Contemporary Walnut Barn Door || Modern Design
This contemporary Sliding Barn Door in Walnut was part of a larger kitchen project involving a Dining Table, Breakfast Bar, Bar Stools & Glazed Interior Doors - all in solid walnut! Great project, but I thought the build of this sliding barn door was the most interesting build video...
This was the only build that was not all solid stock, mainly to reduce the weight! Using real timber veneers on MDF substrate, combined with a matrix inner core for the raised panels was the key to the weight of the finished door so it could be mounted on sliding hardware.
Challenging & enjoyable project!
Please support my partners & suppliers as they are key to what I do - I am not paid or sponsored by these ...

Four Poster Super King Bed - Carved Headboard || Unique Design
Просмотров 1,2 тыс.10 месяцев назад
The concept for this piece came from the client's interior designer - a black, four-poster bed centralised on a large window...the client wanted texture & interest, so I designed a tapered post, with chamfered edges. The key to the design was the power carved texture of the headboard & footboard. The timber was Ash & the black paint was a milk paint with a hard wax oil top coat. The milk paint ...
The GANIVET Desk || Bedroom Vanity Desk
Просмотров 1,5 тыс.Год назад
The GANIVET Desk is a concept design I worked on while away in Barcelona on a chef knife course. I tried to design legs for a desk that would represent the blade of a knife, but instead of the legs themselves, I used the negative space on the inside of the legs to capture the blade shape. I named the design "Ganivet" as that is Catalan for Knife... This piece is actually part of a bedroom suite...

Danish Cord Bench | Learning to Weave
Просмотров 21 тыс.Год назад
This Danish Cord Bench was my first time weaving, and it was great learning a new skill, which was also quite a meditative process! This project is part of the Wood Whisper Guild, tutored by Caleb James, a renowned woodworker & chairmaker, specialising in Danish Cord. The bench is make of oak, although the long sides are maple as they are fully covered. The joinery is a stepped or haunched mort...
The Florentine Table | Unique Design | Side Table

I'm a big fan of knife & axe making, particularly culinary knives. So when two of my favourite knife makers announced they would be hosting a 2-day course to make a combination of their styles, I was all in! In July 2022 I travelled to Florentine Kitchen Knives, based in Barcelona, Spain for an amazing course with Tomer Botner & Geoff Feder (based in NY, USA). We made a stainless steel 8" chefs...
Live Edge Sideboard | Kitchen Storage | Custom Furniture
Просмотров 1,3 тыс.Год назад
A Kitchen Sideboard or Credenza made with a Spalted Beech surround & mitred waterfall joinery. The orginal slab of spalted beech already had a waney edge on one side, but I carved a "live edge" the other way as I preferred the underside of the slab for the show side. I used the Arbortech Turbo Plane to carve the edge, before sanding smooth... The internal cabinetry & drawers are made from Balti...
Floating Bedside Tables | Custom Furniture | Inspired by Vintage Surfboard
Просмотров 818Год назад
These small floating bedsides were designed for a nice bijou bedroom in a North Wales holiday apartment by the beach...so the design was based on the pattern of a vintage surfboard pattern with thin contrasting stripes of timber on a lighter main palette. You'll see the pattern change in the video change from three central stripes to to offset stripes, as the client preferred that make up. The ...

A Storage Cabinet made from Sweet Chestnut, with brass detailing on the top - client commission for a holiday cottage on the beautiful island of Anglesey (Ynys Mon in Welsh). The brass detail on top is ...
Making a Baseball Bat || My First Woodturning Project

I've wanted to learn how to turn for some time, and purchasing my Record Power lathe was a great addition to the workshop, and continues my desire to have vintage machines & tools in the workshop. Spalted Beech Floor Lamp || Concept Design

Concept design Floor Lamp, made from spalted beech off-cuts from prior client projects - this is a really good weekend project, with some nice simple joinery, but a rewarding piece - I'll be making this available as a made-to-order piece on my website, in a range of timbers. The AUR DU Coffee Table - Welsh for BLACK GOLD...this is a live edge Elm slab, which was destined for another project, drawer fronts for a record player cabinet...the client didn't like the look once on the cabinet, so I had to pivot with the slab in three pieces! Thank you for sharing this 😊
How wide are your shelves?
I love this piece. Incredible work.
Do you happen to remember which size domino cutterhead you used to make the mortises and can you add some more detail on how you did them? I bought the WWG plans but would like to use my Domino to make the mortises
Love walnut, it's so beautiful
Nice work! I wanna make a chamfer jig like you and chris salomone made but do i need a longer router bit for it?
Good job 👍
Это не верстак, а КОСМОДРОМ!
Nice, I made one of these for the mother in law’s birthday… to hold her twinkies and donuts.
thanks for sharing. This gave me inspiration and know how to make my own stable door for the grand kids playhouse
Very nice bench. I have a small shop and so my is up against a wall. If you had to choose one side, which would it be?
Great build. Great video. Keep up the great work!
Itu tali apa namanya?🤔
Really cool. Love the ending lol
BLOODY EXCELLENT! If I could give you one tip.. would have maybe been quicker to just used carbon paper and drawn onto the wood rather than making a template. Loved the epoxy resin effect you done. FANTASTIC
Waited to see how u fitted it to wall 😢
I like it! Kind of modern and kind of 70s reto I think? Loved the vibe of your video and have subscribed. Regards James One Handed Maker - Australia
just scooped up this course the other day! Danish cord should be here in a few days. You killed it man Made it look as easy as Caleb.
Beautiful!!! Happy New Year’s..🎉🍻
Thanks very much, Happy New Year!

Many thanks mate, much appreciated!
Looks stunning, thanks for sharing!
Thanks so much mate
I cant find the plans to this on your web site
deerrivercraftsman.com/drcstore/iwfmwq88zq0cuetu8gzms1ukpk6qk9 many thanks for interest!
What species wood were you using? (Maple...?) I'd love to see a follow-up to this video now two years on dealing with questions like what you may have done differently, and mods you have made or plan to make, and most importantly, projects that you have made on this bench that are easier now or would have been impossible earlier--you know, bench-in-action stuff.
Hard Maple - I'll have a new series of videos in 2024 which is more workshop oriented so this would be a good idea! cheers!
Ist so cool to lock your Video With no itruktion. Ist so unintresting
excellant thnx
Thank you!
Great work! I wonder if the fence on your table saw might be out of parallel a little. Just because it sounded like it was getting bogged down. Or maybe it’s just like that idk. Thank you for the videos. Please keep up the good work.
Many thanks, I've adjusted many times since this vid, so could've been at the time for sure
0:51 your hand is too close to the blade 😢
Maybe camera angle, rarely get them close enough to be an issue, cheers for concern...
Great job. How many meters of string has been used?
Perfect work bench my friend
Thanks so much!
No besey parallel clamps? A wen planer? No dado stack!! It’s like watching a normal person’s garage workshop. Well done.
Haha, many thanks!
Дякую. Привіт з України, де дияволи чинять геноцид Української Нації.
Love the Zebrano draw fronts. I am based just up the road a bit in Conwy. Where did you source your wood from? Thanks for a great video.
Many thanks! The Zebrano I got at an auction when a cabinet shop was closing down, the Ash is from my woodland (I stock boules/slabs of Oak, Ash & Beech for sale but just run out of Ash!) - for Oak & Ash though MKM at Llan Junction will order stuff in for you, and for exotics or top premium stuff I use Sykes Timber in Warwickshire - great family business who have been in the timber trade since 1800s! If you need a small amount of Zebrano I have plenty left & can sell you a piece for a project - get in touch via my website www.deerrivercraftsman.com - thanks again!
@@DeerRiverCraftsman Yes I use MKM a fair bit. I'll check out Sykes too. Thanks!
I have always thought that the American bed size "King size" is around 120 cm - 150 cm beds until I found on Google that size is 160 cm which is considered the smaller version of the two double bed sizes (180 cm is the larger version) which available here in Sweden.
Looks good! Good work! Not sure if the sculped edges aren't too sharp. I keep hitting my hands on my bed headboard...
Many thanks - the scuplted parts are also sanded back to make them smooth to touch, I saved you all that part of the build as it was quite lengthly! :-)
Excellent work yet again my friend. Regards Jim.
Once again, much appreciate the kind words Jim, many thanks!
Not really a 4 poster fan, but this turned out great. I'm sure the client was thrilled. - Chris
Many thanks Chris, and yes they did seem to like their new bedroom suite!
this is so beautiful!!
Thanks so much!
Wow that is a ton of work and skill
Thanks so much!
Well, it seems funny to put such a fantastic investment in terms of modern machinery just to make a bench with a woodworker's crochet for a holding device.
haha, well thankfully all my machinery is valuable for the furniture work I do as well as making this bench ;-) but do I love the crotchet for door work & live edge bark removal with a draw knife, among many things which modern benches don't really have a great alternative for! :-) thanks for checking in!
1:40 dang what's wrong with your saw? Never saw a cabinet saw bog down like that.
The blade was dull as hell & I was pushing it way past it's limits with a tough piece of maple!!
Bonjour ! Où puis-je acheter la bobine de papier tressé et les petits clous please?
