    Thank you. This hymn has been on my heart for a while. I never heard it to music, only quoted in sermons and commentaries. I was looking for a tune and was delighted and blessed to hear your treatment of it. Excellent. Thanks again!

    Beautiful! I've sung this hymn for over 40years. I've only ever been used to two traditional tunes. Your version hasn't detracted from my appreciation of this timeless classic..in fact it only enhanced it. Many thanks.

    LYRICS:
    A debtor to mercy alone,
    Of covenant mercy I sing,
    Nor fear, with Thy righteousness on,
    My person and off’rings bring.
    The terrors of law and of God
    With me can have nothing to do;
    My Savior’s obedience and blood
    Hide all my transgressions from view.
    A debtor to mercy alone,
    Of covenant mercy I sing,
    Nor fear, with Thy righteousness on,
    My person and off’rings bring.
    2
    The work which His goodness began,
    The arm of His strength will complete;
    His promise is Yea and Amen,
    And never was forfeited yet.
    Things future, nor things that are now,
    Nor all things below or above,
    Can make Him His purpose forego,
    Or sever my soul from His love.
    A debtor to mercy alone,
    Of covenant mercy I sing,
    Nor fear, with Thy righteousness on,
    My person and off’rings bring.
    3
    My name from the palms of His hands
    Eternity will not erase;
    Imprest on His heart, it remains
    In marks of indelible grace.
    Yes! I to [in] the end shall endure,
    As sure as the earnest is giv’n;
    More happy, but not more secure,
    When all earthly ties have been riv’n [are the glorified spirits in heaven]
    A debtor to mercy alone,
    Of covenant mercy I sing,
    Nor fear, with Thy righteousness on,
    For my person and off’rings bring.
