    After spending 8 days with the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic on wrist, it's time for final thoughts. In this Galaxy Watch 4 Classic review, while long, I cover as much as I can.
    You'll get a recap of the Watch 4 and Classic, sizes, and pricing before we dive into battery life, a Wear OS 3 tour, a look through Samsung Health features, watch band sizing, and a final takeaway. I even tossed in a quick size and design comparison to the Fossil Gen 5, Galaxy Watch Active 2, and TicWatch Pro 3.
    This is an excellent watch. It may not look or feel like Wear OS, but Wear OS 3 with Samsung's One UI Watch on top feels like the most polished Android smartwatch you can buy.

    This was very much needed!! None of the other reviewers have made a video with non-samsung phones. And the real-life battery consumption experience is what we as buyers need to know. Everything you discussed about was amazingly spot on. I didn't expect myself to complete the video, but totally worth it.

    Pre ordered mine the other day in the 46mm Silver. I haven't seen the benefit of a smart watch til now. It saved the life of a friend of mine who was in a bad car accident. I also didn't want one until you were able to use the watch without the phone on your person. Game changer. Also could be a nice present for anyone who has elderly parents. These watches would serve the purpose of a life alert plus more.

We've only wore them the once as we just got them, we didnt use Bluetooth, we used the watches the lte/gps carrier plan. the battery life was horrible! Our watches didnt even last us the whole day, between 8 to 10 hours! Tomorrow i will be trying it paired with Bluetooth to see if that helps with battery life. I've got the Galaxy Watch1 and the Active2 but the latter vary rarely gets worn as I much prefer the styling and physical bezel of the former. I'm trading in my Active2 as part payment toward the GW4 Classic 46mm which should be delivered next week.
    The only thing I'm not keen on about the GW4 Classic is the shape of the lugs. As they are angled I think it maybe more difficult to get a stainless steel band that fits to the watch case than it was with the GW1 which has straight lugs - we'll see, there are already custom bezels for sale.

    I am disappointed with the battery on the Galaxy watch 4. I have the Galaxy Active 2 (44 mm) and almost always get 40 hours on my battery. I am very active, and my Active 2 is normally between 57 - 67%, when I go to bed the first night. So, I would expect the new watches to get more than 40 hours.

    • @joelpantano3156
      @joelpantano3156 2 года назад

      Exactly. I'm turned off by this phone because of the battery life... My first smartwatch was the Samsung Gear 2 Active. That watch lasted 4 to 5 years and it still works fine now. Then I tried to buy a Fossil watch because I like the way they look and that's when I learned that Google doesn't know how to make smartwatches. Wear OS was so buggy and annoying to use. I returned it about 2 days after I got it... My hype for Fossil's smartwatches were completely eradicated. I then went straight to my mobile provider and I got the Active2. This watch is going to be hard to beat. I hope they go back to Tizen. Any watch is useless if it doesn't have a good battery.

      I got to say, after wearing it the full day it has been pretty good so far. There's a few things I'm not used to yet, though. Example: getting new watch faces. On my Galaxy Watch 3, I would just use the Galaxy wear app and download whatever watch face I wanted. Now I have to go through an app, such as facer, download the app on my phone and my watch to get it working.
      The sensor readings such as body composition and better sleep tracking put it ahead of the Galaxy watch 3 in my opinion.
      But I can honestly say, the one and only thing that I do not like about it versus the Galaxy watch 3, is the battery life! Took it off the charger this morning at 100% and now it's at 35%. Granted I used it a little bit more playing around with stuff today. My Galaxy watch 3, I could get three full days without charging. So this is going to be a little bit of a learning curve figuring out charging routines, as I like to wear it for sleep tracking.
      I suppose software updates will improve things a bit. If I could get two days out of this without charging, I would be pretty well pleased.
      All in all, I would say this is a worthy upgrade over the Galaxy watch 3, so far.

    The majority of people who have Samsung watches have Samsung phones. Obviously not everyone but most. I feel that if you're going to do the review on battery life it would have been nice to have seen it paired with the Samsung because you're not even using all the features.

  • @javarjv
    @javarjv 3 года назад +2

    id rather them take a few things off in order to make that battery life longer, that is a huge downside for me,
    I get it, it has a ton going on what can you expect from something so small doing so much, but still, I would have even been ok if the watch was bigger, they could have put a bigger battery or something,
    the active 2 battery isn't that great either, i may just skip it, i got the 2, an i am interested in that new fit bit charge 5, it looks really cool, not as fancy as this, not as many watch faces, an it can't do the BMI thing, bands are not as cool as the charge 4, but they can add more down the road, battery supposed to be 7 day's, an it will have a color screen this time, hopefully it will be accurate, an it's out in sept,

    Why doesn't Samsung make the rotating bezel flesh with the screen? Reason being swiping the screen with the bezel sticking out (from what I have been hearing) has been a nucence.

    • @GerdiHono
      @GerdiHono 3 года назад +1

      I mean making it flesh would be pretty hard. I'm not sure we have the tech. I guess they could use a 3D printer and like a cell culture. But I'm not sure why you'd want flesh on a smart watch. :P

    • @KusMoGX
      @KusMoGX 3 года назад

      If you look at the teardown for the original Galaxy Watch you'll see the rotating bezel is supported by already tiny ball bearings and springs. So the height of the plastic rotating bezel is *just* enough to clear the height of the ball bearings. If you don't have those ball bearings, you don't have a physical rotating bezel.
      What they could have done, I guess, is raise the display up to level it with the height of the bezel, eliminating the need for the "slope" on the bezel and the design can just be seamlessly flat across the display and bezel, but then you're exposing the screen like the Galaxy Watch 4/Active 2 when you otherwise didn't have to. In the current design, the raised bezel, designed out of necessity to clear the height of the ball bearings, also doubles up and acts as a buffer for the glass display against impact, similar to the G-Shock watch design.
      As far as the difficulty of touch and swiping with the bezel, I've owned the Galaxy Watch since day one and I never had an issue with touch nor was I even aware it was a problem for other people. Not to mention I've been using my Galaxy Watch with a tempered glass screen protector, which supposedly could affect touch sensitivity and I still haven't had a single issue. I only found out about the touch sensitivity concern when I was reading reviews while looking into getting a screen protector for my preordered Galaxy Watch 4 (non-classic).
      If you're wondering why I opted for the Active-style Watch 4 instead of Classic this time it's because of the weight. I'm wearing the smaller version of the original Galaxy Watch and it still feels heavy and obnoxious to me (YMMV). The Galaxy Watch 4 Classic is lighter at 1.83oz for the 46mm vs my 2.22 oz for the 42mm (yikes!). But the Watch 4 being around 1oz sounds like a dream to me. I'm holding my breath and sacrificing the awesome rotating bezel (navigation with full view of your screen, unlike swiping where your fingers are in the way, is a luxury but so satisfying!) for the weight decrease and hoping I made the right choice and that the digital bezel isn't as bad as the crybabies make it out to be since there's so much bias on the web it's tough to decipher what's legit and what's BS. 80% weight increase on the smaller model, and 72% weight increase on the larger model. That's nearly twice the weight! JFC...
      Also, the 44mm vs 46mm is deceptive cuz what matters is the viewable display size, in which they're the same on both models: 1.4in, 450x450 res. If you look at the Specs page of the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic on Samsung's website you'll see that the 46mm hilariously covers part of the bezel in its measurement (props for their awkward transparency in this regard; could've avoided the graphic altogether). The extra 2mm is the "slope" of the bezel and not the actual viewable display. Is this some sort of marketing trick? LOL...

    Hi sir,
    Thanks for your your great review.
    I am planning to buy GW 4 classic 46mm and i will use it as follows:
    1. AOD will be off so when i raises my hand then i can see the watch.
    2. Just receive notification for whatsapp, emails without reading them and SMS.
    3. Just accept or reject the calls .
    4. One or two times to measure heart rate and spo2.
    5. Use normal face unanimated.
    6. Intensity automatically.
    7. Just connected to wifi.
    8. Remove it before sleep.
    In this case do you think i will get three days?

    Great video! Almost all the things I'd like to know. How about Microsoft Outlook watch face and Outlook calendar? Does it run smoothly as in a regular Android watcch? Our company is under corporate tight security control. We strictly use MS Office 365. They don't allow using Explorer to set up. Tizen is limited to Galaxy calendar, and it takes Google calendar but not MS Outlook. Can't get outlook calendar to run. Any comment about Outlook watch face and Outlook calendar on Galaxy watch 4, or make another video with the focus on MS Outlook will be great! Thank you.

    Excellent review! Just a minor point but Samsung have removed some support for non Samsung android devices so some of the functions won't work on non Samsung devices. Unless you have a Samsung phone it might be better looking at the Watch 3 instead.
