I've just returned from the other side of my city and driving the car was a necessity, due to tools and parts we were carrying for a bike repair. It's the same old story. Angry frustrated drivers, hand gestures and anger. Vast majority are single occupancy. Imagine if 25 or even 50% of those drivers were on bikes. Our visibility is zero, I didn't see one single bike and we wonder why we're not accounted for in transport plans. Bikes are toys. Summer days play things. We need to be more visible, all year round. There used to be a lot of Honda cubs, 250 MZ's. I used to commute on a 1971 Triumph or my Triton in the 90's and 00's, I no longer commute but a bike would be my choice. There are still plenty of cheap, reliable commuter bikes, new and old. We should also, IMO, be allowed to use cycle access through LTN schemes
I am a lifelong (60+ years ) motorcyclist .But we are a dieing breed due to 50 year of anti motorcycle proppanganda and young people not uptakeing an interest any more. Ownership of cars is now beyond the reach of many young people as is home ownership and like it or not , the rise of E bikes and cycling is now the only form off affordable daily transport for a vast number of people and as such this is what the goverment should be prioritizing for the future.
It would be of great help if the hundreds of thousands of motorcyclists out there, would join MAG, but far too many have read the book, 101 reasons why I can't join MAG. Nice to see the BMF 😂😂 there.
Please keep up the good work, MAG guys. It is greatly appreciated, though I know it must be hard. I am a lazy b*stard and I don't go much further than filling in the online forms and sending the emails MAG tells me to, but I did pay for a lifetime membership a while back to put my money where my mouth is. I urge everyone who wants motorcycling to have a voice to support MAG.
Bradford council has spent thousands on creating cycle lanes that aren't used and at the same time have made roads that once flowed nice are now congested every day as the council keep implementing their idiotic drive to ban the car/motorcycle from the town centre. It seems odd to me that you hear about combustion engines being bad for the planet but at the same time they are happy to have a lot of congested vehicles polluting. And why don't we hear about none EU countries that are not following the idiotic drive to ban the car/motorcycle I am sure we are a microscopic spec of pollution when compared to other places on the globe 👍🏻

I am surprised representatives of the UK motorcycle industry are not joining forces with MAG. With motorcycle sales on the decline and dealers closing down, then it is very much in the interest of the UK motorcycle industry to get onboard.
It's interesting to note that Amazon has risen to success by being more convenient for many. Surely the key to reducing vehicle mileage is improving local services and therefore making leaving the car on the drive convenient, rather than trying to make motoring more inconvenient? Perhaps a return to Sunday trading laws that saw supermarkets close would breath life back into local shops, and certainly seems a better solution than blocking roads turning a six mile journey into nine and doubling the time taken with all the increases in pollution this leads to. Moving into motorcycles, as much as I would be happy to cycle across the capital the 30 miles of M4 prior to arriving there makes this unrealistic - acknowledging a motorcycle is less 'green' than a bicycle is great, however motorcycles are a practical alternative to cars for journeys beyond the average cyclist's reach.
I’m not onboard with this video. I don’t want the solution to be making anyone on 2 wheels fight amongst ourselves for the scraps left over from car use. I cycle and ride and both are good .. cycling is to be fair very efficient in urban areas (if one looks at it in a pure engineering or time perspective). Motorbikes are better than cars… so I don’t get why cycling is the target for MAG?

Southern Hemisphere calling. My personal .experiences in the last 24 hours. First 4 happened at night. Pedestrian in the middle of my lane in a street with no lights. Car parked in town facing in the wrong direction because they were on the wrong side of the road, with their lights on. Bicyclist riding erratically in center of lane. Another vehicle coming from opposite direction turning across in front of me. That was last night. This morning vehicle exiting parking lot drove out in front of me and another car coming from opposite direction waiting to turn off. Later today car trying to pass me on left hand side. All of this is illegal here. Is there any tax funded entity devoted to road safety? Or are they all just frauds?
The way things are going it looks like the strait of Hormuz will be closed by Christmas. It could be closed for a long time. A very, very long time, meaning lots of road space for all of us 2-wheelers in the New Year.😅
Lets face it, very few peole use cyvle lanes because very few people want to cycle. The government seems to no longer listen to the majority British people.....
@neilelkins5006 unless the cycle lanes are so efficient as to make cyclists travel at speeds invisible to the human eye, I would politely suggest they are just not being used. "Very, very efficient" cracked me up, I thought u were being serious for a second🤣🤣🤣
Really? It's quicker for me to cycle 4 miles to work than to take the motorbike or car. I've got a route shared path/cycle lane route that avoids all traffic lights and roundabouts. Not only that, I'm also avoiding short journeys where the engine is barely up to temp by the time I get there, it keeps me fit, saves fuel money and isn't squaring off my tyres.
Motorcyclists should perhaps consider others in the amount of noise they make and stop overtaking on pedestrian crossings etc, if they want to be thought of positively instead of as a problem to get rid of.
Riding a bicycle I have a distance of about 100 miles in my legs, EV’s have an approx 150 mile range. Combustion engine vehicles have a greater range due to short refill times! It’s about reducing your ability to move around, 15 minute city anyone? Are you getting it yet!

Cycling is not morally superior to other fo4ms of transport, not motorcycles, and not cars, nor is electric morally better than petrol based transport. These are just choices. To see that consider that the cyclist chooses to cycle. If a cyclist claims they cycle because they have made 'the right choice for humanity' well, its obvious they are making a virtue sacrifice and now pridefully see themselves as superior to others. Well they are not. I am over 50 with injured knees, and while I have cycled in the past when it was convenientto do so I prefer to ride a motorcyce or drive now and I demand to be considered, as is my right, equal to any other person. Might I also point out that cycling is really only practical if you can and wish to shower at the office. This must rule out the majority of employees, and the majority should not be made to suffer for some false 'moral superiority' of a privileged minority. Finally, while I am supportive of the proper stewardship of our environment, I do not agree that net zero should be achieved at all costs. Nor should we it reduce our energy footprint. In fact saying such a thing is, at its extremes, philosophically contrary to all life. All life consumes energy, amd the more advanced, the more energy. We should not waste, but equally, there is nothing wrong with consuming energy to live a good life.
"Might I also point out that cycling is really only practical if you can and wish to shower at the office" Or just get so ft that a slow cycle doesn't make you sweat. I dont' even get warm cycling to work now. I DO get sweaty if I walk though.
