@@HONG38 You can’t put a graphics inside a laptop. There isn’t enough space, like at all. It only has enough space for what it already contains, which you can only replace, not add to.

I suggest removing the battery first (when possible) before ever opening up and disconnecting anything from the internals of a laptop. Then before proceeding any further, hold down the power button for a good 10-15 seconds to drain and residual power from the system.

Great video thanks so much for posting - I've done this a few times already and needed a quick reminder on the steps so this was super helpful - one piece of advice for newbies I would recommend however - before you screw in the base as shown in the video, flip over the laptop and make sure the ribbon is all the way through and easily accessible and properly attached - so pop everything back together and attach the keyboard etc and then attach the battery and power on and verify that your ribbons are properly attached as its a huge pain to discover something is not connected properly and then have to unscrew it all and fix. Obviously be very very careful using the laptop while it is not screwed together, then when you know it is working screw it all back in place and you are good to go. Thanks again PC Monkey!

This is the best vid on this I found for my Dell, may be because it is in english. The others do not even have text as to why the keyboard has to come off. Some people seem to replace the drive without cloning which seems strange , if you were not setup with a usb to install Windows from. You can get a "toaster" (10-$20) to put the old drive in to read off old files , or clone the old drive onto the new drive thru a usb port.

Thank you x 10! I have the same laptop that you're using in this demonstration. Bitlocker locked my HDD or partition. I could not boot into Win 10. I was able to get bitlocker recovery key, but I had no record of the password. Regardless of inputting that 48 digit key I could not boot into windows. I could not disable bitlocker on that drive/partition. A tech aquaintance suggested replacing hdd. This vid gave me the knowledge and courage to do so. However, at one point I thought I had fried my mother board. And I followed the steps in pc monkey vids on what to do if machine turns on the off...steps for discharging static charge and for resetting bios. Things didn't get righted until bios reset step. At that point the laptop started to have some response but I had a black screen. Then I listened to pc monkey vid on what to do if you have a black screen. That's when it all started to come together. I had popped my ram card out during the 1st video, this video, to get the info off of it incase I wanted to add more ram later. I did not re-seat the ram card properly. Ounce I did that I was able to reinstall windows 10. I wolud have never been able to do this and recover from my own ineptness, misstake, without pc monkey. I'm going back to all the pc monkey videos I viewed to get me back up and running and give each a thumbs up. The videos are practical, instructional and to the point. Thanks for not adding unnecessary stuff that make vids un-necessarily longer than needed. Big fan an new subcriber!
P.S. Does PC Monkey have instruction on my original problem saving my data and wiping my old hdd. I can't at this point save data or wipe the drive because of the locked partition. I tried connecting drive via sata to usb. Drive not showing in 'this pc' or disk management.

I have the Dell Inspiron 15 3000 series but I couldn’t get the back cover off after taking off the keyboard etc.
My back cover had a partition that’s held in by a screw so out of curiosity I unscrewed it and removed the panel.
This was the HDD and RAM panel so I didn’t have to remove the keyboard and DVD after all.
I guess that the 3000 series has other models.

Hello, thank you so much for your very helpful informational video, I have a couple of questions, though. if you don't mind.
mine is a SSD hard drive, I believe same as your video.
my question is, do I need to reprogram once I buy the new bigger one?
this would be my first time doing it so do I need to store the software, or how do I transfer the system files to it?
and if is not too much to ask , which SSD drive would you recommend buying?
    thank you!!

    • @PC_Monkey
      @PC_Monkey  2 года назад

Yes, after installing a new drive, you would need to install an operating system onto it. Unless you use software to clone your existing drive to the new one first. I usually keep my Amazon Store of recommended computer related items current and currently have couple drives that are usually pretty good / easy to work with here; www.amazon.com/shop/pcmonkey/list/151Q0TXYMND7O
Hope that help! Let me know if you would like further assistance :)
For help installing Windows 10 for free, refer to this video; ruclips.net/video/ULrJVk4JJ20/видео.html. You can create your own Windows 10 install media for free as seen here; ruclips.net/video/g_UhiHScaSI/видео.html. If you cant create your own, you may have to purchase it.
