Stepping into the world of Mary Villiers for 'Mary and George' was a journey of discovery into the strength and influence of a woman at the heart of King James I's court. This role was both challenging and enlightening, allowing me to bring to light the legacy of a figure whose impact resonates through history. I look forward to sharing this story with you and hearing your insights on this significant piece of the past
Wonderful to see new interest in the Villiers as they had enormous influence during the reign of King James and both Mary and George are buried at Westminister Abby.
The Villiers family sure knew how to make a royal statement, even in their final resting place!
I’m a director descendant of the villas family mainly from George’s line meaning that he is my great grandfather several generations back one thing that the history books doesn’t tell you about George was that he secretly had two children with a lady called Anne before he met Catherine this more to the villages family then what the drama depict what the drama shows is just a tip of the iceberg of the family. It gets a lot more complicated and it’s only something that the family can understand
It's unbelievable that Mary lived well into the 1800s, according to your introduction to her. 😆
We do see that - at 00:47, The 8 replacing 6 which will make her more than 200 years old ---- sounds like Vampire Movie or Mary was probably sipping on some secret elixir of life to live that long! Thank you for watching and pointing out!
My biggest flex is that I am a descendent of George Villiers meaning I’m also a direct descendant of Mary
I spoke to a woman in the US who just discovered (through ancestry) she's also a descendant of the Villiers and is sad for her ancestors. How are you related?
@@rinalore9416 through my great grandmother who is maiden name is Sheila Villiers My Nan recently found out that we are direct descendants from George Villers not from his wife Catherine but from a woman he met during the hunting with King James as they were staying in the lodge for a few days

It is History!
History was never rainbows and sunshine. Scandal and ruthlessness is part of the English royal family history going back hundreds of year up to recent times. Yes gay royals existed and King James wasn't the only one.
