No besey parallel clamps? A wen planer? No dado stack!! It’s like watching a normal person’s garage workshop. Well done.

Nice project. The one point I'd make is that these stations raise the working height to a good few inches above what's comfortable - obviously a matter of personal choice though.

Thanks, it's a comfortable height for my sharpening technique, but a consideration for others for sure! cheers

Good to see someone else complete this build since Jesse's video is light on a few details - like how a lot of the pieces are attached. Looks like you adapted to suit the tools you have. Interesting to see you cut the tenons first, but it makes sense once you see how you use them to line up your tenons. It looks like you've done some kind of epoxy detail on the inside bottom. Can you share what you did there?

Thanks Tom, yes I embedded some Acer (Japanese Maple) leaves in Epoxy - stuck the leaves down & poured Glasscast 10 over to just cover, then coated the sides with epoxy to waterproof...lost the footage unfortunately :-(

@@DeerRiverCraftsman Thanks for the reply. Sorry to pepper you with questions, but did you glue and screw the feet, or just glue?

@@TomLovering no probs :-) just glue, weight of the box created its own clamping pressure, cheers

Interesting. I'm guessing this is based on a traditional design. Looks like it was meant to be taken to a worksite with the craftsman. Going to try the jig saw method for the mortises. Always looking for new tricks to keep in the tool bag.

Jigsaw good option for through mortises :-) Design I believe is a traditional japanese toolbox, cheers bud

Beautiful Box! I was looking for a plastic box that I could use to keep my stones in, so they are soaking all of the time. I saw Jesse's version when he released the video. You didn't show it, but I am assuming you poured epoxy in the bottom of the box? Are the sides covered as well? Thanks!

Yes, the bottom has an epoxy layer with acer leaves in about 1/4" thick & sides coated with epoxy! :-)

Did Jesse's plans include details on the bamboo water drip? I'm trying to figure out if it's run by a pump or if it's just gravity fed. I would like to know before I buy the plans. Thanks!

Hi there, no there were no details on the bamboo drip - I believe Katz Moses as a more detailed version on his YT channel though - check that out!

Thanks. I bought the plans anyway. Bummed about the water drip not being there but the plans are great.

What kind of router bit did you use to cut the groove around the inside of the box?

Do you really need a station for sharpening hand tools though?

    • @DeerRiverCraftsman

All preference, rises the height off my bench, which is comfortable height for me to sharpen - plus, keeps everything together & easy to move around should I need to :-)
