    Join me in today's video as I push the limits of the world's most powerful desktop Diode laser. From solid Steel to Copper, I'll be testing its cutting capabilities on various metals. But why cut metals? Stay tuned as I demonstrate the practicality by crafting a durable metal product. And as promised, I'm giving away an Xtool multi-color Screen Printer kit to one lucky viewer!
    But first, let's address a common myth about diode lasers and metal cutting. Then, I'll delve into the differences between Plasma cutters and diode lasers. Spoiler alert: we might just witness this diode laser earn the title of Desktop Plasma cutter by the end!
    Unboxing and setup were a breeze, with a few challenges. But with everything in place, I dive into metal cutting, sharing my safety precautions along the way.
    The results? Let's just say, I'm impressed! But the real magic lies in my three secrets to successful metal cutting with a diode laser.
    Now armed with this knowledge, I tackle a practical project: a number address plate. Witness the process from design to installation as I showcase the versatility of this mini plasma cutter.
    And for those who've stuck around till the end, it's giveaway time! But before that, let's address the clock sale challenge. Did I succeed, or will I have to bid farewell to my beloved hairless cat Norman?
    Join me for this exciting journey as we explore the capabilities of the 70-watt Diode laser and give back to our incredible laser community on RUclips. Don't forget to set your focal point and turn it up to 11 as we embark on this metal-cutting adventure!"

      6:53 for „milled steel” you could use oxygen but valve and piping should be switched to o2 rated. For stainless and alu some neutral gas like argon or nitrogen should be used. Simple plasma cutter like Hypertherm Powermax use compressed air for all materials - this is sub-optimal (worse on stainless). Higher level plasma cutter use gas switching consoles with different gases. Oxygen in compresed air couse stainless „burning” on edges. CHEERS! :)

       @ChadsCustomCreations Thanks for the reply, its 0.5mm steel plate off a washing machine external body, I wanted to make a laser warning sign but even after 5 cuts it only etched into the steal also warped it a lot due to many passes very disappointed in the system. It has no air assist for the fiber laser as I seen you using air to archive a deeper cut in the steel. I want to cut is 0.35 to 0.5mm silicone steel plate, the mr20 it etches names into tools ok, but not much good at cutting. It took me 2 months to get it going as it come with a faulty control board and atomstack would not replace control board so after learning all there controllers the x20 control board and the e85 control boards work with the mr20 fiber laser . Now I find out that it will not cut steel plate, so bit of a waste of money on this product mr20 atomstack shame to say.

    Several years ago I owned a nice CNC wood router (abt. 2'x3'). It took me about three months to get comfortable with the software (even with my IT background), but when I did it was a great experience! I had several ideas - one of which was making cross-cut tree slab clocks similar to the ones (cypress) my grandfather made back in the 70's & 80's... red cedar, black walnut, birch, etc. I made quite a few clocks, business card holders, phone holders, etc. Sadly, I lost all my shop tools due to relationship ending and the need for money for new housing (I was actually homeless for awhile). I'm now in my 60's, retired, and plenty of time to fill... without much budget (lol). Watching all these videoes has me wishing I had that dream shop back again! Happy cutting!

    Coconut reminds me of the sweet smell of success in a major project, and also the feeling of a coconut falling on your head when a project fails.
    I liked the look of your street number signage. I’d like to see how it looks in acrylic, etched with the laser, and an arrayed of solar powered led lights to Illuminate the etching.
    Possibly put your nice brass signage over the top of the acrylic.
    I feel it could be very legible at night.

    Hi, I was curious if you noticed any degredation in power over time as you were testing? 450nm light is very reflective on aluminum, and can damage the higher powered lasers if it reflects back into the diodes. I was wondering if you had any problems with that, or IKier has some kind of antireflection solution in their lenses.
    Also, I can't find the spec on their website, do you know what the focal length of the lenses are?

    • @ChadsCustomCreations
      @ChadsCustomCreations  Месяц назад

      Oh that is definitely a concern, I’ve heard putting the material at a slight angle can keep this from happening, I didn’t notice any degradation in power during my test only the fogging of my lens when my compressor built up condensation and I was luck that this did not harm the glass.

    • @JNWoodworks
      @JNWoodworks Месяц назад

      @@ChadsCustomCreations Thanks. Ya, I've been angling mine when I use high power on aluminum, just was wondering if you had any issues over time. And you are right, you gotta have clean air because it doesn't take much dirt on the lenses to mess up their efficiency, and to start heating them up and damaging them.

    Coconut - Fantastic video. Thank you for such a thorough all metals review on the high powered diode laser ! You are the only person on the internet to provide this !! Ive looked hard !
    It would be really interesting to see what Ikiers 20W fiber laser could do from a metal standpoint as the wavelength penetrates most metals much deeper. I was on the fence about these two for a while and I couldnt get any clear answers from Ikier. I ended up going with a WeCreat Vision for now and am waiting for either a desktop fiber laser to come out that can cut 0.2mm nickel or a diode. My guess is theyre probably not quite there yet.
    If Ikier wants to send you their Fiber 20W laser Id happily send some materials your way for testing 😅

    • @ChadsCustomCreations
      @ChadsCustomCreations  Месяц назад

      Glad this was helpful for you! I didn’t even realize they had the 20w fiber until I was editing this one. I did talk with one person that got it and they said it does not have the air assist so actually they said my cuts were more impressive on metals. I would love to test it and maybe a 3D printed nozzle would help improve it.

    At this point in time do you think the 70w diode laser is a good replacement for a 60`80w co2 machine for cutting wood, leather, etc?

    • @ChadsCustomCreations
      @ChadsCustomCreations  17 дней назад +1

      There are so trade ups
      -Diodes actually more powerful in terms of wattage compared to Co2 IMO
      -less maintenance no mirrors to align
      -theoretically longer lifespan than Co2 glass tube
      -ability to cut and engrave metals on diode
      -not able to cut clear acrylics
      -not able to engrave as fast as a co2 head
      -darker engravings then Co2
      There are trade ups I know it’s a lot to consider but I am seeing Diodes as more versatile as they become more powerful. But they still cannot compete with the speeds some of these Co2 lasers can achieve.

      I am lucky you found me glad you are enjoying it I haven’t used the M1 it does have the benefit of also having a blade for vinyl cutting like the circut machine but if that doesn’t interest I think the 20w S1 is the best option for new laser users at the moment. Code Chad10 should give you a little discount also. I have a video on the S1 too if you want to take a closer look.

      @@ChadsCustomCreationsThanks a lot! I've been comparing M1 and S1 and the prize difference is too much! There is a good offer today and the M1 all in one kit is €1999. It includes the air purifier. Do you recomend it for security? Maybe I'd start with this kit and invest in the S1 in a while, if I see it could be a real business. If that happens, I will be able to use the air purifier for the new machine...
      Furthermore, I have seen that the xTool M1 and xTool F1 are incompatible with the Screen Printer Multi-color Kit, and I am interested on that. Why the Basic kit is compatible and the Muti-color one doesn't?
      I don't know what to do. It's too much information and I am overwhelming 🤯

    I learned a lot from this as my breadth of plasma cutting knowledge is very shallow; well, was shallow thanks to you. haha.
    I program sheet metal punches and press brakes at my day job. There was some discussion regarding a plasma or laser cutter, but we have a lot of holes which are generally best suited for a punch press when it comes to time. I know Trumpf makes a punch/laser combo where you can kinda exploit the best of both worlds. Not sure if they have a plasma combo.🤔 That all said, I am more interested in the home/small business implications you've presented here with this 70W laser!
