    I throw my poppers on a spinny reel, 3in Storm Chug bug-baby bass, and does great ! Med action, keeps them pinned, high landing percentage? I fished cvo-angler in FLW and angler used bait caster and out fished me big time, I tried it but you know that’s a bad time to learn a new technique in a tournament, it felt really weird! My brother n law was a pro and he threw a Zarro Spook on a spinner reel and caught the haddis out of them! Old habits hard to correct! I’m 69 yrs old, my muscles are already trained! LOL I do throw a buzzbait on baitcaster tho’. Great teaching job Tyler as always! Would like you to come up for air once in a while tho, so I can catch up ! lMAO! Keep the faith brother! Jerk baits have always been just foreign language to me being on ponds with the HUGE exception being the rapala original floating minnow. But I'd love to learn more about a bunch that I've ended up collecting over the years. Slow sinking, sinking, suspending, floating, and then how does that affect the depth they say the bait reaches? Is a sinking jerkbait going to act almost similar to a lip less crankbait? It's confusing to me and just seems so much more intricate than, say, a crank bait labeled 3-5 feet.

  • @maxescamilla4597
    @maxescamilla4597 3 года назад +1

    Good tips. Only thing I'll add is that you can also change how hard you rip the bait to correspond to the fishes mood. Sometimes a hard rip with a longer pause is key. Or soft rips with a shorter pause. Vary it until you get a response from the fish.

    Final update: this little reel is the little engine that could ruclips.net/user/postUgkxSlytCJqozTF7EbdP4LWP-HUXf9WRDJ0e . It performed flawlessly and was easy to adjust drag in the moment while I was battling a 35lb bat ray behemoth. Mind you, this reel is spooled with only 25 lb braid and 25 mono topshot. It's paired with the kastking telescopic heavy power rod and the two work well together. This has now earned my respect and confidence when traveling and fishing. If you have ever hooked into large rays and sharks, you know they pull extremely hard and can run forever! This thing clamped down on the fish and was easy to adjust during the fight. It has a nice decently fast retrieve as well. Twice the fish went on mad runs and I was able to gain back line quickly to avoid spooling.

      Sometimes with those cheaper made ones, the weight distribution can be off. There is also though, some that are made to be like that. I prefer mine to suspend nose down in the water

    Tyler, Your last statement saying you don't need the electronics to catch fish on a jerk bait made me think... could you do a video of catching bass without using the live scope and side imaging? Some of us cant afford the high end electronics yet.
    thanks

      I make videos like that all the time, and did for years and years before I bought Livescope. Look around the channel. I’ve been doing it for years.
      Also, nothing I said in the instructional portion relied on you as if the viewer having Livescope

    14:08 shadow looks like your fishing with an alien. I know what it is, but it’s still pretty funny 😂 Thx for the info. I feel like my jerk bait goes a little to deep. Thinking I just need a new one 😅
