  • Let's talk jerkbaits!! In today's Buyer's Guide we're covering all the important questions you need to know the answers to! Which jerkbaits are best? Which sizes and colors should you focus on for different situations? Should you throw the same model all year? And what rod do you need to work a jerkbait properly?
    We love jerkbaits! Their ability to trigger a feed response in wary bass is remarkable and once mastered, is something you can use to consistently catch big bass. Understanding what different jerkbaits are designed for and how to fish them effectively is the missing piece of the puzzle. We've got you covered!
    Below you'll find links to all the baits and equipment discussed in the video. You'll also find information on color recommendations, jerkbaits rods, and our previous buyer's guides. All the links go directly to Tackle Warehouse where you can see detailed photos and descriptions of each item.

    Thank you, gentlemen! Interesting little exchange about how you always seem to end up teaching in these. I don't think we ever stop teaching and learning; I know it makes me smile when a random passer-by asks what I am fishing for. I don't get as many teaching opportunities as I used to, but I cherish them when they do come along. Thanks!

    Fantastic 2022 Jerkbait video! These buyers guides have me at the edge of my family's budget in spending, LOL! This year's buyer guide is a bit more narrow than December 2021. For example you dropped the rip stop (one of my favorites) or anything from Rapala and the Slimjack. Did either brand not do well in 2022? Also I am amazed that the Megabass Orochi Ronin spinning beat the Poison Adrena 6'11" spinning for jerkbaits in your guide. I do understand the Megabass Orochi Ronin was built for the Vision 110, but the action just doesn't seem as dialed in as the Adrena. That said, my math may be a bit off.

    • @tacticalbassin
      @tacticalbassin  Год назад +3

      We really appreciate your perspective! This one is more narrow because we just did an in depth jerkbait video. We wanted this to focus on the key boats that we use all the time instead of on the whole spectrum. The Adrena may have slipped by us... thats very interesting because I can picture exactly what you mean... I'll take a 2nd look. 👍🏼

    Thank you guys for the amazing tips! I would have a question regarding reels. Is the Metanium MGL good also for this type of fishing and or topwater walking/popping? Asp here in Europe really love topwater baits and jerkbaits too. I’m looking for a reel with which I could maybe cover some distance, but if I want to go close to the shore, I could easily throw lighter 3/16oz or 1/4oz baits like the Daiwa Wise Minnow 50. Also how does the Bantam deal with these types of baits if you don’t mind me asking?

  • @kevinbeaudean704
    @kevinbeaudean704 Год назад +1

    Thanks guys. I understand that the vision 110 is the heat. There just has to be other options that are close. I don't have your experience on jerkbaits but have been throwing some yo-zuri baits that suspend perfect and the action from above looks great. Yo-Zuri also has a very shallow option I need for the tidal fishery I fish.
    Rapala have huge followings from pros to Joe's. My buddy kills on X-Raps and you just cannot ignore that.
    I feel you two should remember your roots and go a little blue collar. Honestly very and I mean very few people I compete against throw G Loomis rods (and that's because they need all the help they can get) or vision 110s or megabass of any kind. I am not busting balls here I just think times are getting tough and I think you feel you cater to all but really you can be a bit much. Sorry guys.

    Spinning gear is 100% the way to go unless your concerned about cover. I go shorter than most fishing from a kayak but from a boat I’d imagine 6’6”-6’10”. Further casting and lighter line makes a huge difference for depth along with excellent action and the ability to keep fish pinned better.

    I've been waiting on this one. I've got the Expride and the Ronin and love them both, but their almost identical as far as the specs. Ones 2" shorter, but the lure rating is the same. I'm wanting to drop to smaller jerkbaits like the Megabass x-nanahan, but cast them out as far. I'm not currently throwing braid to leader on the spinning rod, so that would help. I'm wondering if you guys have some time with the Megabass Whipsnake since it's a little longer and rated for smaller lures. Then, I think I'll have my jerkbait system dang near dialed in, and I'll just have to work dialing down my cadences.

      I really like the Destroyer P5 Baby Plugging for smaller jerkbaits like the X-Nanahan, Pointer 65, OSP Asura and the like.

    What separates the Ronin from the Expride 6'8" medium spinning rod in regards to a jerkbait? I see that Ronin is rated for up to 3/4 oz and didn't know if that's just what separates it.

    If I’ve said it one time I’ve said it a hundred times….jerk bait fishing is my Kryptonite! I have a dedicated rod and reel for it, but I just don’t get bites. I know it’s user error, but my frustration level is not good. I appreciate videos like this that give me tips like line and pause times and brands that I have not considered.

    The expride casting rod comes in a 6"10 mod fast and 6'10 fast, which is the one you guys recommend for jerkbaits? You guys just mentioned medium power but not action for the rod. Thanks.

    Why doesn’t anyone ever talk about the strike king kvd jerkbaits? Ive tried several different ones and by far the strike king gets bit, and catches giants on my local lake. Thanks for the videos, you’ve made me such a better angler!

    Hey guys been watching your videos for a while and finally have a question. I'm looking for a unicorn of a rod. One of my favorite techniques for high pressure lakes is a 3" jerkbait
    Most of the time that puts them in the 1/4oz territory. I can't find a spinning rod I like to save my life! Have the expride/aldebaran for 110s/provokes but I can't find one for the finesse! Please help!

    Hi Matt and Tim
    Us bank fishermen need to be minimalist as far as the tackle we carry. What two rods, reels and line set ups would work for all or most bass fishing applications.
    With Gratitude
