    Thank you so much for this! There is zero information anywhere on the internet about setting up the Z axis properly, and I found the manual confusing. Thanks for helping us simpletons!

    Can you do a tutorial / overview with the LaserGRBL Software?
    I’m looking into getting their latest 70w Version and was wondering if all things went fine for someone using that software on the machine.
    Either way thanks for the video, and it does really seem like a well made machine; Precision Ground Rods and *Linear Rails*.

      I'll add the Laser GRBL video to the list! I've been very happy using Lightburn on the Ikier K1 series!
      Yes- the machine is solid and very well made. I've used the precision ground rods and bearings in my past career- very smooth and long lasting.
      Thanks for watching!

    • @thelaserchannel1
      @thelaserchannel1  3 месяца назад

      Thanks- from time to time I engrave photographs. Lasers in the ~20 to 24 watt range do very well. High wattage tends to over drive the engraving which is why Ikier laser machines are often selectable between 24 and 48 watts. The 24, 48, and 70 watt lasers are suitable for 3d engraving.

    Great easy to follow video....until mine doesn't do what yours does! The laser will not home when I hit the home button but it will move if by using the arrow keys in Lightburn. I kept following to the part of focusing but again the laser won't move up and down. In both cases it just stays put and hums. Any advice will be very much appreciated. My head is swimming from reading and watching so many things. I feel like I'm falling down a rabbit hole!

      Mine did the same thing - loosen the cap on the Z axis (the hex nut on the top), then run the autofocus - mine was causing too much friction. you can reattach it slightly off from the surface of the motor

    Just so you know, once you set it up, its a bit tricky and there are two ways to do it. 1: Set your coordinates to absolute, home your machine, hit the autofocus, make sure you have a small piece of whatever material your working with under it, then frame, then hit start. 2: Set your coordinates to absolute, hit frame, then hit autofocus twice if it doesn't focus on the first one, after it frames, reset your coordinate to current position (if you don't it will treat your current position as home and move accordingly), hit start.

    • @thelaserchannel1
      @thelaserchannel1  Год назад

      @@andrewearl9315 I'm using the features on the machine in Lightburn- for the Autofocus setup there are a couple of simple steps to get a button programmed in Lightburn.

    • @thelaserchannel1
      @thelaserchannel1  Год назад

      @@andrewearl9315 I don't recall using the restart option. I think I can still use the Autofocus button even in "current position". You are correct when not using "Absolute Position" the machine will not perform the autofocus when hitting the home button in Lightburn.

    I couldn’t comment on your video where you show the z sink but I copied your powers and speeds exactly. I used 1/4” plywood and the fire laser is at .25 percent. It’s doing two passes to cut out the piece and it’s burnt really bad. Lots of charring. Am I doing something wrong? Yours came out with clean cuts

    • @thelaserchannel1
      @thelaserchannel1  9 месяцев назад

      I would manually check the focus- there's a silver/grey measuring tool for setting the focus manually. Also not all plywood is the same- I've seen lots of variation even from the same big box store! Hope this helps!

    • @DistinctiveDesignTeamDDT
      @DistinctiveDesignTeamDDT 9 месяцев назад +1

      Auto focus set to 5mm. Does higher laser power affect it? I did 4 passes sinking at 2mm a pass and it looks better but still not cutting full through. What can I change to have it cut thru. It’s only 1/4”

    • @thelaserchannel1
      @thelaserchannel1  9 месяцев назад

      @@DistinctiveDesignTeamDDT I higher power level will help along with running the air assist at 100% or full on. Before trying the above inspect the leaser lens for any smoke residue or cracking/etching.

    My IKIER is 410mmx410mm but if I try and cut even 270x270mm it runs into the right side of my machine. I know there’s a setting I have messed up but I can’t figure it out!

    • @thelaserchannel1
      @thelaserchannel1  8 месяцев назад

      All depends on the start point of the project. If you're using Lightburn it sounds like you're using the "Start From- Current Position". There's a Job Origin just below with 9 dots- the selected dot will show up as a little green square on your project. I suggest the bottom left corner and just make sure your laser module is near the front left corner when you start. Hope this helps :)

    Hello sir. I love your videos but I am having a problem with setting up the auto focus. It keeps giving me an alarm 3 saying reset while in motion. What am I doing wrong?

    • @thelaserchannel1
      @thelaserchannel1  11 месяцев назад

      Thank you. I would check the connections are firmly seating on the laser module and that their are no bend pins in the connector. Next try setting the autofocus with just the sensor over the work material- sometimes uneven work materials can strike the laser viewing guard fist before the autofocus sensor is met. Best wishes.

    hi, many thanks for this, i have been using the K1 and been really struggling with framing my work with the laser line or firing the frame, one thing id like to know is if i decide not to use the laser off set how would i turn the red cross off?

    • @thelaserchannel1
      @thelaserchannel1  Год назад

      To turn off the offset go to Edit then Device Settings. There will be a spot to turn off the Laser Offset. I think the laser cross hairs remain On but the Lightburn software will now use the Laser itself as the position (no offset). Hope this helps!

    5:45 Confused about this part. My Ikier K1 Pro appears to be stuck at it's highest point as seen on this timeframe (even slightly higher). When I'm rotating the top screw counter clockwise as you do it just comes off. The other direction it's stuck instantly. I am unable to lower this sliding part. Any idea what could be wrong?

    • @thelaserchannel1
      @thelaserchannel1  11 месяцев назад

      There's two travel limit switches, one at the bottom (sets the focus) and one at the top- my first thought is the upper switch is somehow not being activated. Maybe check the wire connectors. After that I recommend contacting Ikier support. Best wishes.

      @@thelaserchannel1Thanks for the reply. Shortly after posting I figured out the issue and resolved it. I noticed this big top screw also has a hole on the side with a tiny black screw inside. That one apparently got loose which resulted in me being able to screw off this top screw completely rendering it useless. Tightening up the tiny black screw fixed everything and my laser can raise/lower again using this large top screw.
      Love the machine so far. Still figuring out things one by one but the results are showing and getting better slowly. :)

How do I enter size of part I want to engrave in light burn then set machine or part zero from center or from left front and select what to engrave I’ve got auto focus all done. I’m confused about that. How to set my work offset and cut lines or engraving lines. Please help.

    • @thelaserchannel1
      @thelaserchannel1  Год назад

      Hi- using Lightburn software; to resize navigate to the top left and you'll see a padlock- make sure it's locked and type the max width or height for your desired size. To perfectly center- home your machine while in "absoluter coordinates", then on the top of the screen on the right side of the icon tool bar there will be an icon that looks like a crosshair with no circle around it- this will move any highlighted object to the center of the work area or any number of positions- you can even move the laser to any number of locations too! Hope this helps- I'll have to make a video sometime showing these really cool features!

    Where can i find the test file to get best settings?

    • @thelaserchannel1

      Hi- I use the Material Test Generator found in Lightburn under Laser Tools>Material Test. This brings up the menu to create a test grid based on your input settings. I usually use Speed and Power as the two variables. Use the Edit Material Setting to select between engraving or cutting.
