    It’s funny how this guy talks so much about “managing his time” when he was easily the worst at it. Guy was there for 45 days and never even got his shelter built, and didn’t get his Gill net in the water to start fishing. But was doing exercise routines and talking about installing flooring for his shelter.

      what other item should he remove to add that? Without a good answer to that, they idea is pointless. needs to be an experience hunter also, not just good with a bow. What was the maximum, 10 arrows? In time, the arrows may be lost and I doubt it will be enough to be a good hunter to be able to make really good arrows in the wild. You need craftmanship and materials also.

Imagine trying to hold the axe level.... the metal part will be so heavy you will need a lot of energy just to try to keep the tip of the drill in that hole. How are you going to balance that axe on the tip while drilling until you get enough amber? Lmao. How a person choose and set up his tools say alot about a person's wisdom, which is probably the one single most important tool to survive alone in the challenging environment.

      I watched it twice and will again. His knife has a black handle, I will check the handle on the tool he was using. I don’t know that you could pound down on the tip of a knife without breaking it or that it would do what this tool was doing to shape the wood.

    • @Charactermatters650
      @Charactermatters650 4 года назад +1

      It’s a small splitting axe, not a cutting axe - interesting choice as it is heavy - but if you have used one (and I have for many, many years now) it is one of the best tools you can use for making quick work of wood for fire - bucking, kindling, split logs etc. the weight/shape of the head makes the work easier - so time and effort are gained at the expense of weight. A saw has completely different purpose and use ( I would want both saw and axe as well). If there is ice, say more than 8 inches - maybe up to 2 feet (or more) - I sure would pick that splitting axe over just about anything else except maybe an ice axe (not so handy for splitting wood) or an auger ice drill.
      Having ice fished for years as well - chopping thru 2 or 3 plus feet of ice is just crazy without that axe. Common to have 3 feet of ice or more in the north in winter.

    really bad picks! how are you going to cut snare wire or fishing like without a multi tool?! you dont need a knife, when you have a multitool, it can have multiple blades. Water bottle is also useless. Noone else picked it. That only means nothing to you? You didnt see what people actually used in the previous seasons?! Its not rocket science you know. He wasnt ready and skilled enough for this show. Most players pick pretty much the same tool set up. Fishing like and hooks, bow and arrows. Hey, you cant do both at the same time you know...

  • @jerrybates9839
    @jerrybates9839 4 года назад

    not having a slingbow, with a few of the arrows being 2 piece takedown models, is a big error. taking paracord, gillnet, ferrorod, cookpot, belt knife, axe, saw, sleeping bags, all big mistakes. Take one of Cold steels' shovels, modified to have 8" of saw edge and to be taken apart without tools. Take a modified Crunch multitool, also set up to require no tools for take down. with a carbon steel regular blade, two REAL file blades, one of which is fitted to the saw teeth of the shovel, one is an awl, for drillng holes in the new, longer handles for the shovel, one is a hook/scoop knife with a gouge point, for making spoons and bowls. out of wood. Take the 12z12 tarp and the rope hammock. You'll make your 100 sq ft tarp shelter and your poncho, leggings and breechclout out of the 12x12. and 2500 sq ft of 3" mesh netting and 500 ft of cordage out of the hammock and the 2020 tarp. Convert as much of that netting as you want to 1.5' mesh by weaving in splits of local vegetation. Take the big roll of duct tape, the 2 lbs of gorp ration, the 3 lb bloc of sea-salt, Take the snarewire and the fishing kit using both to catch predators and waterfowl, until the nets are getting the fowl. Then all the hooks are to be set for predators. Jungle whips, vertical for predators, horizontal for big game, are a big part of your strategy, but the net weirs, for fish and fowl, have to provide you with 200,000 calories in 50 days. You can weave 200 sq ft of 3" mesh per day, by firelight, out of the tarp. 300 per day if you're unraveling the rope hammock.

    Food is the deficiency that everyone has Few will have a big critter on their lousy little 5 sq mile plots, much less get a shot at them with a mere bow. The springbow is handier to carry with you than a regular Bow. Callie already missed a moose cause she didn't carry her bow. That will be her un-doing. The slingbow can use baked clay ballls as ammo for the sliingbow, for shots not worthy of an arrow. The duct tape switly fletches field made arrow shafts, for 'hail mary" long shots into flocks of fowl, to make them leave a spot where you have no traps, and hopefully, they will then land in your baited, trapped area. 50 ducks and 50 seagulls totals 160,000 calorioes. Add in 6 geese or loons and you'll have 200k calories. Catch 300 lbs of fish in your 50 days before winter makes you hole up and youll have another 100,000 calories. Add 50k calories of small game, predators, small birds, and you can win, if you know to stay in your shelter except for a once a week exit, to stone boil more ice , filling up your rainsuit-container, having a hot meal, dispose of wastes. and crawl back into your debris stuffed shelter. for another week of lying there. eating cold, dried flesh food. This is not that hard to do, folks and if you get lucky with your whips and also score a wolf and a deer, or maybe a caribou, your win will be assured.
