Fun fact: This is the only battle with a canon winner, because the real Stephen King conceded defeat. He also tried to later write some bars of his own, but wasn't confident in his results.
I still like Poe's insults better - Stephen was doing way more book title dropping. His biggest hit was the "perving on your 13 year old cousin". But yeah, the real Stephen was like "Poe won." 😅
Easily one of their best, and yeah I think its overlookee because literature isnt popular amongst the general population .... unless it gets put on screen with dragons --.--
I love this one, one of my all time favs! Especially the way that Poe is portrayed, so realistic. As amazing as Poe's flow is, King came in with the heavy uppercuts to win the battle. When talking authors, it's hard to beat a man as successful as Stephan King.
Edgar Allan Poe has been dead for nearly 200 years and we still read his books. He even has a football team named after one of his poems. I’d say that is pretty successful.
And then you have both facing off in a full length battle as opposed to half of one like earlier( I'll let Jamel_AKA_Jamal discover which one that was).
Thanks to scru and one or two others I - a metal-head - finally got to understanding the hip-hop/rap enough to properly appreciate these battles, not just the "cypher" wordplay aspect but the actual battle mechanics itself, and I got to see that ultimate stephen king is sayting he's on another level to poe by the end.
Man, thank you for these. I've seen them all but watching your enjoyment makes them even better. I subscribed several erb videos ago but I'm here to stay. You're a cool dude
I love both Poe & King so I just take pleasure in how many references to their work, as well as their lives, are packed into every line. Terrific! 💙📚💙📚💙
One of my favorites. But I hate how short Watsky/Poe's verses were. But I think that was probably due to how much is actually jammed into those verses due to how fast Watski can flow. I think that "shortness" is what put King over the edge for me despite how hard Poe's bars hit. King gets the win just because he had more time than Poe. And nothing more.
Yay, you finally did this one! It's so good! I just think Stephen King, for the most part, failed to make the most of his time. His lines were good, but because he went with a slower speed he couldn't get as much in. Like, his mentioning of Poe's works like The Pit and the Pendulum where he holds up hardcover books, it just feels like wasted time when he then follows it up with the 13 y/o cousin bit. Maybe that was the point, though, to make the punchlines feel punchier. I just love the, "You'll always have less/Nevermore" bit with the Raven, too.
The only thing that disappointed me about this battle was that they didn't mention that King wrote even more books under a fake name just because he wanted to see if he could make it as a writer again without his name. Dude's such a good writer he did it twice.
Steven Kings Rhymes make you get that "Stanky" face! Did the same thing to me the first time I heard it!! lol "Im the Au-THOR , with the Blood and Gore Lore Galore, that will horrify a reader to the CORE" - That was Fire!
This reminds me- for October, you should check out some of the music vids from The Merkins. They recreate different pop songs, but dressed as different horror movie characters. They're actually pretty good.
Flow to flow category, Poe. Dis to dis, King. ERB has the legitness locked down. They knew what were doin every battle. There is no Edge to go over. It's fantasy art at its finest. What else are you gonna do? Have history icons fight physically, talk about each other's momma, breakdance, or see who can hold their breath the longest? Hands down, Rap Battles of History is the best way to do it. You only need to see one and you're hooked.
A couple of things that make this one stand out from the rest. Both of them are rappers outside of ERB. I don't know much about Zach except that he is a rapper and writer but Watsky has been a personal favorite for years. Also Watksy wrote his first verse in the same writing style as Poe (trochee). He did they same thing when he was William Shakespeare for a different ERB
Glad to see that scheme from Sherwin getting appreciated. Dude can deliver an internal scheme like almost nobody else. For example, same guy played Voltaire and gave us the B Franks scheme from the philosophers battle. Of the regulars, my money's on him as the best rapper of the group, hands down.
Watsky (Poe) and Zack Sherwin (King) have insaaaaaane flows, lyricism and videos. You need to check out their stuff and react. Definitely will have you putting fire emojis all over your thumbnail.
Poe was SO freaking epic, but they put up a worthy competitor. I liked Poe better, but holy freaking heck, they made SK epic here. It is just well done in all aspects.
I will subscribe right now if you start reacting to Dan Bull game raps. Start with Civilization, maybe try The Crew (1 & 2), then hit up Fallout 4? Edit: Aight looks like I’m already subscribed. I got nothing.
One of the bars I always find overrated is the "perving on your first cousin when she's 13 years old." It's a swing that only lands if you judge by modern standards. When Poe was alive it would have meant a lot of nothing.
This is one of my fave erbs. King won this one for sure. His lines hit way harder for me. I especially love his many of his own book references. No offense to Edgar Allan Poe who is the true horror lord but I prefer King's works
If you like the burns you probably go Stephen king, if you focus more on flow you probably chose Poe. One of the most balanced and entertaining battles they've had.

Brother! Your merch is so dang cool! I love the throwback cassette design!
Poe is portrayed by Watsky, the same rapper that played Shakespeare. You need to check him out.
Please! He doesn't get enough reactions (Watsky) and the ones that are out there are the same couple tracks
Agreed! Watsky is a hell of a rapper and lyricist. Definitely worth every listen/view.
everyone who knows Australian hip hop knows Watsky
Totally. A react video to bliss and eso's Tear the Roof Off would be baller.
@@lamarbone1265 that's a great idea!

Didn't Gordon Ramsay also admit that Julia Child took the W?
Ivan the Terrible conceded defeat...twice...and then killed his opponent.
@@xaderalert he did in a tweet
Gotta disagree. Most of Poe's insults supported King's success bars.
This battle isn’t underrated, it’s properly rated! Stephen King himself said he liked it (and that Poe kicked his ass).
That’s awesome
That's because Watsky can out rap anyone.
Stephen king won that one tho
Easily one of their best, and yeah I think its overlookee because literature isnt popular amongst the general population .... unless it gets put on screen with dragons --.--
to be fair, the general population include non native speakers that are much less likely to get into american poetry.

Stephen King actually tweeted that he thinks Poe won this battle. :D
@@JessRansdellSmith That is awesome!

@@JessRansdellSmith Poe was a huge influence on him. He better give it to Poe lol
King sells books to a vastly less literate public.
"Why do I get the feeling that this battle is underrated?"
Dude, it's underrated as hell
Every battle that Watsky and Zack Sherwin are in is 🔥🔥🔥🔥
And then you have both facing off in a full length battle as opposed to half of one like earlier( I'll let Jamel_AKA_Jamal discover which one that was).

Poe won on talent
King won on the hits
Poe won with speed and flow King won with the hits and self hype
Definitely underrated, this is one of the best. Well written & has their fastest rappers on this. Watsky & Zack are just insanely talented.
Yeah, this one is underrated, agreed.
This is one of their top five battles.
Man, thank you for these. I've seen them all but watching your enjoyment makes them even better. I subscribed several erb videos ago but I'm here to stay. You're a cool dude
"Poe's Poems PWN posers" OHHHH the alliteration bars are killing King.
fanning the air like "DAMN! Someone clear the smoke something burning on fire!" xD
I love both Poe & King so I just take pleasure in how many references to their work, as well as their lives, are packed into every line. Terrific!
💙📚💙📚💙
Absolutely underrated! Also, dang, Poe, choking someone out with a trochar? Icy and painful!
East vs West philosophers please! You’ll learn a lot, as I did 😁

They should do a part 2 because it’s sick as hell.
I forgot Stephen King wrote The Running Man, which is a great Arnie film.
Yeah I forgot that once too since it is written under a pseudonym.
THIS is the one I've been waiting for. It's just so good, especially if you know some about them and their work.
Poe had faster cleaner bars but King won with his insults.
Hard to pick a winner. IMHO, they were both so good and their bars were so tight, the beat kinda disappeared into the background.
The real Stephen King tweeted that he lost a rap battle after watching this ERB.
Did he really?! I gotta find it. Haha
Yay, you finally did this one! It's so good! I just think Stephen King, for the most part, failed to make the most of his time. I SAW FALL OF THE HOUSE OF USHER WHEN I WAS 8 YO AND THAT WAS IT I WAS HOOKED ON MR. POE! MY KITTY IS NAMED RAVEN,
Two of my favorite horror authors that inspired me to write head to head this is my favorite one
I want to pick Poe, because... Poe, but I also really liked how King used all his book titles in his piece. That was clever, to me.
Zach Sherwin and George Watsky are so insanely talented and underrated...
The only thing that disappointed me about this battle was that they didn't mention that King wrote even more books under a fake name just because he wanted to see if he could make it as a writer again without his name. Dude's such a good writer he did it twice.
That "blood and gore lore galore" line I did the same thing J
The fellow playing Poe is a rapper named Watsky who has been in a few other ERBs and has a bunch of great tunes on his own. :)
I was waiting for this one, its one of my favorites
My favorite ERB!! Bout time you did it buddy:-)
Steven Kings Rhymes make you get that "Stanky" face!
Did the same thing to me the first time I heard it!! lol
"Im the Au-THOR , with the Blood and Gore Lore Galore, that will horrify a reader to the CORE" - That was Fire!
Poe and King for real when it comes to the stuff they wrote that's tough. Both - great writers.
In the spirit (heh) of "spooky rhymes" I feel the need to suggest 'Vlad the Impaler vs Dracula.'
I can’t wait for Steven Spielberg Vs Alfred Hitchcock
Poe actually wrote his raps in the style that the real poe wrote in. At least the first few lines.
This is the one I’ve waited for lol
Watsky vs Zach is always gonna be a fantastic battle
Watsky is playing Poe, check him out
Yusss, I was waiting for this one.

OUCH! King went there!! He called out Virginia Clemm! ... I liked Poe's flow, but King went for the throat like cujo.
Yes!! My absolute favorite, tied with lance vs babe ruth. King slays this!

Watsky and Zack, just casually killing it xD

King talking about other people's addictions...

I love Mc McNapkins and Watsky. These boys are amazing

Everyone jumps on Watsky's second verse, but Zack's second verse is just as fast if you actually try to rap it. King for the win.
