- This happens every so often, and increasingly as the US empire expanded. It comes as a commingling of domestic and foreign policy: Vietnam, The War In Iraq, and now the Israel-Palestinian slaughter.
What happens when the interests of the people clash with the interests of the privileged? Biden will be at Morehouse in two weeks. Between now and then, so much is poised to happen.
They’ve literally unleashed police on college students, faculty, observers, and anyone whom the police want to harm. There is no legal justification; this is pure repression. And mass commercial “news” outlets are pushing pure propaganda, no doubt at the behest of owners.
Meanwhile, student journalists like at Columbia and UPenn and independent outlets are pushing back. The International Court of Justice could issue arrest warrants for Netanyahu any time now. Israel has seen Columbia and Turkey move to break diplomatic and trade ties. And in Haiti, the attempt to install another US-France-Canada backed interim prime minister has been met with widespread derision.
The “elites” (the moneyed and privileged) have lost the power to control the narrative and have dropped all pretenses that they are doing anything other than attempting to suppress by any means necessary.
And the end of the school year isn't going to help. Brown and Northwestern had the good sense to put the issue of divestment to a vote, thereby reaching a truce with the students.
But we’re headed toward the summer, the presidential contest, and the Dem convention in Chicago. Unlike 1968, where King and RFK assassinations fed a wave of discontent that led to Nixon’s election and the spiral that we have yet to emerge from, there is a real fascist waiting to assume control of the presidency and push us past the brink.
We might be living in the events of the moment that will break the experiment, a moment that portends “national suicide.”

WWhat I know is -- if we want peace and freedom and plenty, we're going to have to keep fighting for it. We just MUST. Fighting through tears.

I better understand the pushback against the term "Civil Rights Movement" because the term "Summer Racial Reckoning" isn't something I picked either
59:23 listening to Dr Carr talking reminds me of a guy I give a commentary on RUclips called Douglas Murray.
I found him as Dr Carr says "exquisite" because in this particular commentary he pontificated about the people coming to England from Africa & Asia (trying NOT to say middle east because we know it's a European construct) and saying how DARE they come to HIS country with their "ways of knowing" & "movement & memory".
They should kiss the European ground they walk on & be greatful that they was allowed to come so they must assimilate in order to prove their worthiness.
It was so wonderful (tongue placed firmly in cheek) to hear because it TOTALLY ignored centuries of colonial settler violence at the hands of the crown.
We are seeing the destruction of the concept of "American exceptionalism" & "Western values" because we know that it's a bunch of BS.

@2:44ff Although my mother donated to a school for " American Indian orphans run by the Catholic church from the 1960's until her passing in 2016, the abuse scandals only came out in the 2000's if memory serves.

As a child during our civil rights moments I lived in the Southern Hamlet, Covington GA. One Sunday afternoon me &my playmates heard the powerful voices of the people marching and singing.". We Shall Overcome we rushed to the front yard and saw that mass of black humanity coming over a hill. As they came by our dwelling space we disobyed our parents and joined the train. We marched to the up town "Jim Crow park in the square with the Confederate Statue that is still on display and the angry white beasts screaming and hurling their vulgar venom at us circa(1966/67). I remember its my living blood memory!!
My oldest daughter was born in Covington. In 1982 at Newton County Hospital . She's out of the Pitts, Gilstrap Family!.I remember many times visiting the square and the churches in the area on my visits!,
An "Ancestor" now who taught me to dance & instilled the love of music into my being lived in Covington GA . At the neighborhood laundry mat she would come and play Sweet Sweeter than honey" AREATHA 'S classic "Chain of Fools" on the jukebox and invite me& the younger children to dance with her in sheer joy &estacy. Her name is Vicky Gilstrap she was taken from this realm the summer of (1969) with some more teenagers they were hit by a train locomotive with no survivors. Another preteen whose name is "Susie" I didn't know her last name. I'm now 64 years evolved around the SUN. I can still recall the sadness and pain my mother felt as she read the notice of their transitioning that a sister friend had sent her via the postal service when we had moved from Covington GA back to a Hamlet in Waycross GA to the projects. I can tell you truths about dwelling in that space as a pre teen& teenager. Everytime I hear AREATHA 'S powerful instrument over the sound system in public spaces bending ¬es& wailing those notes 'Chain of Fools" I think of Vicky thank you Vicky for so generously sharing your love of AREATHA with me and my playmates and child I still love to dance with somebody who also love the joy of dancing. " May your Peace be Eternal"
I used this video for my class years ago; deep dive discussion that had powerful impact on students as atmosphere shifted to trauma. Blood memory as we talked about this with experience of African Americans . What is my language of origin?
