    Excellent video, as always! I already put in 3 hours on this plane and am blown away at how on-task you have to stay with it. Normally my flight simming consisted of takeoff, climb, coffee break, cruise, coffee break, descent, coffee break, approach, landing. Now I feel I no longer have time to lollygag about with the sim, and I don't mean that as a complaint. Best $30 spent. 10/10 video.

    Now with the oncoming Black Square Duke series we have a good comparison of the same plane but with two different engine types: piston and turbine. Seeing this is so strange I always thought a small GA aircraft turbine like the PT-6 is very complicated to handle with lots of things to take care off and lots of things that can go wrong, while a piston engine is simple as a car: turning the starter key over and fly away.
    Seeing the Duke series I was very surprised that it is vice versa, the turbine is the easy one-click-engine fully controlled by some electronic control unit, while these old 400hp piston monsters from the seventies have a lot of exciting details to take care off, for example not pulling down the engine lever back to idle too fast or it will go out, several different starting challenges (vapor lock, cold oil, hydraulicking, pre-heating the engine with a butane gas blower, manually letting just a bit of fuel into the pistons before starting her up, and many more things to take care off like unable to air-start an engine again when prop feathering is active and locked after all oil pressure was lost in the propeller govenor.)
    Thanks to the ultimative Black Square realism I finally found out that a real GA airplane is in no way simple as a car or an Airbus! But a truly deep and exciting machine.
    I hope you will make a few long flights with both the new Dukes too :)
    The Dukes are gonna be even more exciting and deep and study-level than this already very amazing Black Square Bonanza was.

    OMG! I’ve got a real 737 pilot flying my favorite new GA add-on for Microsoft flight simulator! How freaking cool is this? As a real-world single engine instrument pilot I feel that this channel is definitely making me a better SIM pilot and also a better real world pilot. 😊😊

      Hey man I’m training to be instrument rated any tips?

    • @Senor0Droolcup
      @Senor0Droolcup Год назад +2

      @@idekav. That's awesome! Key thing. is having an instructor that's a good match for you. Everybody has a different style: a CFII that's right. for one student may. not be right for another. Show confidence in the cockpit: if you convince the examiner that you know what you doing and will not panic, he's more likely to cut you some slack. Remember that ATC works for you. Don't be afraid to politely negotiate with them when appropriate. IFR flying means making good decisions but also taking ownership: show your instructor that you;'re ready to break off an approach rather than force something that's not working: that's what you'll be expected to do in the real world. Lastly, instrument flying is about discrete "modules" that are strung together: "brief the approach", "join the glideslope", "configure the plane for approach", "transition to cruise climb", etc. Practice all of these things on their own on the ground and get them organized in your head. Like flashcards: how to I configure my plane for fling the approach: flaps, power, speed, etc. If you have the checklist for all of these individual modules memorized, much easier to string them together.
      Lastly, and this is really important: learn the power/pitch settings for each key airspeed for your plane: Vy, Vx, approach speed, etc. Ask your instructor and the school's head instructor to help you learn this. You will be MUCH better off when you can just pitch X degrees and set power to Y to achieve a specific airspeed. Will make everything much easier.
      I look forward to welcoming you to the instrument brotherhood/sisterhood soon!

    I don't know why MSFS wants all aircraft to use approach flaps for takeoff. This is not normal procedure for the Bonanza and most small aircraft. Anyway, I want this and the analog Baron as soon as I can get it. Typical speeds for Bonanza in the pattern are 100kts downwind, 90 kts base, 80kts final. POH says 76 kts for final...

    Hello,
    This plane is now the one I use most but it'll be better the day it will really save its configuration every time. For the moment the developpers are struggling with that issue. The configuration is saved maybe only 2 time out of 3 and it's a deception because it means it is reseted very often. It's the main intersting thing about this plane and it doesn't work.
    Anyways, I appreciate a lot of things on this plane. A complete set of instruments and most of them are analog and easier to read than digital ones. A very good plane to learn VFR and IFR.

    Great review I love these machines... the only thing that I find is very far from realistic is the start itself, not just on this plane either. I've never been in a 6 cylinder single or twin that doesn't slowly rumble to life, that requires you to leave it at low rpm until it starts smoothing out and then increase power to get it stable and smooth before reducing power to warm-up idle.

    Quick question: You said cabin heat shouldn't be used on the ground. May I ask for the reason? I currently learn on SEP and carb heat shouldn't be used on the ground for longer periods but never heard something like that about cabin heat. To my knowledge cabin heat guides the cabin air along the exhaust to warm it up so I can't think of any reason why it shouldn't be used on the ground. I'd love to learn more and the actual reasons if my assumption is wrong. Have a good day!

    • @OldheadBoomer
      @OldheadBoomer Год назад

      In the real Bonanza, the cabin heater system is fed by a ram air port. It's possible that when idling or taxiing the ram air speed isn't high enough to supply the heater system, resulting in the potential for overheating.

    • @A330Driver

      Hard to say as they serve different roles. The King Air surely is the more complex machine to fly, but the Bonanza just fills a gap for me in "faster-than-a-C172" private aircraft.
      I just love 'em both.
      If you're unsure which of the two to get I'd recommend to check for the role of the plane you're looking for. IFR routes carrying around some mid-size company CEOs? Surely get the King Air.
      Recreational private flying in a private aircraft? The Bonanza's your call.

      The 310R is definitely one of the best. I feel like it’s almost a tossup between the analog Bonanza and the 310R. Each plane has its strengths. The Bonanza has better radio navigation and engine modeling. And the 310R has a better exterior model and sounds. I’m still undecided on the flight model though. The 310 can sometimes feel like a paper airplane in turbulence but the Bonanza feels almost too easy to fly. The component degradation and failures seems better simulated in the 310. My opinion could change in the future. I’ve got 500 hours in the 310 and 5 in the Bonanza. If I had to chose only one I’d go with the 310R that plane is the complete package.
