And you can flip that in reverse like a palindrome… Military automatically means (synonymous with) white; I can’t tell you how often ppl outside of military towns/areas give me looks when they see my veteran tags,To the point I’ve actually had a few try to check me on parking. “Did you realize where you parked?!” “Did you read my tags?”

I read Beloved, a few years ago. It was depressing but opened my eyes to horrors that I didn’t know existed. My grandmother in Barbados never spoke of those things; we were shielded/protected in many ways when we were children growing up in the Caribbean.

Thank you both for your insightful and always thought provokings conversations! Abortion views are very personal which makes it the decision of the two people who made the baby not you or me, not the state and certainly not the government of the US. Now, once the decision is made by the couple or woman, if she is deciding alone, the
consequences of that decision falls on the individuals involved, NOT THE COUNTRY! Let us not get this twisted!! When black folks are murdered in the STREET, that should be the topic forever and EVERYBODY should be concern and turning that concern into action, meaning joining groups that are ACTIVELY FIGHTING against this type of ABORTION!!!

The effect of the imaginary boundaries in the myth Nigeria and the agitations for ethnic identities in the face of the state/national malfunctions. It’s brilliant to view Nigeria is a crime scene viz-a-viz colonialism and current national crisis. This is great food for thought for Nigerians and beyond. Thank you 🙏 for the insightful thoughts.

The right to choose is as much of a liberty as it is economical. Black Women are running a Boston, creating businesses and building wealth, many already have children but the right to choice has allowed some to continue to achieve their economic dreams before raising a family. This is also true for women of all races.

I'll say this part; as much as I love this series and the direction it takes for healing Africans of the diaspora...love life is a topic that is not mentioned much at all. For me, I think that is the SINGLE biggest aspect holding us back as a people for one but secondly a lot of the dynamics of the Black love life mimic the practices of white supremacy. That, Black love and relationships, is a much overlooked topic for In Class with Carr AND Knarrative.

All unplannned kods should be dropped off at the fathers house and we will see how quickly things change! Why are there so many single mothers ? Why do we have to raise children alone while men disappear or visit.

Unsolicited reflection as a white guy: the words starting at 1:06:22 stood out to me... "Black people exist in the United States of America- in the narrative of American identity, US identity- Black people exist as examples of the progress of white people." - I'm embarrassed to say that while this obviously (intentionally) doesn't explain the totality of Black lives in America, I know that this is how some 'progressive' white people conceptualize Black communities, being a 'progressive' white person myself. For many people 'social progress' is more valuable as a political trophy to wield rather than a sincere ambition to achieve. I hope other white people make time to reflect on what it means for someone like Dr. Carr to be saying those words in an illustrative sense.
