I’ve been throwing my jerk baits on a ultra light 5’6 rod and 8 pound test and I’ve been using rapala rip stop 09 and man does the bass load up on it and to me that feel amazing
Jerk baits have always been just foreign language to me being on ponds with the HUGE exception being the rapala original floating minnow. But I'd love to learn more about a bunch that I've ended up collecting over the years. Slow sinking, sinking, suspending, floating, and then how does that affect the depth they say the bait reaches? Is a sinking jerkbait going to act almost similar to a lip less crankbait? It's confusing to me and just seems so much more intricate than, say, a crank bait labeled 3-5 feet.
Good tips. Only thing I'll add is that you can also change how hard you rip the bait to correspond to the fishes mood. Sometimes a hard rip with a longer pause is key. Or soft rips with a shorter pause. Vary it until you get a response from the fish.
