You actually have the best fishing tutorials and informational videos out on youtube. I've watched so many videos all ready and now I'm excited to go out on the water. Thank you so much!
I’m glad you are enjoying them!!
Bro your editing is so good! You really deserve a lot more subs! I've been watching your vids for about a year now. Keep doing what you're doing! Can't wait to see you reach 1,000,000 subs! Like the Bible says..."You will reap a harvest if you do not give up."
Thanks Ben!!
I have been fishing for almost 50 years and since I have found this channel just in the last 2 weeks I have learned soo much
That’s what I like to hear!
Tyler you are without a doubt the best teacher for me. When i type in what I'm looking for specifically I hit on the first couple that pop up then I find myself going to your channel. No matter what i'm trying to perfect you have something on it. And your teaching style fits me perfect. You are wise beyond your years buddy and just want to thank you for all you do for us. God bless you and your family
So glad to hear that!!
Tylersreelfishing is the best keep up the great work man
Loved the video! The steps from bait, to rod, reel and how to cast and retrieve were awesome. Definitely a 'saved' video for me.
🙌🏼
Thank you for this vid, I've been wanting to get on a jerkbait bite and this fired me up. I've been loving your videos!!! Thank you tyler and keep up the great work
Loved the thorough break down of how to reel in the bait. Keep up the good work.
Always trying to get y’all the best info 👍🏼
love my 6'10 Shimano SLX Medium action rod with lews classic pro reel. That combo works perfectly for jerk bait fishing and spool it up with a 12 pound mono.
Imagine disliking this awesomeness
I know right
Your shows are very informative they are awesome
Love it!
2 years later and your videos still tell me i don't know enough about Bass fishing.
No use if having all the equipment but not enough knowledge. Thank you for your videos.
Very informative. You do a nice job with the details. Thanks!!
Thanks Gary!
Great content as always thanks TRF
Thanks for watching as always!
You are so much younger than me and yet you know more than I do about fishing. I love learning from your channel. You have great potential.
Thanks so much!
@@TylersReelFishing yw😊
Thanks Tyler. Great explanation, going to give it a go.
Heck yeah! Let me know how it goes!
Awesome video Tyler! Thanks for the tips, can’t wait to get out in the water and try it out
Heck yeah!!
@@TylersReelFishing I’ve searched for Tyler’s reelfishing Tokyo rig but couldn’t find you making any videos on it. Did you already made one and I just couldn’t find it or are you going to make one soon? Just wondering.
Very very good info, going to try out next time out
Well done, very informative video.
I’ve been throwing my jerk baits on a ultra light 5’6 rod and 8 pound test and I’ve been using rapala rip stop 09 and man does the bass load up on it and to me that feel amazing
Thanks for this! Something I am trying to get into!
It’s worth it for sure
I'd like to see you fish creeks for bass that would be great because when I started fishing more streams I've been doing better on river lakes
I have a Bass Pro, Pro Qualifier 2 for my light lures. Jerk baits and poppers. Throws light stuff great.
Great video thank you
Good info🎣
Me too , thanks for a good video. Mark
Great content ‼
I’ve started custom painting my own jerkbaits just so I can match the hatch locally. This video should be a must watch for all jerkbait guys and gals.
Thank you!
Great content. I fish jerkbaits but never had a clue what the proper technique was for doing it. Now at least I can present it the right way.
Glad I could help!
Great video
Nice video. Keep up the good work.
Heck yeah I will!
To eliminate backlashes , throw it on a spinning setup like they’re meant for. I mean ofc the heavier /deeper diving ones are are maybe more suitable for a light -medium baitcaster.. I found a 6’9-7’0( I like the 6’9 Medium Mach2 spinning combo…. Especially for the j100 or river anglers not throwing the 200-300 size… the 100 size has caught me 100s and 100s if 3-4, even a couple 5lb smallmouth in upstate NY. No not on the Great Lakes or st Lawrence or even finger lakes.. the best kept secret river in NY( Mohawk)
Man,i really admire your knowledge!
I am 65 and have recently started kayak fishing with my son.So keep doing what you are doing.
Thanks for the time you put into these videos.Only thing i could ask is could you slow down some.
I can try!
the megabass vision 110 in the french pearl is a bass buster. Its also 20.00 bucks though
Great video dude What gear ratio do u use for jerkbaits? Thanks and keep up the great work!!
Let’s go!!!
EVERYTIME I HAVE A QUESTION YOU HAVE A VIDEO ON IT 🔥🔥
Great tips thank you I wish I was able to get good gear so if you can show people like me that doesn't have the ability to bye the good or great gear the best low budget gear I really like lew's stuff
Great content
Tyler I REALLY enjoy watching you here. I have learned alot and have used your techniques, THANK YOU they work!
I wanted to ask you about the Grey Bibs you are wearing during this Jerkbait episode, who makes them? Thank you, Scott
Thank you for the positive words! Everything I wear is made by AFTCO! You can use code “TRF” to save 15% on your order! They make the best fishing clothes out there!
great turtorial man
I’m glad you liked it!
yo what's up Tyler I wish I could fish right now but I live in colorado so that sucks!
You got to do a video on all the different casting positions
Your the best bro G.O.A.T.
Just wondering what pattern exactly you where fishing I’m trying to learn a lot more about lake fishing. Keep it up !
It was edges and holes in grass! I’m glad my channel can help you learn! You’re gonna like it around here
Nice, I caught a couple yesterday on a straight retrieve surprisingly.
That’s wild. Like I said, it can work. But it’s not meant to be worked like that
@@TylersReelFishing now i know!
Jerk baits have always been just foreign language to me being on ponds with the HUGE exception being the rapala original floating minnow. But I'd love to learn more about a bunch that I've ended up collecting over the years. Slow sinking, sinking, suspending, floating, and then how does that affect the depth they say the bait reaches? Is a sinking jerkbait going to act almost similar to a lip less crankbait? It's confusing to me and just seems so much more intricate than, say, a crank bait labeled 3-5 feet.
Not sure how I’ve not seen your videos yet. This was the first. Pretty cool jerk bait school then catch some fish. New subscriber here.
Glad to have you on board! You’ve got quite a few videos to catch up on!
Any suggestion on how to work the rod sitting in a kayak to get that side to side action from a jerkbait? Thanks for the videos!
Same exact thing that I’m doing. Being in a kayak shouldn’t affect your retrieve
This young man is like a professor of fishing. His detail is what makes him so good.
Thank you so much!
@@TylersReelFishing your welcome. Thanks for all the help.
I love the videos man do you have any tips on picking colors for lures?
Dirty water: dark and bright lures
Clear water: more natural greens and whites
@@TylersReelFishing thank you
Who makes the box you are using? I'm looking for a jerkbait box that works well.
Working a jerkbait on a semi-slack line takes some practice but it’s a super fun way to catch fish! Just posted a jerkbait video on my channel as well actually
Tyler love the videos young man you have a new subscriber. One question for you bud. Are you throwing your jerk bait on a loop knot with the split ring on it or tying a cinch or palomar knot? I think this would be helpful for the action of the bait. Sorry if I missed that part
Absolutely not. I tie everything straight to the lure.
Good tips. Only thing I'll add is that you can also change how hard you rip the bait to correspond to the fishes mood. Sometimes a hard rip with a longer pause is key. Or soft rips with a shorter pause. Vary it until you get a response from the fish.
Definitely true!
True..generally depends on water temp and season..fall to winter, colder water, use softer rips, more of a bump and much much longer pauses
Thanks Tyler. I’ve used a ton of different jerbaits over the years, my dad swore by Rapala but I do think that by far my favorite is the Megabass Vision 110!! I just don’t know if anyone makes a better jerkbait anywhere. The colors like Northen Secret, Triple Illusion, and all their gill colors are insane!! I get you have to promote your sponsor so not saying the KVD/Strike King aren’t great. I just think it’d be remiss to talk jerbaits w out including them. They seem to make jerkbait art that bass just can’t resist! Love what you do bro jj
You should fish berkley stunnas I used to only use mega bass 110s but bought a stunna and caught more fish 🤷♂️
@@owengarbade5545 would this lure work year round?
@@johnnyp2155 depends on we’re you are in the country if post spawn absolutely spawn probbaly not as much you’ll still catch fish though
went out today with a jerkbait and from the bank caught 4 bass in 4 cast while no other bait would work. crazy
I just switched to Lew’s reels and picked up a tournament pro and 2 of the KVD reels and getting a Lfs at some point.
Awesome!
@@TylersReelFishing you and Alex Rudd helped me make the decision love everything about Lew’s and how they seem as a company to be with. I’m just a weekend angler but I like nice gear.
Growing up fishing local farm ponds my dad would slay! And always almost always outfish me with a Rapala f11 or f13 Original floater in the natural silver shad color. If I remember correctly I think he caught his personal best on a Rapala Original Silver. Goes to show you don't always need the fanciest of the fanciest jerkbait. Sometimes it better to just stick with a classic.
For sure! Some great old ones out there
Yeahh Buddy!! Here first!!!
Yuhhh
Man bro, just tell em the business. If you can't afford a nicer baitcaster for jerkbait, just save for a little longer and get a nice reel. It is very important to fishing effectively. Otherwise you'll end up frustrated with fishing jerkbaits cause they're so light. Just save a little longer and do it right from the beginning
A lot of top pros have been preaching going to a spinning reel for jerkbaiting..I only do it for super light trout jerkbaits but I watched a couple videos on it.. interesting techniques
Can you do a video on how to develop a pattern or find fish on a new body of water
I’ve made 3. Search on RUclips “TylersReelFishing new lake”
Up in the northeast I never go out without one on. Just change the pause and twitches. Thx Tyler, great video, I definitely tighten up my skills with a jerk bait. This is going to help .. do you have any video on how to walk top water lures? , I can walk a spook or a sexy dawg. But I have trouble with walking different frogs, maybe I'm not using a heavy enough rod. Using a mh. Low budget lol
It’s very similar to a jerkbait! A little less slack though
I love jerk jerkbaits the kvd jerkbait cought my second biggest fish
Hey I want to get a 2 piece rod and reel combo under 150$ what should I get or look for or make a vid luv u man
I was just looking at the KVD. Great tips. I'm ready for it be above freezing.
I’ll be posting more about the KVD stuff soon
Yo would a medium heavy baitcaster work for a jerkbait, or a medium action spinning rod
For sure, the medium action spinning rod, medium heavy bait caster might be a little too stiff
Will you fish a swim bate in one bay
Tyler. What make and model is your fish net?
bit.ly/3ADnu6b
Hey Tyler! Would size, length, and depth capability matter in majority of lakes?
Just depth. Unless you are fishing a very small body of water, they will all share similar characteristics and fish movements
You don't always have to jerk down as you show. You can jerk parallel, or even up in order to control what depth you want to hit. The important thing is the cadence and jerking it on slack line.
That’s true, and something I totally forgot to mention!
I liked this video a lot, very informative. A tip I’d like to add is a slow gear ratio, like a 6:1 or a 7:1 at the very highest. Slack line is so important when throwing a jerk bait and with those ultra high speed reels, it’s too easy to mess up the action.
That’s a good point there
If you’ve got any shimano with an MGL spool you don’t have to worry about lure weight that much, tbh.
Is straight braid or a braid to fluorocarbon leader ok to throw a jerkbait on
I would recommend straight fluoro
TEAM TRF!!!
YOU KNOW IT!
Hey buddy where did you get that badass net? I need one.. lol
Made by Yakima I believe
I don't use jerkbaits allot this is great!
Well you better start!
@@TylersReelFishing Will do!
Bud i just noticed your wader and just carefull if you go overboard that will sink you to the bottom like a stone. Just looking out for you bro. Good videos keep it up!
I’m not wearing a wader, it’s just a cold gear suit. No danger here
@@TylersReelFishing ah ok good to know in that case carry on good sir haha 👍
Finally caught my first jerkbait fish 🎉💪🏻
That is awesome!
Would a Medium mod fast be the same as a medium heavy fast?
No, the medium mod fast has more tip and less backbone but the MH fast has much less tip but more backbone. I would use the medium for moving baits and the MH for topwater and T-rigs and Jigs
Hey, man! Where can I get one of those fish counters you wear on your hat?
They aren’t made anymore
@@TylersReelFishing oh, that's sad!
Come with me to Lake El Salto in México this June 2024. We catch and release an average of 280 bass per day, per person, including 9lbers!
Can I attach weights to it so that it stays close to the bottom
No, it’s not designed for that
Is that the Lews KVD LFS casting reel?
Yep!
i got sick of buying 20$ jerkbaits so i started buying my own jerkbait blanks, lure wraps, spit rings and treble hooks. outrageous out much money i've saved and these blanks are amazing. Wlure blanks from amazon and lure wraps from crankwraps.com.
Who sells the net you are using? It has an offset handle with a forearm support.
Yakima I believe. Or maybe yak attack
Yak Attack sells it. $90. $80 at Amazon.
I’m confused. I always thought if the bait dives below the surface then it’s a crank bait. I always thought a jerk bait was a surface plug. Please help me out.Thanks.
Maybe that was originally the way the term was described, but not anymore. The words used in this video are exactly what the industry standard is
'Staccato'? Musician too, Tyler? :)
I am!
@@TylersReelFishing And maybe an aspring/future Theologian!
(i'm a musician, theologian...and now aspiring bass fisherman ;)
Tyler, Your last statement saying you don't need the electronics to catch fish on a jerk bait made me think... could you do a video of catching bass without using the live scope and side imaging? Some of us cant afford the high end electronics yet.
thanks
I make videos like that all the time, and did for years and years before I bought Livescope. Look around the channel. I’ve been doing it for years.
Also, nothing I said in the instructional portion relied on you as if the viewer having Livescope
What's the difference between a minnow lure and jerkbait?
To my knowledge, nothing. We just don’t use that first term in Freshwater
What is the brand of the bait? I can only find ones with 2 hooks
It is linked in the video description
I guess im lucky... first day ever with a jerk got a 2...throughout last year i got 2 2lbers a 3, a 3.2, and my pb a 5
Wow that’s great!
Which kvd pole for jerk, chatter, cranks thanks
KVD CC3
@@TylersReelFishing CHeers!
I just bought an H2O Xpress Jerkbait, and it floats tail down in the water. Is it supposed to do that?
Sometimes with those cheaper made ones, the weight distribution can be off. There is also though, some that are made to be like that. I prefer mine to suspend nose down in the water
