- A first look at the Black Square Analogie Beechcraft G36 Bonanza in Microsoft Flight Simulator - flying from Wycombe Air Park over to Oxford in horrible weather (which lets us play with all manner of toys in the cockpit along the way).

Thanks for the look. This one is an Insta-buy. Spent so much time in the Carenado Bonanza and this one is so much more in-depth, though it doesn't look as nice, without the brass switches and wood paneling and all. I appreciate that they implemented the KAS altitude capture & VS instrument correctly it appears. Carenado had this unit, but even when it was working as intended before SU11, it still was not implemented accurately according to the manual for the device and had some annoying behaviors. It's also cool that supposedly they've done accurate mixture control for a turbocharged engine, where many planes don't do that right (they lean like a non-turbo). This is the first Blacksquare Analog plane I'll probably spend a good amount of time in.
Carenados are very pretty, aren't they. I appreciate that everything inside the cockpit just WORKS in this one though :)
Purchased mine after your video. Will be getting the Baron too. Love the detail that Black Square puts into this. I watched another reviewer and there is a unique way on trimming your mixture using that information to the right. Also, this will not interfere with the working mod for the glass G36 which I use. When the Baron comes out, that will be four steam gauge overalls. Great stuff.
Yes - I need to look into the engine monitor - this was really a very quick "belt and braces" get it in the air video - ten minutes after downloading it :)
Really enjoyable and informative. Liked watching how you use Little Navmap
It's an A36 now Jonathon. (A = Analogue, G = Glass). Likewise, the Baron will become an A58 from a G58.
Another great video by the way - I always look out for your videos and really enjoy every one of them.
Well I never knew that! That means the liveries are wrong :)
@@jonbeckett Yes. Exactly. Some of the liveries are now being corrected by freeware re-painters to say A36.
The analogue Baron is not an "A58", it's the "B58". Also, the 'A' in A36 doesn't stand for 'analog'. The A36 has been around since well before aircraft could be classified as analogue or glass. The 'A' is just an in-house serial, with no other meaning than that. The 'G' in G36 doesn't stand for 'glass' either, it stands for 'Garmin' as the aircraft was jointly certified by Beech and Garmin, with those avionics as natively fitted. PS. I can completely see how it might appear that the 'A' is for analog and the 'G' is for glass. Just setting the record straight. 'Glass' is really just an informal adjective, used to describe such equipment.
@@droge192 Sincere thanks for the correction! Interesting.
Excellent video Jon, love your start up procedure, short and sweet, no complicated steps, very functional.
Exactly - in the real world it would take three times longer - here we presume lots :)
@@jonbeckett I notice that the Black Square Bonanza GPS doesn't follow the flight path in World Maps. It deviates from the flight path during cruise .
Thanks Jonathan! Picked her up this morning and immediately found I had trouble starting the engine. Turns out the mag and starter switches on my Honeycomb Alpha were interfering, so I unbound them and voila, she fired right up! Looking forward to logging many hours in this one!
Yeah - quite often different aircraft need specific profiles for the controllers.
Excellent vid Jon. The panel lighting and resolution was perfect for what you were demonstrating. With so many aircraft available in every genre, I struggle with not so much the cost of a given airplane, but given the learning curveof any given aircraft. The G36 is popular on MSFS, justifiably so with its performance and complex aircraft level; so based on your review, I’m in on this one.
Will look forward to hearing what you think of it!
That was an interesting flight, thank you for another wonderful video :) I also bought the Analog Bonanza today and have already enjoyed several nice flights in it. Great plane, just like the Analog Caravan that I also love to fly.
And now we're all waiting for the Baron :)
Bought this from the office when I recieved the mail that its in stock and couldn't wait to get off home to install it.
A must buy for a lover of steam gauged general aviation.
It's great :)
Awesome, looking forward to this. Thanks for the Video..!!
Thanks for watching!
Argh my old home PPL airfield EGTB for the win.
Wow that 3000 feet per min down turn was exciting lol
More stuff added to my growing wish list!
Glad you enjoyed it
an Astonishing video and Astonishing on how Your getting on with Your cold ( being English has its perks) to get better sooner
Oh, a cold doesn't stop me :) COVID did a few weeks back - I obtained a new skill of saying things backwards for a while lol
Oh god... He's gonna sell me on another product. LOL!
agreed😂
Lol! Same here!
Very well done my friend. Thanks for the IMC flight time. Love the steam gauges better in this plane.
Many thanks!
Thanks so much for the video! The Bonanza overhaul is definitely getting a spot on my to-buy list. One quick heads.up about the departure at Wycombe, though. I'm not sure how dedicated you are to mimicking real-world procedures, but if that's your thing, then the pattern at EGTB has some noise abatement procedures you could try out. E.g., for a runway 24 departure, you'd turn left to 230° after overflying the fence at the end of the runway. That way you stay away from built-up areas. Going from 06 is a bit more complex involving a left turn directly after departure and another one at 1000 AGL - the AIP charts have more details. :)
Obviously, this is a sim and you're perfectly free to fly any way you like. Just wanted to let you know, in case you like simulating real-world procedures. Thanks again and keep up the good work!
I'm starting to do some more realistic flights - I'll keep it in mind :)
Thanks for sharing!
Would’ve loved to see some outside views while airborne, regardless of the weather. Nevertheless, a very satisfying video JB not to mention a mouthwatering offer by JustFlight. Well done, JB - especially now you’ve lightened my wallet by a couple or more pounds!
More to come!
This seems like a bliss to fly!
Yep - very easy to manage.
Should try out the old school RNAV system above the AP unit. You can move any VOR station to where you want so long as its still within range. It looks like it would have been a very useful and powerful tool pre-GPS days.
Yes! I was reading about it in the manual yesterday afternoon. Looks like fun.
How do you scroll between sim and little navmap. I use my windows key atm but its a less than ideal way of doing it
Video title: "G36". The G36 is only the Bonanza with the factory-fitted Garmin G1000. The model that Black Square have simulated here is the Beechcraft *A36* .
for some reason my autopilot is totally broken with gns 530, while it works fine with kx155
Bought it already and the king air. Awesome videos as usual.
BUT why not use the 750nxi? not working I guess :) I am facing tons of issues with it and I just delete it. The last issue is GPs navigation not working on most aircraft and conflicts with GNS 430. The pms750 is working well. Any ideas here? Thx.
I gave up on it ages ago. I have the TDS too - but again - kind of like to do videos with what most people have.
Yes, only problems. Not following nav - gps! (the old, not updated via FSMP is still working - but then you will miss some things). Do I need the 750nxi or would i be fine with its little brother, cant remember its name at the moment... How many are there= 750 Nxi...and...?
looks very cool ..
I don't know a great deal about the technical intricacies of aircraft but is the Black Square Bonanza more study level than the Kodiak in MSFS? or is this in a league of its own?.
Thanks for the video
Difficult to say.
Good overview again ! Would you have this or the caravan ? It looks like these guys overhauling the default aircraft is the closest thing we have to A2A
I would say the choice between the Caravan and the Bonanza depends only on which plane you prefer in real life. Both are implemented to the same standard, with actually quite similar avionics.
@@volkerjansen3901 the caravan has a charm about it .. might just stick to that
I say get all three :) Being fair, there's more to do in the King Air :)
I wondered if the doors and window operate on this model
No.
I’m looking to get a nice ga prop plane for the sim and after watching your video and a few others, I’m torn between the c414 and one of the black square models 😅 any suggestions?
Do what i did, buy the 414 and the BS King Air. Way more fun imo
Great Video Jonathan! I love Bonanza’s so they took a G36 and made a A36 and A36TC out of it? 🤩
They did indeed.
As this is study level Jonathan does this mean the stock G1000 version is say like a Carenado, unbreakable sort of?.
Not really - although saying that, I don't think any of the stock aircraft really model engine failure.
Well I have taken the plunge seeing as this Black square Bonanza is on special at Just Flight at the moment, about £18 so I will be studying your video above probably just to get it started up😊.@@jonbeckett
I was thinking about buying that V35 twin tail one for $15 just because I don’t really wanna fly glass cockpit all the time, but this seems cooler and more fun and advanced!
This has a lot more functionality than the V-Tail. The Piper Archer II from Carenado is very good too.
Hi, thanks for the review. I'm wondering, where did you get the nice AI airplanes like the Falcon?
It's part of the scenery.
@@jonbeckett Thanks! Can't wait to see a Falcon, Gulfstream or a Global in FS. Have a good night!
It looks like my old carenado!
... but works properly lol
I sure hope I can get it in xbox x😊
I'm sure it will arrive before too long.
Great, another week without central heating 😂
You got that right!
Altimeter ...
I like digital. So...
gauge with an autopilot always scores supreme!!! 😂😂😂
