    I'm so glad Dr. Carr spoke about their culture of scarcity and epigenetic. They come from a situation where there was no abundance so violence and suspicion was the only way to protect resources. Which explains that need to conquer absolutely everything they see. It also destroys their narrative, that they conquered our lands through their intellect. They conquered our land directly through their much stronger predisposal to violence. That's why our people were both curious and welcoming when they landed on our shores. Our ancestors had food, shelter, security, and happiness in abundance and had ample time to evolve their knowledge and consciousness, which inherently makes one more peaceful.

    The Supreme Court has returned to its role as the defender of class privilege, racial hierarchy, and reaction.

    • @KB91879
      @KB91879 2 года назад +14

      It isn't a return, it's the court operating as it always does. 90+% of SC cases are ruled against the interest of regular people. And these rulings have been supported by "liberal" judges like RBG and conservatives alike. The court has always supported the united corporation of america. You have to look at the rulings as a whole and not just the hotbed topics known to rile up emotions. The Miranda ruing is getting no attention.

People choose over and over to avoid thinking. I’m so grateful for this convo.

I loved the answer from Lurie Daniels Favors about Both/And.. instead of either or Both/And seems to be imbedded in a African world view & either or which seems to be more binary & European worldview..A famous Jazz club on the West coast that I used to go to in the early 70's was called Both/And..it took me years to understand what was meant by the name.. Than I got it...! Thank You All For Such A Rich discussion ..!!

    Today's conversation made me stop several times and declare, "This has got to be their best conversation ever!" But then, I've wanted to shout something similar for the vast majority of the other 119. I would assume, as seasoned professors, journalists, teachers and leaders that you are, you've encountered fatigue, from the student, listener and reader, to the teacher, writer and speaker. However, you all's passion, persistence and positive expectancy for the work of liberation of our people through reeducation, and rebuilding continues to inspire and rejuvenate. I noted this in the interchange regarding "grace," 40 years in the wilderness, and the practical examples and models of cultural schools (Hebrew schools), a common language (Kiswahili, Mdr ntr or Hausa) and local networking and action centered in long term efforts like Knarrative, Knubia and the like. You reminded me, and I do believe others, of the power of one, committed, connected and steeped in awareness and consciousness of the cultural history and genius of us, AFRICANS, whether continental or diasporan. Ase. Asante sana.

    Wonderful show. I watch often after my Shabbat study and always feel edified in the intellectual conversations on In Class with Carr. I listen to you all on SXM and value your work and scholarship. I am a late diasporan, with deep Hebrew roots in Igbo Nigeria and Falasha Ethiopia. The Hebrew language is first African, then Asiatic and very close to my heart. The separation of Israel/Hebrew from 'Africa' has been a fatal blow to diasporans worldwide. Europeans always dress up as every culture and ethnicity in the movies, and they do it in real life in many ways as well. The North African and the Levantine we see today are the result of many exchanges of land rulership, imperialism and of course the Balfour Declaration. Israel as 'African' is valid and historical and needs to be accepted as a diasporan identity to be reclaimed in Africana scholarship. I know the message is long and sensitive, but its truth. Blessings

    Love Lurie contributions always,. This was a very enlightening conversation. If I did not have a positive mindset this world would drive me crazy. My spiritual Dad use to always talk about the jewish schools. He would say, the teachers would get the newspaper and share things about the Jews and point out to the student you are a Jew too. So at a very young age they are given the opportunity to identify with who they are. I believe in power of collective consciousness and meditation is a way of life for me. My sister and I both in our 60's were talking about the bricks, as Prof Hunter says" Bring your brick! What bricks are we bringing my sister asked and commented ,I don't have a brick. I told her you have a brick and you may not recognize it as a brick. It takes many bricks to build, one brick alone cannot build anything, combining your brink with another is the key. I told her I don't exactly know what my brick is either but that will not stop me from joining in and learning and expanding my mind and taking steps to apply what is being shared My thing is mind body and Spirit connection. bridging that gap. and I understand and know our thoughts truly can transform us, and heal us or destroy us. Health is our greatest wealth.🕊💕🕊

      My hesitation is that they will become more based in the political rhetoric of their chosen party and there will be more political ads telling us “what they are against then what they will do.” Believably is in the doing not in the saying! I may be wrong!

      @@artistsonthecuttingedge8510 Respectfully I think you are wrong. Cuz we're already there. But the masses if the popular vote if respected would show the true reflection of the country. All that said, the Titanic is sinking and I don't think the icebergs of Racism & Classism are fixable.

      @@kingofcontext9607 I will defer my position. As you state “we are already there”. Of course there should be a way to make them more responsible to “the people”. But when they do not believe what they say nor what was written, the people are left with hypocrisy. Fundamentally African people are different from Europeans and our individual ways of seeing the world is so different. In the past we did not understand their way of knowing and now that we do., we say “get out of the way”, we do not care what others think of us. Fubu Thank you for this platform.

    We all (well most of us) are rooted in our NATURAL Blackness, the African that comes through in our connection to a natural world, the laws of the natural world, the physics of the universe. Its embodied in a respect for elders, a nurturing and sacrificing for future generations, an unconscious desire for the connection and the collective.
    Unlike the european who has been raised in cultures of selfishness and scarcity, we are a people of plentiful and abundance. even when we are poor, your children can eat with mine! If you are having a hard time, we will take your children in. This is where our beautiful Blackness is seated. We only lose this when the white mind eclipses the Black. And like an eclipse, it merely makes a shift of perspective to bask in the brightness of our blackness!

      @@politicallil7060 I need to differ. It has nothing to do with being savvy. We’re trying to navigate a broken, two-faced, prejudiced, reprehensible system that picks and chooses what Justice to administer and to whom. As Karen said, the system must be dismantled. The people ARE being educated on the tools to do it.
