! Lovely haul. I've started watching your videos again and am inspired to paint after a long dry spell. ☺
I love big art hauls - especially yours! As for the papers in blocks - I use Hahnemuhle watercolour paper (The Collection - cold pressed and 100% cotton - I think you'd love it) and I use palet knife to separate the paper from the block. At first I was so frustrated, but then I tried with a palet knife and ... Bingo!😊 A big thank you for the video, and enjoy the weekend! ❤
I always use a metal palette knife that is more on the sharper side. Honestly I polish and sharpen some of my palette knives that I use to make my watercolor paint with, to be able to scrap off the paint from the bottom of my 8Lb glass muller ( yes it is absolutely GIGANTIC) the 8lb glass muller does all the work for you, smaller glass mullers make you have to press extremely hard for the smaller partical sized pigments. The massive glass muller is a God send for mulling "pain in Arse" pigments lol. But anyway, I sharpen some of my palette knives for making watercolor paint and I've learned that the sharper palette knives are much better, easier and have a Cleaner removal for taking off the watercolor paper from a block. Blunt things like bone folders rip up the gum on the sides, leaving pieces of gum the build up on the side of the block ( gum becomes much higher than the paper surface. It is a pain in the bum for taping around the edges with the gum sticking up higher than the paper....which can lead to paints seeping under the tape ) and it leaves alot of ripped up and torn pieces of gum on the edges of the paper that is removed. When you use a sharp palette knife, you can literally just pull off the gum around the edge of the paper in 1 long, eas strip. The bone folder or blunt objects also leave indents on the next paper surface, and smooth down the cold press surface texture on the new paper underneath. A sharp palette knives cuts through the gum like hot butter and leaves no damage to the paper underneath. When you put the knife in, tilt the palette on a very slight angle, with the tip being forced upwards a tiny tiny bit on the underside of the paper you are removing ( very very slight angle, don't go 45° 🤣🤣) and it cuts clean smooth and fast, with no damage at all - to both the top paper, and bottom paper....and the gum is cut clean and flush with the next paper on top. The metal palette knives are extremely thin and have a flexible blade, they bend very easy when pressed on the desk surface, and they bend right back into shape. Don't use a plastic palette knife! It's gotta be metal... usually the really cheap palette knife sets on Amazon are like $10 - usd. The cheaper ones always come thin and sharp lol. Like I said a bone folder always left a smoothed down indent on either the new sheet below, or the edges on the paper you remove get very wavy and stretched oddly. Hope this help and have a great day Natasha 😊.... and yes I made it to the end, and beyond to write this lol 😆
I was watching a video of a watercolor artist who uses the blocks of paper and she said there is a one inch gap on the side of the block of paper where it's not glued down. So you can slip a fingernail or bone folder in there to separate the paper from the block. I'm not sure if that is the case with the brand you are using, but it's worth looking for. I love big art hauls!
Hello lovely Natasha! Lovely art haul as always. That greyish green(turner acryla gouache normal range) looks like wonderful colour to have! I understand your thoughts of brands using too much plastic! Thank you for speaking about this out loud! About cold press and hot press papers, I feel hot press papers are great with acryla gouache. :) The Frazer price palette box is gorgeos! wow! thanks for almost an hour of company, I enjoyed it a lot :) I LOVE BIG ART HAULS
Thank you, dear Kriksis! I noticed that you have a new video up and I'm saving it for tomorrow because I haven't had time to watch it today. I'm looking forward to it. :) The plastic issue is really beginning to bug me, especially when there's no need for it. I'm currently working on a new range of stationery products/illustrated goods, and we're trying to make sure they're as sustainable and eco-friendly as possible. I will definitely try working on hot press paper with acrylic gouache, thank you! x
Yep, love big art hauls. I toured the Blue John caverns in 1991, just me and my hubby with the guide. Not for claustrophobics! Some of those passages were really narrow. Thanks for sharing all of your goodies, look forward to the swatching.
Hi Natasha, I use a palette knife to remove the paper. You want to hold it at an angle and press upwards so you don’t touch the paper underneath and gently move the knife around all sides. Take your time with it 🤓
Hello Natasha. I love watching your videos, including your hauls, but as time goes on, I do wonder how you store all these art supplies and how you keep track of what you have. I know you’ve touched on pencil cases etc and shown your studio before, but your art materials are growing at a rate of knots😂 An update would be very interesting. Thank you for all you share!💐
Who doesn’t love a big art haul?! (Well , apparently one viewer, but there is always one grump🙄) I am interested to see those Wallace Seymour watercolors swatched out and I love that you bought that Frazier Price palette for yourself. I bought one when they reissued them and I love it. Thank you for sharing your bounty with us. Looking forward to future demo videos.
I LOVE BIG ART HAULS AND I CANNOT LIE!! 🥰🥰🥰 all the supplies look so promising, looking forward to seeing what the Derwent paint sets look like, and the Wallace & Seymour watercolours too. I saw Oto Kano swatching a blue from them and I’d never heard of them before that, so I’m nosy lol
Also, I use a palette knife to get paper off blocks, but I feel the same as you. Someone here suggested a bone folder used in book binding, they have soft edges so it’s a really good idea 👍
Thank you for taking the time for sharing your big art haul!! I always enjoy seeing your goodies and hearing the excitement in your voice. You can surely brighten my day, Natasha. You might find it interesting that you have slowly inspired me and I have begun to love a mutual palette!!😍. I’ve always liked an olive green, earthy gold, deep burgundy and navy and recently noticed those are the main colors I always choose for my home. I’m surrounded with moody colors… lol. For some reason I painted in more bright palette which is fine….. but the moody colors are “calling me “…lol You have definitely given me some items for my shopping list. Again, thank you for sharing. It truly WAS a huge (big) art haul!!! Nancy Rolfe
I'm so excited for Part2! VERY curious about the Jackson's studio sketchbooks, I haven't found ANY reviews yet. ....and my gosh that watercolour palette/container is just fabulous. It might be a worthy case for all your beloved Payne's Gray! I love big art hauls!
I love big art hauls💚thank you for keeping me company over afternoon tea☕️can’t wait to see what you think of the Wallace Seymour vintage watercolours, their sets on choosing keeping look so beautiful and unique
I use a wooden knife or letter opener. Initially I used a sharp X-Acto knife and that really gave me more trouble towards cutting the paper to my surprise it was easier with a non-sharp object. As someone else mention, an open section where you see sheets and not gummed to start, the one I’m looking at is about a 2” slot. I’m just getting ready to swatch some Turner acrylic gouache, I’ll be looking forward to all the video’s from this art haul. Thanks!
I LOVE big art hauls!! And This one must be one of the absolute best ones EVER! 😍 It’s like christmas in September, super happy for you and can’t wait to see what you‘ll make with them, looking forward to the swatch party 😊
@@NatashaNewtonArt I forgot to say, both Saxe Blue Pencil as well as the Parchment Acrylic Marker I own as well and first thing that went through my head when I swatches them was „Natasha would love them!“. Isn‘t it sweet how we all seem to know your color preferences so well at this point? 😛
I love your taste in color😍 I dont use them personally doesn't fit with my style but they are so beautiful 💙 I use cheap plastic ruler to separate paper from a paper block. It's kind of scary because it feel that you are damaging your painting paper but it really doesn't do any harm
Wow! So excited for the swatch video it’s going to b amazing! I absolutely love big art hauls lol great selection as always and that new pallete box looks beautiful can’t wait to see what u do with it❤
Aw, thanks Amber! I'm so glad that you enjoyed the video. You are cordially invited to the Swatch Party, happening on a RUclips channel near you soon! xx
You can use a small palette knife, normally it will have a gap on one side that isn't glued. You can insert the palette knife into it, and slice around the paper to release it xx
Hey Natasha, great video as usual! Most blocks that are gummed all around should have a corner where is it easy to slot in a thin palette knife. I love the ones that are gummed all around when I am doing a lot of wet on wet work. I love big art hauls!
I love big art hauls! That brass palette box looks wonderful. You have so many lovely watercolours to choose from (and even more after this art haul!) so I’m really curious to see which ones will make it into the box. Decisions, decisions!
I REALLY do love Your large art hauls. I live vicariously through you. Lot's of product I would love to try but can't justify the purchases. Looking forward to the swatching!
I have the round brass sharpener. It's amazing! Nice and heavy and good for all my pencils. Sharpening pencils is one of my favourite things to do 😂 specially the ones that smell lovely and woody. Looking forward to your swatching. Green makes me happy, all your greens look beautiful. 💚 And yes, I love big art hauls too 🥰

@@MoniDmajor Ah, thank you! x
I use a bone folder for removing sheets from a paper block. It's nice and gentle
Great idea! I have one of those. I'll give it a try. :)
I use a round tipped palette knife but the bone folder sounds like a lovely idea.
Glacie, Yes! I agree!

I can’t wait to see what you create for that beautiful golden palette it looks so vintage and classic. ❤
Hi Natasha, I use a palette knife to remove the paper. You want to hold it at an angle and press upwards so you don’t touch the paper underneath and gently move the knife around all sides. Take your time with it 🤓
I will give that a go, thank you!
I love big art hauls! Enjoy all your new purchases! 😊
Thank you, Martha! x
WOW! What fun! I love big art hauls! I'd love to try the Wallace Seymour watercolors and the tip pencil sharpeners.
Art haul is always favourite to watch❤ Thank you for sharing these colorful paints.
I love big art hauls. I love the swatching even more! I’m very excited to see you try the coloured pencils,x
The best haul I have ever seen ❤
I'm so glad you got the Seymour watercolours! I've been looking at them for a while. 😊 And the Derwent set! Love these big art hauls. 🤎
I love BIG art hauls! Great haul, looking foward to the swatch video, TFS!
For some reason I painted in more bright palette which is fine….. but the moody colors are “calling me “…lol
You have definitely given me some items for my shopping list.
Again, thank you for sharing. It truly WAS a huge (big) art haul!!!
Nancy Rolfe
I love big art hauls. I enjoyed watching your massive haul very much 😍
I'm so excited for Part2!
I love BIG art haul videos and can't wait for the BIG swatch video!!
Looking forward to swatching video ❤
That's such a lovely comment, Moni. Thank you! Oh yes, I should definitely call it a swatch party - I love that!! x
@@MoniDmajor It's so lovely, and quite touching!
Lovely supplies here - I'm looking forward to the swatching, especially the colour pencils and the acrylagouache!
I love big art hauls 😊...and good to see a few things that I had been wondering about.
❤❤ super long hauls…especially yours! Can’t wait for the swatching follow up video!
Hi Jill! Swatch Party coming soon! ;) x
I ❤️ big art hauls! I use a bone folder or a letter opener when removing a sheet of paper from the block, which works well for me.
I love your taste in color😍 I dont use them personally doesn't fit with my style but they are so beautiful 💙
I use cheap plastic ruler to separate paper from a paper block. It's kind of scary because it feel that you are damaging your painting paper but it really doesn't do any harm
I love big art hauls
Three cheers for big art hauls, hip hip ...
Hooray!
Always love your art hauls… in fact I love BIG art hauls 🎉❤ xxx
Wow! So excited for the swatch video it’s going to b amazing! I absolutely love big art hauls lol great selection as always and that new pallete box looks beautiful can’t wait to see what u do with it❤
Aw, thanks Amber! I'm so glad that you enjoyed the video. You are cordially invited to the Swatch Party, happening on a RUclips channel near you soon! xx
I love big art hauls! I have the FP brass box and haven’t filled mine either. I’m going to fill mine with you. Can’t wait! 🙌🏻🎉
How lovely! x
Love big art hauls! And I love a good swatching session, as well, so I’ll be looking forward to that
You can use a small palette knife, normally it will have a gap on one side that isn't glued. You can insert the palette knife into it, and slice around the paper to release it xx
I may give the palette knife a go! I have some fairly long, flat ones. Thank you, Naomi! x
Hey Natasha, great video as usual! Most blocks that are gummed all around should have a corner where is it easy to slot in a thin palette knife. I love the ones that are gummed all around when I am doing a lot of wet on wet work. I love big art hauls!
I love your big art hauls! Giving me so much inspiration! Can’t wait to see the swatching 😃
I ❤ big art hauls! Can't wait to hear how you get on with the Legion paper.
Thanks Jennifer! x
That brass palette box at the end is a stunner.
I love big art hauls! That brass palette box looks wonderful. You have so many lovely watercolours to choose from (and even more after this art haul!) so I’m really curious to see which ones will make it into the box. Decisions, decisions!
I LOVE big art hauls.
I LOVE big art hauls! And all your videos!
Thank you, Deena!
I love big art hauls!
I REALLY do love Your large art hauls. I live vicariously through you. Lot's of product I would love to try but can't justify the purchases. Looking forward to the swatching!
Thanks Erica! I'm so glad you enjoy them. :)
