Hey knox I know I'm a bit early but for Friday you could choose either of these.... 1. Steve Jobs vs Bill Gates 2. Gandhi vs Martin Luther King jr. 3. Albert Einstein vs Stephen Hawking 4. Frank Sinatra vs Freddie Mercury 5. Nikola Tesla vs Thomas Edison Just my opinion
It’s even more amazing when you look at the timeline. He had NADA at this point: - This song: November 13, 2013 - His Kickstarter: November 20, 2013 (one week later) - Save Dat Money video: June 10 2015 (1.5 years later) - Professional Rapper album debut: July 31 2015, one moth later Talking straight dates it’s amazing how early this track was from LD. He literally predicted his success. This wasn’t him talking about how he blew and isn’t sure if he can keep it. This is him PREDICTING he was about to blow, feeling it coming, and wondering if he was ready. A week later he’d raise $100k from his fans when he was out of cash. A year and a half later he’d blow up, and then one-two punch that with his first album. Amazing.
This is my favorite Lil Dicky song. No one paints a better picture through words. Please let this be the beginning of many more reactions to his songs.
I think the “who’s taking care of my farm, I really loved that farm” is really pivotal because it is saying he misses his old life and loved his old life but he just isn’t there anymore.
I just love how his life had led him through rap to having his very own sitcom show "Dave". In that show, he is not only hilarious, but he also raps in most of the episodes. He is living the best of both worlds fer sure 🔥
I love the show, but unfortunately no, he does not rap in most of the episodes. Does it in one or two of the first few episodes and then towards the end which is disappointing. The milking table was funny shit. My only complaint on the show was the lack of rapping.
@@Mason-kd2zr he rapped to get himself into the spotlight so that he could start his acting career...he loves rap but his heart is in acting and has been open about that. Apparently hes been in the studio making a new album but well shall see
Super hype that you reacted to this. This is my favorite Dicky track ever. The word play is just...insane. People severely underestimate this man. Oh also, his real name is Dave Burd
Best reaction and breakdown ever man. After watching these viral and amazing videos it’s so cool to understand bar for bar and you breaking it down made the song even better man. Respect
I’ve watched a lot of reactions to this song and this is absolutely the best one. You add a lot of insight that makes your reactions worth watching. You have a great talent of connecting the emotions of a song to its musicality. Most people can focus on either emotion or musicality but not many can connect the two
Your reaction vids are so much more of a breakdown than anyone else’s. It may take a little longer but it’s so great seeing someone actually catch and show every detail. Keep it up man
Honestly lets just appreciate the way he rhymed -gy/ity 13 times in a row, i think he did that in such a nice way! ---- below the lyrics i'm referring to: Feelin' weird, lemme think of an analogy Just imagine for a second what if Russell Westbrook never knew his own mentality Grew up on a farm where the biggest commonality Was people that conform to the ruralest localities To Russell though it was nuffin' but normality And he really nice up on the plow in actuality Everybody liked the kid and dug his personality And so da mutuality was somewhat rationality So then ya man made a plan of practicality Not even a plan, it was more of a formality Get a little land and attend to its vitality Then raise a little fam 'til it all became finality
I love this song, and remember when it came out. I listen to this song a lot because I see this dude's drive, what he accomplished coming from a cpa, and making it to where he's at. In 4 mins, you've captured more than almost ANY other reaction video out there on this song. This dude is talented, take my sub, take my like...
I’ve watched this like 10 times and I can’t believe how quickly you understood the analogy and broke it down so perfectly. This is one of the greatest songs ever made and I am one of if not thee biggest LD fan there is and it took me a few listens and a rapgenius page visit to figure out the meaning of it. Knox you’re a lyrical chemist like Walter white shouts to Harry Mack.
Ur breakdowns are too notch. I like how u break down the rhyming schemes as well. I've been a fan of yours since the 1st video I saw u breakdown. Keep up the good work
best reaction to that song i've seen so far. keep it up :) also you should listen to the song "molly" from lil dicky. explains more from his past and also what his "farm" was in that sense, that he left behind because of the rapgame. it ties in insanely well with that ending.
I've watched reactors as a music head and lyric lover for a long time and I dont know how I've missed out on you man. One watch and you got a subscriber. The only one that nailed this the whole way through
I’ve been waiting SO LONG for this. I only didn’t recommend because I wasn’t sure if it were something you’d posted on your Patreon. That being said, I’d also recommend The Antagonist as a reaction.
This is one of my favorite songs, I’ve been listening to it since he dropped it. I’ve watched every reaction video and this song always goes over the RUclipsrs head. You were by far the most accurate with your reaction. You have a good ear for music and I respect this reaction video a lot. I wish you nothing but success
This was a good break down. I've seen others and some kinda didn't get it. But much appreciated how you got exactly what dicky was saying in this song.
I found your channel four hours ago. Concindentally you released a reaction to one of my favorite songs four hours ago. If that isnt a coincidence I dont know what is. Watched hopsin picasso, and alone with me reactions earlier at work
I swear I’ve watched every reaction to this video possible. Mainly the big time reactors but I came across your’s and decided to see your opinion. At first, I didn’t think I’d like how much you stopped and broke down each bar but it grew on me fast. I genuinely appreciate you breaking everything down, it’s refreshing and not normal. Some people try but I don’t think they fully grasp what some of Dicky’s bars mean. You do. At least you do the same way I do 😂 not sure how many Dicky reactions you’ve done but I’ll be checking those out now. I’m not huge on the rap game but I enjoy listening to LD because he has meanings behind everything he says, even if some of them are just completely off the wall 😂 thanks man, liked & subscribed.
There is one artist I would love to see Knox Hill certified and that is none other then Knox Hill himself...i would love to see a super in-depth break down of his own bars and a peak into the mentality of him in the moment
I love that you focus on the stakes 3 ways its imo the hardest part of the song. He said burning out from upping the stakes which I believe is a play on burned at the stake, then upping the stakes, then up for the steaks. It's crazy how intricate LD gets with his bars and how carefully he chooses every word.
Almost forgot the third meaning of 'burning up in the stakes', like being burned at the stake, then hes upping the stakes, and he always up for the steaks
He didn't want to burn out by upping the stakes like burning up on the stakes. Salem witch trials. One could take that to mean that since most of his contemporaries go over his past and his contributions to the culture being under scrutiny all the time that he's up on the stakes tied up and ready to be lit on fire in case he commits a cultural sin.
So, thing is, Knox breaks these down so good BUT, then uses this knowledge to make himself better. You can see it in the latest Int. Cypher flow, his was the most technical. Very few analysts (of anything) can break things down well AND do the things they are analyzing in the real world. KH is high level.
I’m happy you have started to dive in to LD. He’s in my top 5 for favorite rappers. If you want tracks to showcase his rap ability How can u sleep Professional rapper Make Belief The Antagonist Too high (hella funny too 😂) And Truman, No one has reacted to Truman, but it’s one of his best songs IMO! The professional rapper album was fire. Hopefully you like him! Great reaction!
By the way, Knox, Lil Dicky's name is David Burd, which is why the use of "burd" at 15:13 is referential to him. It still could be a double about larry burd too, but idk
hahaha LD: "Im concerned about the burnin' out from uppin' the steaks/stakes" Knox: "I was gonna pause it because I already thought that that double hit, but then he just... let it MARINATE a little bit further" Me: lmfao knox hit the double with the commentary while commenting on how dicky hit the double in his lyrics edit: just watched the rest of the video, great reaction I loved it. LIon King, Pillow Talking, Antagonist, all the freestyles, do the whole effing catalogue
i also thought the steak lines referenced being burned at the stake like witches, who historically were just women who did not conform just how LD does not conform to traditional rap styles/upbringing and people wanted to burn him down as a result of that difference
@@KnoxHill as always you came through with an amazing bar breakdown!!!!! You catch 10x more bars than any other reactor out there!! Btw got to jump on that lil Dicky-EARTH 🌎 next !!!!!!!!

I think the “who’s taking care of my farm, I really loved that farm” is really pivotal because it is saying he misses his old life and loved his old life but he just isn’t there anymore.
The beat is from "Pound Cake" by Drake feat. Jay-Z. If you haven't heard/reacted to that, you definitely should
TBH, I said to myself, "Wait a minute, you don't know this beat?????". Knox knew the sample which is fair, but sheesh.
Bar centered rappers focus on other bar heavy rappers...not drake
if you watched the whole thing, he knows the track
I really don’t know how a rapper could never hear this beat. I mean drake tried to rap on it but dicky RAPPED on it
@@nicholasdaley2121 lol that's a pretty ignorant thing to say. Jay who's on the original is a "bar centered" rapper.

Honestly lets just appreciate the way he rhymed -gy/ity 13 times in a row, i think he did that in such a nice way!
---- below the lyrics i'm referring to:
Feelin' weird, lemme think of an analogy
Just imagine for a second what if Russell Westbrook never knew his own mentality
Grew up on a farm where the biggest commonality
Was people that conform to the ruralest localities
To Russell though it was nuffin' but normality
And he really nice up on the plow in actuality
Everybody liked the kid and dug his personality
And so da mutuality was somewhat rationality
So then ya man made a plan of practicality
Not even a plan, it was more of a formality
Get a little land and attend to its vitality
Then raise a little fam 'til it all became finality
You absolutely need to react to the Antagonist.
Make Belief has to be your next Lil Dicky reaction. From the same time when he put out this song. It's a masterpiece in it's own right
