- Reviews are one thing, but we think tips and tricks for your Google Pixel Watch might be more important. Specifically, we wanted to offer you the first 10 things to do with Google's new watch to help you get the most out of it, take advantage of its features, and not be lost once it is on wrist.
In this video, we walk through how to swap Pixel Watch bands, turning always-on display off (or on), navigating the UI, changing watch faces, adding or remove Tiles, all of the watch's settings, and how to connect Fitbit and use Fitbit Premium.
Hope everyone is enjoying the Pixel Watch.

Just set mine up. This difficulty with the band swapping is 100% blown out of proportion. It's super easy, barely an... yada yada.
I have no clue how the journalists were having so much trouble with it lol. Like you said, super easy.
My goodness I couldn't agree more. It was so simple and well designed to swap the bands.
Oh really?!
I was expecting it to be odd, but yeah super easy and I figured it out before the setup animation showed how to do it.
It is much easier just about any other watch I have owned.
Thank you for creating an in-depth review. Actually going through the settings and showing us watch faces was very nice. I noticed most of the reviews on here don't really show us the entire experience. Unlike what you have done where we get to really see everything we are getting. Thanks
there’s a difference between a review and this video, which is more of a guide
This was so informative, thank you so much! I was searching for a video just like this. Now I feel like I can give the pixel watch a really good go.
Thank you for this video, it showed me everything about the basics of using the watch to convince me to upgrade to one. Many reviews gloss over the basics such as navigating all menus and such, so it's hard to tell if one would really enjoy using it. So thank you for that.
This was an awesome rundown. Thank you!! Also this guy's voice is very nice to listen to, I vote for him to do all voice work
Very great and informative overview. I always look forward to your set up videos.
You made removing and putting the band on look easy compared to other reviewers. I really like the pebble shape of the watch.
He’s lib is why.
I was worried it would be tough and honestly was super easy for me. Like 5 seconds to get it off and back on
@@kaveman_4242 Didn't follow your comment.
It is so easy, and even comes with easy to understand instructions with drawings AND an animated tutorial in the app! People acting like it's this monumental thing are just silly.
@@ppraish and you're better for it.
Thank you for detailed review, I hope I will enjoy this watch (ordered it after your video)
Thank you so much for doing this. This is the first smartwatch that I've owned so this is like my study guide. I appreciate it. Well done!
Thank you so much - just got my new Pixel Watch 2 and your info is still relevant to set it up!
Thank you. I got the Pixel 2 a couple of months ago and didn't really have time to explore the features. Your video told me exactly what I needed to know. Thanks for making it so easy.
Very thorough, thank you.
Straight forward presentation. Thank you very much for this video!
Thank you! Best video for changing bands. I have been watching videos to change the band with no success until now.
Dam excited to get mine. It looks great!
Hey, i am thinking of getting one, is it working well?
Kellen Awesome video. Thanks so much for sharing Deb ✌️
great review and teaching on this topic...
question, is there a setting to Not have Heartrate tracking? like to lower it from 1 sec , to maybe every 5 mins?
Very helpful. Thanks.
Great information, thank you. 😊
good job, thanks
Very good video 👍🏾
One year later and i just purchased a pixel watch 2, this is still revelant. Hi Kellen and Tim. Pay no attention to that man behind the screen.
Great walkthrough! I actually wish they would add the Google assistant feed to the left again. Or at least give the option.
After testing both, Always On Display uses less battery than Tilt to Wake.
Just in case anyone is just setting up a pixel watch as I did today. Fitbit would not connect until I did a system update on the watch and manually updated all of the apps on the watch through the Play store on the watch. The app part was not entirely intuitive to me, but everything connected to Fitbit perfectly once that was done.
Just curious, how do you write anything on the agenda button for the day?
Is the old and nice gesture navigation on WearOS gone? I like it a lot.
I can't figure out a way to set up do not disturb on a schedule. On my pixel phone I can set up a sleep do not disturb schedule to automatically turn on at 10 pm and turn off at say 7 am. On the way you can only manually turn it on and off, or use bedtime mode which seems like the exact same thing. Any way to set up a schedule that can automatically turn on?
Awesome
They actually do have proprietary bands on Amazon and eBay already for the Pixel watch. Some metal bands and standard silicone. I'm not sure how well they will fair but someone figured it out apparently.
Companies get the information ahead of time along with disclosure agreements I’m sure.
Yeah, but try ordering them. They have loooooong delivery times.
@@pjaypender1009 delivery times aren't anything crazy on Amazon at least. I saw a few that were late November but a lot are your normal delivery times.
Ciao , mi dici di dove hai acquistato cinturino di questo colore lime??? Grazie!
Man with the way the other tech channels are acting I thought changing the bands would be as complicated as taking a piss into a shot glass while on a turntable.
Just set mine up as well and was able to get all the pixel watch faces on the galaxy watch 5 pro as well working flawlessly . Seems to work on anything wear os 3
How do you transfer them?
I've had mine since launch and I really like it. I am confused though. You said Samsung has always on display and Google does not and I'm just trying to understand what you mean since this watch also had them.
You can also double click the crown for Google Pay shortcut.
Great review. Everything I was looking for and more. Thank you!👍
Can we install any ply store apps in this watch
hi I have an iPhone and iwatch but really really like the shape of the Pixel 2. It to me is more feminine. I would not want it for fitness etc as I am old bones and recovering from hip replacement, but do want to get texts to it and tell time etc and be able to keep changing watch faces. I was told that I could download WEAR OS BY GOOGLE to my iPhone and use the Pixel 2 watch with it. Is that correct please?
I think Google should have had the slide feature go into the other direction 🤔
Not being able to charge the *watch with battery share on the back of the phone was a missed opportunity. Just would’ve been cool
It's possible. I tried it with my Pixel 6.
@@matinusdisseque hmmm I meant charge the watch with battery share sorry
@@GotSawst Yeah. I meant the same thing. And it works.
@@matinusdisseque I feel like you're fibbing at me. Fibbing right to my face
You also can't charge the watch while it's powered down. It just automatically reboots..that too, is annoying!
Does it allow faces from Watchmaker or Facer to be used or are you stuck with the ones from Google only? I haven't seen anyone say anything about this.
Facer works
Watchmaker works!
u know what someone mentioned they use aod and disable tilt to wake...... I like that the same face until u touch it
@Kellen, what is the complication in Slot 1 of the Utility watch face you're using in the 'WED OCT 12' format? I don't seem to have that option.
Any luck???
@@RobertMcGaha666 , yes. A few hours after I asked, I saw that the watch still had quite a few updates to install. Once I did, the watch face's options were different.
Look at that battery percentage go down during this review! That’s crazy.
how do i get the weather to show up i have location turned on on the watch and the phone wifi is on on my phone and bluetooth is connected i allowed location on the watch im not sure what else i have to do do i have to download a weather app? it should show me the weather if its showing on the phone on the watch shouldnt it?
Question: Can you program the night time?
Also: Bummer the Google Now page that was on the left is now gone. Kinda useless to have tiles from both the right and the left IMO
I can claim it for free because I pre-ordered the 7 pro. Think I might sell it because the battery life is a deal breaker if it's as bad as everyone says it is. No point having a smart watch that you have to turn loads of features off for it to last 24 hours
I don't turn off a bunch of features and usually get 24-36 hours. Depends on if I'm on LTE or not.
Ticwatch E3 has a speaker draining option. Don't look like the PW has that.
I noticed you had the home app in your quick settings. I have home installed but I don't see this option on my quick settings. Anyone know how to add it to quick settings?
I was just trying to figure out the same thing
I found it. On your watch, head to the apps (press the crown in once) and go to the 'Play Store'. Scroll down to the 'Manage apps' tile and update your Google home app. That'll give you access to the home app via the apps. Then reset your watch
@@nicehatthanks so nice about a control my thermostat from my couch
How did you get the Google home button to be in your quick toggle settings menu?

@@samhofstedt1134 thanks, I updated the wear os UI app and it worked.
Does the watch have a steps tracker/complication?
yes it has a step tracker!
Are there features that exclusively are if you use a pixel watch with a pixel phone against using a galaxy watch 5/4 with a pixel phone?
Nothing is exclusive. Pixel Watch doesn't lock you out of features. All Android phones will work the same with the watch.
To get the most out of a pixel watch you need Fitbit premium at 10.00 a month. I know using a galaxy watch with a non Samsung you can't use ECG among other features because you can't get the Samsung health app you need without side loading so it does take some work.
@@droid8472 isn't that only guided workouts?
@@KeithVlk no there is more too it like extend sleep data I don't remember the full list I would have to find it again
@@droid8472 didn't realize that. Thanks for the heads-up!
In the past, Fitbit has (rather frustratingly) blocked the ability to connect more than one device that has access to apps/faces (such as a Sense and a Charge 3). I wonder if this watch counts toward that same limitation. I often wear my Charge to bed or when don't want to wear a smartwatch and I stopped buying new Fitbit devices because of this limitation.
I came from a charge 4 to pixel watch and it made me remove the charge. I haven't tried to add it back but my assumption is that it's still the case.
Yes it does have the same limitation
@@Anfurnyy Thanks for confirming. That's such a stupid limitation. The Charge 2 is the last device you can have on your account simultaneously with any of the newer ones. I guess I won't be buying this watch. You would think they would want you to buy more of their hardware, but I guess not.
very frustratingly, yes.
Does it? I remember having the Ionic and the Charge 2 and it didn't make me remove the charge 2. They both sync up so nicely that I could wear the charge 2 while the Ionic was charging to keep the steps and heart tracking going in the app.
When I upgraded to the Sense from the Ionic, I tested it and the Sense and Charge 2 again, played nicely.
I did have issues with a relatives Blaze. No two Blazes can be used interchangeably. One has to be removed for one to work. So I would guess duel devices of any kind won't work.
I'm hoping there's no issues with the Pixel Watch and other devices like the Sense/Versa or simple trackers, because the Pixels poor battery would likely require another Fitbit to take over the sleep tracking as it charges overnight.
AOD I always turn it off as after awhile it will burn in. At first you will get screen retention, but long enough will burn in
Well I'm sold...but waiting for the Google Pixel Watch 2...as I want a bigger model with more battery life.
Pixel watch 2 shall be my first smart watch team pixel lol
Yeah if I'm in a position to drop some cash on the pixel watch 2
Didn't see that I got the 6 month membership for Fitbit, but I also tried double dipping with the free 3 month trial that they offer already. I wanted to see if I could get a total of 9 months, but that seems to not be the case 😅 Any solutions?
I don't know, sorry. I made same mistake with the Sense.
I heard that if you cancel your free 3 month before the last day you will get 6 more months free. But I'm not sure. Someone on Reddit had asked the Fitbit sypport
Just because your watch says it is up-to-date doesn't mean it necessarily is. You might read about a new update you haven't received yet. Search for How to Force Pixel Watch Updates to see how to manually update the watch.
How do you shut off the reminder to get more steps in? Can't figure that out. Tia
You go into the Fitbit app and then click on your profile image and there is an option there. Hope this helps if you haven't already located it!
The one simple thing I want but can't figure out is how to get the day of week, month and date at the top of that Modular 1 display. Whenever I try, it shows a calendar icon, then the Day/Date. No day of the week. What am I missing?
Same. Any luck?
I don't see the big deal with aod. I always turn it off
Really winds me up with both the phone and the watch I cant just have white text, not creamy white or greeny white, white white o.o
Not being able to remap buttons sucks. My moto360 had a shortcut button to Wallet
My phone don't given sound notifications when connected to the watch. Anyone else having that issue? TIA
Bought this and it's up there with my worst purchases ever. Had an Amazfit for about 2 years, the Amazfit seems more useful than the pixel watch. I'm debating returning this and it's looking likely.
What are the benefits of sleep tracking I’m genuinely curious, because the way I see it you either sleep well or you didn’t and there’s not much you can do to change that. 🤷🏼♂️
@@tiagobettencourt8839 That makes sense thanks!
I disagree with the watch not charging fast, it does charge really fast.
This watch is too clean and efficient it should be illegal
Why my google watch doesn't track my sleep? How can I fix it please? Thank you.
The watch actually does charge pretty quickly 😅
How for that price? Is it not protected with sapphire? I had a Huawei watch back in 2015 that had sapphire glass on it. What the f*** that thing's going to be scratched up to eligibility before the years out
Tilt to wake uses more power than aod
Does anyone know if this watch is ok in the ocean and how it is as a surf tracker app?
If you're using in the ocean it has a flood my watch feature that will turn off the watch as you surf and after a week of leaving your watch in rice 🍚, it might turn back on 👌🏾😊
@@Involvement82 oh that doesn't sound great.... Bummer. Seems like the apple watch is the best surf option
@@seangoldberg6457 seems like you have $900 for the apple 🍎 watch lol 😆
Does Pixel Watch support WhatsApp, Viber and Facebook messenger.
Yes it does
Sweet fancy bezels, Batman!
The watch uses ANY Qi charger in including BATTERY SHARE ON THE BACK OF THE PIXEL PHONE!!!!!!!!!
my pixel watch does not have the home option in the quick settings. 😞
Did you do an update? It's supposed to have one right out of the box
Me too. And yes to update.
9:36 Battery was 40% - 9:37 Battery 39% - 9:40 battery percentage is 38%
It’s Frustrating 😩
Is there seriously no option for vibration notifications?
if you go into settings, you can turn the vibration off or on for notifications.
Total BS going on right now with Verizon. They can't activate IMEIs outside of the ones that are on the watches they have sold directly with no ETA for when other place's IMEIs will be available with services.
Return it!
Once I connected it to my Pixel phone all notifications stopped on my phone. Is there a setting where both devices will still notify? I can't find it.
That doesn't sound good. I was thinking about picking up a pixel watch as well but if notification is only on the watch. Yeah...maybe not
This is a setting in the watch app. It's mute notifications while on watch and vise versa..not a bug
The 11th thing to do..... WAIT UNTIL GEN 2
I still can't believe the Pixel Watch can't automatically start or stop workouts. That's like the most basic feature of a wearable in 2022. I have zero interest in getting one until it does.
It actually does auto track workouts, but it doesn't notify you. It shows up later in your activity. At least that's what I have seen from another reviewer.
10 Things to do?? This was a tutorial on how it works.
I don't see a point to getting a watch where I need to pay a subscription to access its most essential features. Fuck that.
The first thing you should actually do is return it.
Literally none of the bands are available. Huge disappointment.
And I have to say you're wrong about it not charging fast. It charges wicked fast.
Bands are all available except the ones they haven't released now. Were they previously out?
@@anthonyparker1869 Have you tried to order them? They are *not* available. *Available* would mean you could actually get them.
I don't care about fitness sleep checking ect or health apps
The way the bands fit is horrible
This thing has terrible battery life. It needs to be charged twice a day.
What is this obsession with sleep tracking? If you're sleepy when you wake up, you didn't sleep well. Do you keep your phone in your pocket when you sleep too? Put the thing on the charger at night and use it during the day.
It's kind of the same with step counts and workout tracking. I swam two miles today, whether my dumb little watch tells me I did, or not.
These things are just novelty features and non of the smart watches are accurate with all this health tracking anyways.
a $400 Fitbit watch is a bit pathetic on Google's side as a first attempt for a smartwatch.
I'm a big enthusiast on sleep tracking, and I see where you're coming from. However I believe that knowing how much sleep you get along with how you sleep, is important for the recovery of your mind and body. Go ask any fitness trainer how important sleep is, and maybe they can change your mind.
Sleep is literally one of the most important things you'll consistently do as a human. Research it n then you wont have to ask.
The first thing to do is return it and wait for Gen 2.
1st thing it'd do..return it. There's better options with better features for significantly less. Not to mention better battery, especially on Androids ecosystem
First thing to do is buy a Garmin instead.
The first thing you need to do is take it back and return it and get yourself a better watch from either Apple or Samsung there's not 10 things you need to do there's one thing you need to do
You guys are crazy..some people actually like the Pixel watch over a galaxy or apple device. We're loyalist that way. Nobody is asking you to walk around rocking one.
First 10 things?
How about the first SINGLE thing to do... Throw it out and get the galaxy watch 5 instead.
Cheaper, bigger battery, better hardware, longer update support, better design and sapphire glass display
Better design? That's laughable 🤣
The best part of android, theres something for everyone. Why yuck someone elses yum? I personally think the GW5 is beyond ugly and bulky, but you do you. Enjoy that watch. Let us enjoy this if we want.
No one likes Samsung
@@Flexpdx Speak for yourself. Lol
@@KeithVlk I have the Galaxy Watch 5 and love it. It fits my wrist beautifully. However, the Galaxy Watch Pro 5 is very bulky and not geared to smaller wrists at all. I like it, but not for me. With that being said, different strokes for different folks.
The first thing to do is don't buy it.
Is there a way when a notification comes in that the watch display comes on? I feel the haptic vibration but my watch doesn't light up. Should I keep my tilt on display setting to correct this?
@@patrickj051971 if you dont have always on display or tilt to wake enabled, you'll need to double tap the display if I'm not mistaken. I have no issue with my screen coming on because i use tilt to wake or the AOD.
