I’ve had the Expride for a couple of years and love it for jerkbaits and my balsa crankbaits. I have it paired with Shimano’s Curado MGL 150.. I really appreciate this comparison video. 👊👍👍👍👍😎
Tactical bassin can be credited for promoting the Expride 610 m for being one of the best jerkbait rods. I broke my first one and waited over a year to replace it due to being sold out everywhere. Thanks for the vid. Peace out be safe
I like braid to leader for crisply hitting a jerkbait, the Tatula Elite is forgiving enough to keep those fish pinned. For Fluro, the other two rods get the nod.
My style of jerk bait fishing tends to lean towards the medfast rod. It has enough bend to allow me to fight the fish while keeping a great hook-up ratio. Even in my area, I have folks who feel the ML mod fast is the best to fight larger smallmouth. Thankfully we dont have to pick fishing rods using the one size fits everyone approach. Much like choosing a pistol or rifle, it is an extension of the angler and what feels best in the hand, and allowing them to impart technique with less effort is always the best choice. The bend test in your video gives a great demonstration of how each rod is different in its actions and how it can benefit different anglers. Now if we can just figure out how to make fit and feel work in a video. Thanks for the information and a quality video.
You're totally right, everyone has their own unique situation that they need to find the best rod for! Hopefully this helps some people pick what's best for them.
Excellent topic for a rod comparison. I had been throwing jerk baits on spinning rods, using braid to leader exclusively. Bought my 1st b/c rod last year for j/b fishing. I called T.W. for advise. Told them I was on a budget. They recommended the St. Croix mojo 6’8 Med XF. Found one online for $100. It worked out great! This video will save anglers countless hours of watching RUclips videos, and calling around, trying to find the right rod as I did. 😂 Great job! 👍
I'm partial to spinning rods for jerkbait fishing, even though I predominantly use casting setups. I run the Shimano Zodias 6'9" Medium Fast spinning rod, very similar action to what you described with the Expride. Good breakdown.
This is what we need, thanks for this! The only feedback I'd offer is to find a way to show how the rods all flex under exact amounts of pressure/weight. Hook up to a scale so you can see the pounds of pressure or use a snap and attach 3 different weights to show how the rod loads under different circumstances. Keep it up fellas, I'll be back for more
Deep jerkbajts the expride is better. It’s nice having that extra backbone to set the hook on a fish in 15 feet of water on a long cast. Shallow water the tatula elite is great.
great video. It would be nice if you guys included maybe a chart of the rods bends on the same grid during each demonstration. Similarly to the later shots where you have 3 separate videos running, but on the same grid so we have a better way to see the comparison.
Funny, I have some high priced rods but I absolutely love my 13 Defy Black and Omen rods! My jerkbait rod used to be a Saint Croix but I find myself liking my 6’7” 13 Defy Black moderate/fast rod more… for $69 I can’t believe how well it works 🤷🏼♂️🎣
Some say an extra fast action to get the best action while others say mod fast to keep the hooks pinned. I use a medium powered fast action. Works for me.
If you’re gonna do this, you need to include the Megabass P5 destroyer 110 stick. It’s hands-down the best For that 110 size jerkbait. It might seem small for some people, but it is so good.
The Oneten Special is a terrific rod, hands down. Who could make a better rod for the Vision 110? However, we wanted the choice to be made by the Omnia community so we made the rod choices based on fishing reports and sales data and the Oneten Special wasn't in the top
I'm confident GLoomis makes an excellent jerkbait rod as well, but that's not really what these videos are about. These are the rods most people who buy from Omnia are using for a Jerkbait rod. The P5 Destroyer and the NRX+ are for the enthusiasts. I've never seen another angler with a Megabass rod in any of their lines on the water.
I know y'all don't carry them, but the HEIMDALL from sixgillfishing is my personal favorite JB rod. It's purpose built with the exact actions you want and need in a JB rod...all these others are still great rods, but I just think the Heimdall fishes better. Keep up with these videos, I like it a lot...next, do flipping rods, then chatterbait/spinnerbait rods. There's a lot of different thoughts and opinions on these two actions. I definitely agree that VICTORY is the best bang for the buck in the industry... they're awesome.
Shimano Expride 264M+ with Vanford 2500S/C3000S, nothing is better than this combo, extremely light, and shorter rod can make you twitch it all day without fatigue.
I have that Expride 6'10" Medium paired with the JDM Shimano SLX DC XT. Best jerkbait rod out there, in my opinion. My other favorite, especially for your smaller baits like the 119Jr., Is my little 6'8" Medium Megabass Triza Travel Rod with the same reel. Both rods are light as a feather and have that perfect bend to impart the right action on your jerkbait and still keep fish pinned on those small trebles. Would highly recommend either one of these rods...
I have an older St croix and the Expride. I like the Expride a lot more. I do not like the Xfast action compared to the modfast Expride. I think it is the perfect jerkbait rod.
I have the Expride and the Victory, and I prefer the Victory for jerkbaits. The Expride is too stiff for jerkbaits for me. The Victory, while extra fast, has a soft enough tip to keep fish pinned but stiff enough to work the bait. I also appreciate the shorter handle on the Victory. I bought the Expride after the Victory and I kind of wish I would've just stuck with the Victory.
I just broke my Expride 6-10 med which was the original Expride model before the A model. In the Express warranty Shimano is sending me an Expride 6-10 M. Will be interesting to see if it fishes with the same action for jerkbaits. Anyone have any experience with the the two? or the A vs the B Expirde jerkbait rods?
@Gophacyerself i think what Omnia is trying to say that from the Omnia fishing community, their feedback seems to favor certain rods. I agree with you that it is subjective. On the same token, the feedback from other anglers may help in making a better decision purchase. At the end of the day, you will find whatever rod works best for you.
St. Croix victory is an embarrassment concept 0 guides on a $200 rod Fuji cheapest guide. St. Croix doesn’t take pride in their product any more cheap components, crooked blanks, horrible epoxy and thread work. Megabass levante and Daiwa tatula elite are the best bang for the buck right now. Seth fielders jerkbait rod is very good with vision 110 and 110 jr +1.
If you want an in-depth review of a St Croix jerkbait rod give this a view, (Omnia also sells this St Croix line of rods.) ruclips.net/video/XXt0WmQyDuo/видео.html
I love that 6’10” medium Expride paired with the cheap SLX reel! It’s also a great rod for blade baits!
Do you mind sharing how much your 6’10 weighs?
I’ve had the Expride for a couple of years and love it for jerkbaits and my balsa crankbaits. I have it paired with Shimano’s Curado MGL 150.. I really appreciate this comparison video. 👊👍👍👍👍😎
Do you have any issues with losing fish because of how stiff the rod is?
@@2AA11Day I have never lost a fish on my Expride rods🤷🏻♂️ and I have caught a couple of 4lbers👍
@@willperryman4559 Good to know. Thx
Please do more of these. SUPER helpful!!!!!!!
More are on the way!
Extremely helpful. Looking forward to more rod comparisons. Every rod shop needs your grid on the wall.
Fantastic video boys!
Thanks Tyler!

Love this breakdown, hopefully we see more of these. Thank you Omnia
I like braid to leader for crisply hitting a jerkbait, the Tatula Elite is forgiving enough to keep those fish pinned. For Fluro, the other two rods get the nod.
Great comment and I was thinking about getting that rod for jerk baits with braid/leader and topwater with braid
My style of jerk bait fishing tends to lean towards the medfast rod. It has enough bend to allow me to fight the fish while keeping a great hook-up ratio. This series is awesome! Can't wait to see more!
Thanks!

That's the goal! Save you time in store so you have more time to fish
I’m interested in the spinning rods for jerk baits, so if possible, can you share me with some choices for the rods, thanks!
I'm partial to spinning rods for jerkbait fishing, even though I predominantly use casting setups. I run the Shimano Zodias 6'9" Medium Fast spinning rod, very similar action to what you described with the Expride. Good breakdown.
These rod comparisons are legit! This is what i have been searching for forever!
Very helpful!! Would love to see a vid with dropshot rods!
All different price point.
Looking forward to more rod reviews for cranking, dropshot, frogging
This is what we need, thanks for this! The only feedback I'd offer is to find a way to show how the rods all flex under exact amounts of pressure/weight.
Hook up to a scale so you can see the pounds of pressure or use a snap and attach 3 different weights to show how the rod loads under different circumstances.

Please keep this series going I like this. I been thinking about trying that expride everybody raves about that one and diawa as well
Very helpful! I look forward to seeing more of these comparisons. What about those of us who like to use a spinning rod for jerk bait fishing.
Spinning rods for jerkbait fishing is for sure a way to do it! If a lot of people want to see that we could do that comparison for sure.
I'd love to see some recommendations for jerk bait spinning rods. Orochi XX Ronin is the only one I've seen and it's a little pricey for me
I have the kistler jerkbait rod, and it's phenomenal. It's a light medium heavy. Check it out. Very unique, good for all size jerkbaits.
Deep jerkbajts the expride is better. It’s nice having that extra backbone to set the hook on a fish in 15 feet of water on a long cast. Shallow water the tatula elite is great.
Really liked this! Hope to see some more brand to brand comparisons like this with Dobyns in the mix!
Stay tuned! We might have a Dobyn's rod or two coming up
Awesome! Hopefully you guys make a series comparing all kinds of rods!
We have more lined up!
Thanks for the video, very informative. I have a daiwa tatula medium moderate for my jerkbaits.
great video. It would be nice if you guys included maybe a chart of the rods bends on the same grid during each demonstration. Similarly to the later shots where you have 3 separate videos running, but on the same grid so we have a better way to see the comparison.

Can't beat that price if it's a good rod!
Some say an extra fast action to get the best action while others say mod fast to keep the hooks pinned. I use a medium powered fast action. Works for me.

I went with the Expride B with Shamino 151HG MGL
Awesome and thanks for sharing!!! got to share this on my fb.
Shimano Expride 264M+ with Vanford 2500S/C3000S, nothing is better than this combo, extremely light, and shorter rod can make you twitch it all day without fatigue.

Awesome review!!
My favorite rod for medium jerk fishing is the EVERGREEN LIGHT CAVALRY CLCC-611MH 👌.
This needs to be done with more rods in this group...110 stick, kvd jerk bait rod, just to see what's up!
Hands down the best jerkbait rod is the Shimano Expride 6'-10" M.
If you know you know.
I have an older St croix and the Expride. I like the Expride a lot more. I do not like the Xfast action compared to the modfast Expride. I think it is the perfect jerkbait rod.
That L-shaped bend to the Croix...🤣🤣🤣
Never seen an L like that before. Love my medium x-fast St Croix rod I’ve caught a ton of fish on it
Right on! 👊💪
Tacticalbassin got everyone on the expride train
I’d like to see this with Crankbait rods since I’m buying a new one next month.
I don't crank much but I picked up the 6th sense esp. Budget friendly and a good rod.
Big giant Smallmouth you want the Tatula for landing percentage.
This was intresting!
would the daiwa double as a square bill 1.5 rod ?
This is tremendously helpful looking forward to more.
I love st croix rods! But that is not what I’m lookin for in a jerk bait rod…
You gotta include the poison ultima 610 M
I miss the Megabass One Ten (Japan and US version).
How much does the 6’10M expride weigh? My next potential purchase.
No Dobyns?
No Megabass one ten stick?
I think the Dobyns Kaden KD610-4CB is a great jerkbait rod.
Matt Allen is the reason for the Expride being the most popular jerkbait rod
Megabass P5 One Ten Stick is the one
My first tine throwing a jerkbait it touched the water and a tank smallie hit it , didn't even have time to jerk it. 😅
If only it was that easy!
Why not mention price points?
Links to each rod but if you want the best it's gonna the expride or megabass.
Ark reinforcer 6'8 med. The best there is.
I use the cheaper Curado 6'10 twin to the Expride no difference
throw in a 610 medium shimano zodias
I use the 6'10" m/mf Shimano for Chatterbaits...🤷
I probably wouldn’t have embarrassed the competition by comparing them to the Megabass P5 One Ten stick or the One Ten Special either.
Restock your rod inventory damn fam. It’s not 2020!
Just because them 3 rods have the highest sales don’t mean their the best.
Completely subjective. Did you try every single jerkbait rod? So, I don't think you can objectively pick a "best" rod.
It’s well known now that the expride 6’10 medium is THE JERKBAIT ROD
Probably some old man using a good ugly stick. Catching more fish and not worrying about it breaking.
St. Croix victory is an embarrassment concept 0 guides on a $200 rod Fuji cheapest guide.
