For a Mid Priced Combo you guys should try a Dobyns Kaden 6'10 Medium Moderate Fast with a Daiwa Tatula SV TW 70 reel and 12 lb test Sunline Sniper. My favorite jerkabits to throw are Lucky Craft Pointer 100, Pointer 78, Staycee 78 and Evergreen FA-115. I throw all the main Megabass Jerkbaits on it including the 110, 110+1 and 110 +2 as well as the Juniors. I have not tried the Rerange or the World Minnow but they will be on my next buy list on Tackle Warehouse. Jackall, Shimano and Tactical Bassin have never let me down so I know il be getting quality products! Great video as always guys!!
I thought this would be the fastest buyers guide ever. 110, 110+1, 110 jr, 110 jr+1, 110 max. Expride 6'10" M, Aldebaran. Thanks have a nice day. It took about two minutes. LMAO Yes I have watched your videos for so many years I know. You guys really doing something so special we cannot thank you enough. Thank you for all you do.

You obviously don’t know what you’re talking about. They have been putting out videos for years of them catching bass on the baits they recommend so do your research before you talk out of the side of your neck.
@@BostonDonDaDaShark88yeah get this clown out of here. I’ve caught my PBs solely because of their bait suggestions but mainly HOW to use the baits. this dude clearly has no idea what he’s talking about. TB is the ONLY fishing channel.
It's my birthday! Literally and also because another buyer's guide! I'm in California and fish some of the same reservoirs that these guys use as teaching tools even my son knows their names and he's only seven! I love being able to show him when they show a map or graph example that that is our lake! I also love the buyer's guides because it does truly help you from keeping Breaking the Bank being able to be informed and have the knowledge of why you are spending money on the gear or bait or line and having that confidence and allowing people instead of wasting money to find a starting point that works for them and then expand wow still being able to enjoy the sport🎉🎉🎉
I strongly agree with what is said in the last minute, Jerbait fishing is the most active way of fishing, you really need a short AND light combo, I have done multiple 5 hr+ day jerkbait fishing, I used a Curado MH spinning rod with a Sahara C3000 reel, after the end of my fishing trip each time, my wrist and shoulder just felt so sore. I have switched to Vanford 2500S + Expride 264M+, best combo for me.
Thanks to you guys, I went from never fishing a jerkbait to it being one of my primary confidence baits. I picked up a Zodias 6'10" M and paired it with an SLX 70 MGL. After the first time fishing it, I ordered a second one. It is such a versatile rod! I always have one with me with a jerkbait tied on but the second is usually a utility rod. Some days it has a second jerkbait with a different dive depth; some days it's got my topwater bait; it's great with a 1/4 oz Tactical underspin. I took a cue from your speed cranking video from last year when I set up these rods and went with a light braid mainline with a 10-15 yd 10# fluoro leader. No worry about line memory or elasticity causing the bait to creep on the pause, casting distance is insane and I'm only replacing the leader regularly, not an entire spool of expensive fluoro.
I still can't believe how AMAZING the 6'10" Med Expride is for Jerkbaits. I have mine paired with a Chronarch, and it is just incredible (and so LIGHT). I got it 2 years ago when you guys talked about it and it is my most used and has been my favorite since, and I beat that thing UP and it is still just as good as day 1! Thank you guys for these vids and all you do!
Love you guys for what you do and how you do it! Top notch and ive learned and incorporated a lot into my fishing. Speed cranking and jerk baiting have taken over from October through the prespawn for me in MA! Last year I took info from your buyers guide and got the 6’10” medium curado rod and paired it with a 71 Curado MGL and it’s a game changer for jerks. I also go with 10-12lb flouro. You guys are spot on! Strike King does make some good and affordable deep jerks that I use when fishing over 10 feet of water. Happy Holidays!
This is my favorite buyers guide of the year.Im going to try adding that small shimano post spawn it will have a big shoe to fill Lc 100 flash pointer sp is my go to all summer but in tactical i trust lol.
The Zumverno is the real deal. I was watching bass come up and look at a 110 Jr. and bail. Switched to the Zumverno and they didn't even pause to look that day and flat smashed it. Got lucky that I didn't lose it when an 8-ish pound channel cat decided it liked the look of it as well. Stock hooks survived that encounter without bending out either.
Great video fellows . I'm a jerkbait nut . I fish Dale Hollow and Lake Erie. I watched twice always learn something thanks . You can always teach an old dog a new trick
I’m absolutely in LOVE with that Daiwa Hidden Concept line for moving baits!! Cranking, Jerking Chatterbaits it’s astonishing!! Super small diameter! It’s really hard to see so don’t use it for techniques that require you to see your line.
Everyone raved about the vision 110. I had very little success on it. I don’t consider myself an expert on jerkbait fishing. But I’ve done better since going back to a suspending rogue.
I started with the lucky craft pointer but never caught a bass. Last year I saw your video on the Vision 110 and 110 jr and I slayed them last year. I then added the Shimano World Minnow this year and landed my PB smallmouth in Canada in May. Lately I added the Shimano Zumverno when I saw your video and have actually done better than on the Vision 110 jr I think due to the flash boost. The peacock bass in my lake also go crazy for the flash boost in the zumverno and I have caught some 3 lb + peacocks and now need to upgrade my hooks so I ordered the Hayabusa hooks 😉
Great video on one of my favorite subjects. I started out with a SLX 6'10" M with a SLX mgl 70xg and it was actually amazing for the price. Now I use an Expride with a Curado mgl 70xg and it's my favorite combo
Great guide guys! The World Minnow is great, but have you tried the World Diver as well? It is like the World Minnow, with the same Shimano technology, but as a deep diver. I LOVE THIS BAIT 😁
Yes, we've smashed on the world diver as well. It doesn't work in as many situations (that's why it's lacking in this video where we've narrowed down the baits) but it's a serious fish catcher!
I will preach on this the falcon EVO in 6’6 and the HD model in 6’8 are killer jerk bait rods for right around 80 bucks one you can get at Walmart and one from tackle wear house pair them with a Lews LFS and they balance the best of any rod I own and fish from high end to low end they are some of the best for me
Matt and Tim So looking at the different models of 6'10"M rods from Shimano (Expride, Curado, SLX), on TW, I noticed 1 major thing. They all have different actions. Expride - Mod-Fast Curado - Fast SLX - Ex-Fast What is it that allows you guys to say that the Actions are so similar even though each step down in price gets a "Faster" action?
Great question! In some regards we don't agree with those ratings (but love the actions). But its also important to understand that as you move around price points with materials they have different attributes. It may take a different action in a naturally slower material to achieve the same end result as a higher end material.
Really appreciate your videos. Would you be willing to share the actual time you calculated for the bass to inhale and then spit the jerkbait? Very curious. Thank you.
First, love every Tactical video every day! I fish from a kayak and use a 6'7" rode bc that's what I have at the moment for jerkbaits...still slap the water occasionally. Is there a better option for rod and length or should I modify my retrieve? Thanks
Should work great! It’s more about the power and action of the rod, tbh. You don’t want to go too short or you won’t be able to fight a fish around the front of your kayak and you don’t want to learn that lesson in real time, ha!
As a fellow kayak angler, you just have to modify the retrieve. I've got probably 20 hours of throwing a jekbait in the last week and my hands are tired, but it is what it is. I switched from a 6'7" ALX to a 6'10" Zodias and I'm happy with that move. Better casting distance and more rod to load up once the fish is hooked.
I wanted to start jerkbait fishing. I saw your video about the Expride 1610M and I bought it without any researching after. Thank you so much. Such a great channel. I can trust blindly. But I have a very important question. I hear a lot about the right line. 6,8,10-12 test lines. But, what if when we got a lot big fish in the river, like Catfish, Pike and Zander as well? I would know, how max can I go with this rod? The SIC guiders are tiny. Which fluo ist the right between power and handling the jerkbait? Thank so much guys.
Do you guys have any experience with the Shimano Poison Adrena 6' 10" Medium? I picked one up last year in March since the 6'10" Expride was unavailable at the time and it is an incredible jerkbait rod but also can fish finesse jigs and finesse paddle tails. Paired it with a Daiwa Zillion and it's absolutely money
I know this is late. Looking to get something new for the fishing I do every tournament. What size orochi xx and power you throwing. Have you tried the x10?
Do I need to replace the split rings for the weight ? Or just durability? Live in Ohio don’t have gaint bass but want to increase my hook ups with upgrading my hooks but not sure if i need the spilt rings to ?
I can't believe how expensive fishing has gotten. New this and new that for baits and lures that you really don't need to catch fish. Keep it simple and keep it affordable and keep it fun.
What is wrong with the stock megabass Katsuage outbarb hooks? I’ve always just left them and had good luck with fish getting hooked and staying hooked with the barbs on the outside.
You want the med fast. The glass rod absorbs too much of the shock when imparting twitches and jerks to the bait. Resulting in more sluggish surges to your jerk bait instead of those snappy pops. That med fast is also plenty forgiving while fighting fish. Occasionally if I have a big smallie and they go on a hard boat side run I’ll free spool the reel and thumb em but that’s more of a personal preference.
The action on the 6'10" M Shimanos is interesting. The backbone of the rod is very parabolic like a moderate or mod-fast, while the tip is fast or possibly even extra-fast. The Expride has been listed as both a F and MF action depending on which edition you look at. The action hasn't changed. That hybrid action is what makes it a great jerkbait rod. I'm fairly sure the Zodias and the Expride share the same blank and the difference in price is in the cork handle and different reel seat.
Guys, please the SOFT plastic jerkbait buyers guide. I'm a fluke fanatic who can't live without knowing what yall use. Also @tim check out the 3in yamasenkos that's my go to BFS Ned rig trailer
Does the megabass sale go through at the end of the purchase process, or did they take it out completely? The discount was visible when the sale first went live but disappeared a few hours later
As per tackle warehouse, Megabass changed their mind and pulled them from the sale. I know because I had some in my cart. After going back to it later, the sale price was gone! Nice huh?!
Regarding the hooks, one would think that the manufacturers should do similar research that you guys have done. And if so, they should be using these hooks as their stock hooks. Perhaps you have already presented this information to Megabass and Shimano? But from their point of view, they want to sell baits, and increasing the price slightly might negatively impact their sales.
MB hooks are really specifically designed to hook fish that even swipe at a bait, they're aware there are stronger hooks out there but actively chose the hooks that ended up on the baits. Shimano, no idea. I do not like the stock hooks on the Shimano jerks at all.
The hooks on the Vision 110 are proprietary Megabass hooks specific to the 110. The bend is unique and the hook barb is on the outside of the hook. They're not the strongest, but they are sticky as all get out. The Jr. uses "normal" hooks. Some of the "special" JDM 110s use totally different hooks as well. You can't make everyone happy with factory hardware, no matter what you decide to go with, someone is going to be unhappy so you go with what you, as the designer and manufacturer, think works best. If someone doesn't like that, they can change the hooks out.
The hooks are fine your either using to powerful of a rod or not lite enough fluorocarbon. 99% percent of the time it’s user error. I’ve caught giants on the stock hooks never had a problem. Stop blaming Megabass and take a good look in the mirror.
@@Daiwa_Is_King - Um, who said anything about me having trouble catching fish? Instead of looking in the mirror, you should just read comments more carefully before attacking the person commenting. I was just suggesting something for the manufactures to think about, since most pros and great fishermen/fisherwomen change out hooks from most that come standard. Wow.
I’m going to put size 4 trebles on my vision 110 plus one and there’s nothing Matt can do to stop me. I might not ever catch a fish, but he will be haunted knowing somewhere in eastern pa, there is a vision 110 not living up to its potential 😈🤣🤣🤣
This guide is about narrowing down baits that work in more situations. We've eliminated a ton of great baits for the sake of simplicity and while not bashing the bait in any way, It's way down the list of baits we'd add back in.
Thank you for responding, and for the top notch content. The Berkley Stunna has been a top producer for us here on Lake Martin. My Visions have been a little better deeper.
😂😂😂ah yes the Berkley Stunna, another bait that was made to copy the 110. Very original berkley what are you guys gonna knock off this year at ICAST. 🤦♂️
I totally respect you guys. But I think you have become truly out of touch with the vast majority of people who actually fish. I'm sorry telling anyone they need to buy a $25 jerkbait to catch fish. Tells me how out touch you are. Here's a little knowledge, out of 100% who fish 1% fish professionally, 15% fish from fancy boats and buy expensive shit. 85% buy there shit from place like Walmart and fish from the bank. Actually a lot of you on RUclips are way out of touch with the vast majority.
If you take this Buyer's Guide series as a whole, I think your opinion will change. We work very hard to reach all groups and find products that meet their individual needs. Find anyone else that knows the best "bang for the buck" rods at $50, $100, and $1000 and treats the categories equally. Now add in that they're beholden to no one and will tell you the truth. We're not telling anyone they NEED a Vision 110. We're telling you that if it's in your budget, it will catch more fish, in more situations, than the bargain bin bait will. We have other videos specifically dedicated to the best inexpensive baits from around the sport, this isn't that video. We hope that clears up the misunderstanding of what this content is for.
We need a summer jerkbait fishing breakdown this year. Absolute sleeper summer technique.

I have the new zodias in 6'10" Med, but it's listed as mod-fast. Curious if you have compared it to the other models 6'10" m fast
Would you recommend the stick 110 or the Expride? I’m a kayak angler, 5’8”.
Also I live on Lake Erie so big smallies and walleyes
Guys, please the SOFT plastic jerkbait buyers guide. I'm a fluke fanatic who can't live without knowing what yall use. Also @tim check out the 3in yamasenkos that's my go to BFS Ned rig trailer
They get alot of hate, but the Googan Dart soft jerkbait is the best I've used...caught multiple 5's & a 7 this year...trophies for ohio
@andybales7318 thank you! I'll give it a chance, I'm normally throwing super fluke or elastek baits. I'm excited to try something new.
@@marshmellow303 make sure u use a screw lock hook...makes them last a little longer
Does the megabass sale go through at the end of the purchase process, or did they take it out completely? The discount was visible when the sale first went live but disappeared a few hours later
To our knowledge, Megabass is included in the sale and just can't be advertised as such. If you find out differently let us know.
As per tackle warehouse, Megabass changed their mind and pulled them from the sale. I know because I had some in my cart. After going back to it later, the sale price was gone! Nice huh?!
Need to take out a loan for this technique I’ll tell ya 🙄🤦🏻♂️😂
😂 It's getting rough for sure!
expride medium glass OR the moderate fast version of the 6'10" ?
It's NOT the glass model 👍🏼
Difference in the shimano expride medium and medium glass? Which would you recommend?
NOT the glass. That's a crankbait rod, you want the other.
@@tacticalbassin Thank you
Is the curado 70 a better option than a curado 150dc?
Yes, it will cast lighter baits further.
expride 6'10 medium moderate fast?
Wow.
Opinion on Megabass P5 Windbuster as a spinning jerkbait rod?
It can definitely throw them no problem. I use it in a pinch if I have to but it’s mostly a bottom contact rod for me.
But it was designed for throwing hard baits so ya it’s an amazing rod that can do a lot of things.
Friendly reminder to stretch if you fish jerkbaits. Don't mess up your upper body!
I’m going to put size 4 trebles on my vision 110 plus one and there’s nothing Matt can do to stop me. I might not ever catch a fish, but he will be haunted knowing somewhere in eastern pa, there is a vision 110 not living up to its potential 😈🤣🤣🤣
😂😂😂😂
I personally hate the hooks on the megabass sharp but very week
I love you guys, but if you are not including Berkley Stunna, this guide is incomplete. Why are you fellows leaving out one of the best on the market?
This guide is about narrowing down baits that work in more situations. We've eliminated a ton of great baits for the sake of simplicity and while not bashing the bait in any way, It's way down the list of baits we'd add back in.
Thank you for responding, and for the top notch content. The Berkley Stunna has been a top producer for us here on Lake Martin. My Visions have been a little better deeper.
😂😂😂ah yes the Berkley Stunna, another bait that was made to copy the 110. Very original berkley what are you guys gonna knock off this year at ICAST. 🤦♂️
You guys make me want to buy more jerkbaits, stop it😅
Ha! Sorry about that!
I have a weakness for these 😢😥😓
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaand........... The Expride 6'10 medium is sold out lol
😂😂😂
But the Zodias isn't ;)
first
Haha
@tacticalbassin got a under 200$ spinning rod for small poppers like the 1/4oz yellow magic
