    Can I ask a favor 👉🏻👈🏻 can you plug the enclosure usb ports directly into a computer and see if windows recognizes it as a camera? I believe I have a defective safety enclosure and LP support is yanking me around blaming my LP5 saying it’s not compatible. When I plug the enclosure into my computer just for fun it says the device is malfunctioned, just curious what a known working one says. Merry Christmas!

      The camera must be setup through the mobile App first and then it can be used with the computer software- all using the Laserpecker software. The camera is all wifi only. Hope this helps!

      @chicoquadcore 2 дня назад

      @ yea fully aware of all that I was just curious what windows itself would see a working enclosure as, I’m assuming a webcam device, but in my case it says usb device defective. Mine is connected to wifi but the app and windows app both say camera not found. 99% sure it’s defective.

      @@chicoquadcore When I first tried to connect to the camera I had the some Camera not found message- once I updated the app software and mainly the firmware of the LP5 then the I was able to setup the camera. I'm assuming you have all the software/firmware updated.

    I do appreciate the time you spend on testing the various methods to laser engrave (etch) glass. My comments are a bit off topic, but, I do receive excellent results with the black Tempura paint that provides a nice, white etch, BUT, to achieve the best results, I have to use my airbrush to apply several, 3,4,7 coats to achieve a good thickness that works great. Now, I have just tried a single coat of the cold galvanized - Rust-oleum - and setting my 30 watt Longer B1 laser to 4000 mm/min, 80% power, with a .08 line interval, I do get a very nice black etching. As I was expecting a "white" etch, I'm liking the black finish that my test glass showed. I have also tried the TiS02 on glass and to receive the best results, a thicker coating works best for me. My white 4x4 ceramic tiles result with a great black finish and again, a thicker coating is the trick with a "too light" of a coat giving a splotchy uneven black result. The TiS02 that I tried on an old hot sauce bottle did result in a black etch, but, I could/should have used a thicker coat to have a "more dense" black burn. Whatever coating that you use, the hardest part is to apply your mask in an EVEN coat that is "thick enough" to achieve the best results. Thanks again..... Hank

  • @navydiving

    A point if note. I watched this with great interest since getting my K1 PRO 48/24. What you don't mention in this excellent video is that applying the x axis correction for the crosshair is that it eats up the available work space on the right side by that amount. My previous laser had a true 400mm X 400mm work space which I was fully able to use. When I apply my +53mm correction on the X-Axis on my new K1 it eats up the 410mm X 410mm to become 410mm X 360mm so now many of my saved projects that were made to maximize available space get out of limits errors when I use the cross hairs. That was one of the reasons I bought this machine was to use the cross hairs with a camera . Since losing this space I don't use the cross hairs for most jobs and just go with a 1% laser fire to position my work piece. I value a larger work area over everything else.🤔😪

  • @ainttakenanyshit
    @ainttakenanyshit 10 дней назад

    I have obtained great results with the black Tempera paint when applied in somewhat thicker coats. To that end, I did use my airbrush to apply several coats and this method did provide a smooth, even coat. I tried to use a foam brush and the subsequent coats had to be applied quickly as they wanted to dissolve the previous coat,(s), and it was difficult to obtain a good, even coverage. Looks like you used the "blue" spray chalk and am thinking that a black colored chalk spray would give better results? Thank you for performing most all the different tests that I would have had to perform myself, and, for the simplicity of application and cleanup, (the airbrush is a PIA to clean), the spray chalk - BLACK - will be my next test masking. Most importantly, for any masking agent you may want to use, performing a "material test" is really mandatory to discover the burn settings you laser will perform best at. Thanks again....

    Hi Greg, sorry to bother you again, but I need some advise regarding my choice of which laser would be best for me. I will be cutting and engraving mostly small stuf in wood, the wife is into 1:12 miniaturen. Been looking at several lasers like the Roly lasermatic MK2, the Acmer P3 and several more like these. Would a Longer Nano Pro meet up with my needs? Don’t really need the big 400 x 400 space, and another big advantage in my opinion is the lack of moving parts in for example the Longer. If you find the time, please share your wishdom with me! Thanks in advance!

    • @thelaserchannel1

      The Nano/ Nano Pro has a small footprint and can be much faster- I recommend the more powerful 12 watt Pro version. Other then making sure the field lens is clean- there's no other maintenance unlike the large larger machines that have rails to clean and lubricate and belts to check and tighten. Best wishes

    Another way of doing it. Apply some adhesive film to cover the glass completely. Use the laser to cut the film as per design peeling larger sections where necessary. Using a small sandblaster attachment for your compressor sand blast the glass to produce a frosted appearance whereby the remaining film performs the function of a mask. Finally remove the remaining adhesive film.

    had to stop and think of why they'd use such and old style usb to computer connection, then remembered that the machine is most likely going to be in an industrial setting and usbc just isn't robust enough to withstand much dust/debris. or at least that was the conclusion I came up with in my head for it. thanks for attention to this machine, it kinda scratches that perfect itch.

      Yes- the connection is more robust and it's also the connector on the main controller board! I can't wait to show making projects with the P3 :)

      Yes- as long as you have the rotary port on your machine you can add the Wecreat rotary. Here's a direct link: shrsl.com/4rtpo

    • @thelaserchannel1

      I have not- but I center up the material so the drive wheels have equal force to not steer the material. The cutout in the video- I did not see the material skew. I also try to do everything in 1 pass.

    Couple of questions: 1. Does the software (lightburn i think you called it) for setting up the cut files come with the USB that is provided? If not, can I just use any software compatible with laser cutters like AutoCAD? 2. What is exactly everything that I need in order for it to run and what else is optional?

    • @thelaserchannel1
      @thelaserchannel1 Месяц назад

      Great questions! 1. Lightburn Pro is the software I used. There's a free 30 demo of the software and then it's $200. the Pro version of Lightburn runs every type of laser compatible with Lightburn. Lightburn Core is not the correct version to run the Reno. The USB drive also comes with free software to run the machine. Most prefer Lightburn because they run it on other machines. 2. You'll need a bucket for the water pump and distilled water (NOT tap water or purified or filtered water). I recommend the Monport CW-3000 water pump- it uses a fan to cool the water to ambient temps and holds nearly 4 gallons. Better yet is the CW-5200 active water chiller- this unit has refrigerator cooler in it. The CW-5200 is better for longer work sessions with the laser machine and also warmer climates where ambient temps are still too warm. The laser tube is happiest from around 68-72 degrees F. The water pump is really the only thing I recommend upgrading right away. The machine comes with air assist, air pump, and software.

      Thanks- It comes with a water pump with the intent that you use a bucket of water. I recommend the CW-3000 for lighter use (it holds nearly 4 gallons of water) or choose the CW-5200 active chiller for running continuously.

    Most interesting is that the cold galvanizing appears to have darkened the engraved glass. I'm guessing that's because some of the zinc from the paint is melted into the glass, and zinc tends to darken as it oxidizes, acetone quickens that oxidation. Speaking of.... harsh chemicals are not needed for cleanup. You can use a razor blade scraper on areas that haven't been engraved to scrape away the paint. Then, I just use soap & hot water for all my paint cleanups on the engraved glass.... the trick is, I use stainless steel wool to scrub it down. Stainless Steel is softer than glass so it won't scratch the glass, but it easily removes the paint. It's expensive, but a single ball of stainless steel wool has lasted me 3x longer than a whole package of regular steel wool.
