Love Em and always will but this guy seemed to have reacted in a much better way than the others Em has ended. Instead of dying he grew from it / changed genres. He's now attempting to bring back punk rock and it isn't bad if you're into that. He's experimenting with his versatility which is nice to see. It's refreshing to see artists attempt to grow and create in other areas they have interests in, instead of just recycling the same things... not a huge mgk fan but much respect.
"your reply got the crowd yelling WOO! So before you die let's see who can out 'petty' who." Tom Petty used to yell woo during his concerts and the crowd yelled woo back, Petty died shortly before this track. "who can out petty who " Em is on a level few will ever truly understand.
so either em is out Pettying MGK for being petty (adjective) OR MGK out Petty Em by dying (career wise) like Tom Petty? Did you hear about the explanation behind the title kill shot? that will also blow your mind! hint: Movie
I don't know somebody grab him some clippers was a good opening fire shot, I think MGK held his own , Em didn't address any of the accusations thrown at him coz they true
MGK thank you for waking EM up, but You are nowhere near his level. I mean ant vs elephant level. Beards weird. Tells the whole diss.. Diddy did have Pac killed. Em not joking there.
@@vagous69 people can't fanboy over people who couldn't even stand true to their original career lol, MGK legit left rap which tells the whole story... And people who fanboy him after his change of profession, you need a better idol. Again, his diss was good, Em came harder (expected), he should have atleast got back once, instead his whole career evaporated... That cowardice and loser mentality is exactly what will never give you true fans
@@kmc19xx59 One of few, but art is rather subjective. I liked his approach. He felt the kid was a joke and treated him as one - all while addressing almost every single bar of Kelly's verse. He had fun with it.
WHAT EVERYONE MISSED: Look carefully at the video screen. Every time KH pushes play and pause on Killshot, he's hitting the target. Right between the eyes... fuck, we're the ones pulling the trigger on MGK... Em petty AF, genius little gem making it align with the play button. + 24hr YT record and not even a video.
dude, you're right. even killshot has meaning. It's from a movie where the main character named Colson (MGK's real name) dies from a bullet from a police marshal.
@@chriskey6249 Exactly. Just because *now* he has a lot of money and is rich, doesn't change the fact that he started from nothing, worked his way up and worked his ass off for all of it.
“It’s your moment, this is it. As big as you’re gonna get so enjoy it. Had to give you a career to destroy it.” That’s the hardest line in the entire track. Em paved the way for white “rappers” that came after him. Without Em, white rappers wouldn’t be nearly what they are today and they owe him a debt of gratitude.
I dont think thats what he meant. He was saying hes giving him a career just by acknowledging him at all. But i suppose it could be looked at a couple different ways
@Apostle everything involving Em word play always has more than one meaning. In my personal opinion anyways. I think that the part where Em goes " he'll have to fuck Kim in my flannel ill give him my sandals cause he knows as long as I'm shady he's gonna have to live in my shadow" there's alot of parts that are astronomically amazing
My favorite thing about Em, something that inspires me to this day he said when he was coming up working a dead end job he would read the dictionary on the bus to and from work, because words were his weapon
Wow, you triggered a very far gone memory for me, now I’m sure I saw an interview with him years ago where he talked about that too. Explains a lot tho.

Idk who said this but I heard some rapper say 'I dont have massive bodyguards cause I dont care, if a nigga wanna shoot me, then shoot me, god finna do what he want to do and i wont stop him'
In my opinion Rap Devil is the song you'd bump in your car because the beat is cool but Killshot is the song that would be studied for generations because it's a masterpiece
Ems the only one who ever wrote sny of his music. Mgk tried to make it like he was on some em shlt, and wrote the song in just a few mins. He definately spent days writing it
MGK went on a RUclips show called Thirst Trap from ELLE. He was asked if he could have a battle with his favorite rapper who it would be. He answered "Well, we all saw how that went." That gave me the perspective that he does still respect and look up to him. Call me old school, but legitimate rappers handle their issues with diss tracks not violence. This was done perfectly.
No one really addresses the "billy goat" line when Em says "I'm the billy goat". That was really clever. Billy goats are satanic representations that Satanists worship. So Em is basically saying MGK is worshipping him. Plus he connected it again in the next lines by calling MGK a Satanist. Also goat as in G.O.A.T. damn Killshot is an onion. So many layers. Edit: That line alone basically addresses Rap Devil as an entire worship song by MGK for Em.
@@bantzbanta5631 Eminem can turn everything into anything with two lines. The man is a lyrical genius. Also, I undoubtedly think MGK is mad or anything. He lists him as an influence in his rap career. You don't just move on from that because you lost a rap battle. The art of the craft is to take the L and move on.
The Swayze line was deep. Em released Killshot on the 14th September 2018 - Patrick Swayze died on the 14th September 2009. As was the Carlson/Killshot movie reference. Lyrical Genius.
quin haden Well, considering Eminem’s net worth is 230 mil and MGK’s net worth is 10 mil- considering Eminem’s most recent album sold 275,000 in the first week while MGK’s most recent album sold less than half that- Did you seriously think MGK was even close to comparing here? Nobody out here calling MGK the greatest rapper alive like they do Em on the daily.

Fun fact: wrote this song in 13 minutes but took quite a while to release it, that’s because he made the “you’re swayze” line. Patrick Swayze died in September 14 2009. Eminem released the song in September 14 2018. Man is a genius.
MGK refers to himself as the Ghost of the future. Patrick Swayze was in a movie called Ghost but also died on September 14th (release date of Killshot). And there was also a rapper called Shwayze who was essentially a one-hit-wonder (if even that).
Yes... Why is this so fucking true lol. English Class(es) will fucking enjoy this just due to the amount of word play and subliminal meanings under all of that. The amount of research and digging the kids would need to do in order to locate these "old school" references when for us.... "Just par for the course, another day seeing another potential great career self-destructing"
I feel all the brother love line (didy) was em warning them that he wouldn't stop with mgk but he'll go at interscope as a label. This was em firing warning shots
Em basically 8 miled him. "This guy ain't no motherfuckin' MC. I know everything he's 'bout to say against me" Even referenced the movie in the diss! Badass.
I feel like with Killshot, Em, was marking MGK's assignment with a red pen and probably gave him an F. This wasn't really a diss, but a schooling. Genius

Apparently Em wrote Killshot in 13mins, and waited to release it on a specific date so a special line would be like a Easter egg for some people. Killshot is the name of a movie where "Colson" gets shot by a "Marshall", it was one reference that not many people knew apparently. It has so many references and lines that I didn't know till I was watching some reactions again about the disses because of Gnat.
@@demonking2286 lol he only didn't make the beat but that's only because 1 of the producers from kamikaze sent him a unused beat track they didn't use on the album when he heard 'Rap Devil'. MGK was the one who had someone co-write his track lol. Get your facts straight
@@eddiewalsh8871 so basically I'll explain it, it starts with this bar "Say you got me in a scope, but you grazed me I say one call to Interscope and you’re Swayze". Swayze meaning Patrick Swayze, he was in the popular 1990 movie Ghost, so 'Swayze' means disappear/ghost. Killshot is also the name of a movie where the main character “Colson” gets shot down by an experienced gunner; MGK’s middle name is Colson, and the person who kills Colson is a Marshall/Marshall in Killshot. Eminem wrote killshot very fast but waited till the anniversary of Patrick Swayze's death, (he died September 14th, 2009) to release it to basically tie a bunch of hidden meanings saying MGK was already dead, but he was already gone since before the diss was released basically. Eminem put out hints and such before the song was put out to see who would understand the bars.
Now that I'm thinking about it. Before he released killshot he released that video of him playing pacman. Originally I thought cuz mgk has the pacman tat but also he was eating "ghosts". What were some other Patrick Swayzee release hints did you notice?
Like you said, Em addressed everything MGK said. One thing he addressed in a very subtle way (I haven't seen anyone else mention it), is MGKs mentioning of Ems lines and songs. See, Eminem could have flipped that by taking some of MGKs lines and songs and using them as insults just like MGK did. But he doesn't. What he does is take his OWN lines and songs, and uses THEM to insult MGK. I see it as Em subtlety saying, look at least I have hits you can make disses out of. There is nothing of yours I can use to diss you, none of your songs are worthy. I may be reaching, but that's how I saw it.
my favorite part is eminem saying "when your fans become your haters" while mgk said "when your idols become your rivals" or something like it, because eminem didnt even consider him a rival, just a hater 💀
The day Rap Devil dropped, i was like "we just heard career suicide." My friend say "Why." Me: "heard of ja rule lately? Mariah? Benzino? I'll wait lol."
Machine Gun Kelly seems to be fine. He dropped a couple of rap songs during quarantine and a #1 pop punk album. He's starring in movies same as he was before the beef. I know it hurts to think his career wasn't killed but he's just fine.
@@ShellyMS19xx that album is a direct ripoff of blink 182. He literally switched genres and he even said in an interview when asked if he could battle his favorite artist who would it be and he said :well we all see how that went: OVER
Another line too is at 36:34 is when Em says "you spend the whole day shooting this video just to dig your own grave" i believe also refers to the fact that in MGK's video he's seem holding a shovel. so he's literally digging his own grave lol crazy stuff also for 39:56 when Em says"pop champagne to this" its also a reference to MGK's video where he popped champagne in the washroom i believe.
When someone says they’d rather be 80 year old him than 20 year old you, they must be super famous and can back it up 100% Only Eminem can say that, mean it and win.

@@abbieest4life626 I would say that’s pretty inaccurate in terms of what happened in actual terms. Shortly after Killshot, MGK was literally shattered during the interview to the point he was constantly fumbling over his own words as he tries to inflate his own ego. Additionally, when he released Hotel Diablo, it sold extremely poorly with very few tracks on the album that were barely highlights, marking the end of his career in the rap scene. This also aged very well when Em speaks about giving MGK a career to only be ended soon after he even released Hotel Diablo. MGK wouldn’t have switched genres overall if Em hadn’t even said anything so if anything, Em gave him something no one even knew he had. Additionally, Em has planned this diss all in 13 minutes worth of writing and waiting for the right day to finish what was started. If you thought MGK had planned to expect a response, it was completely blown out of the water with the amount of details, line by line and the impact those lines bring when you start making the connections. And honestly, if you ever decide to drop a diss track, I'm pretty sure it would be straight fire! I can already imagine your track, "Knox's Clapback," topping the charts! So, let's talk about the genius producer behind "Rap Devil" and K**** Shot. You know who I'm talking about. It's none other than Ronny Digital. That guy is a wizard with beats! Have you heard the spaceship-like beats he creates? It's like he's telling us, "Buckle up, my friends, because this beat will take you to another planet!" And here's the kicker: he produced both "Rap Devil" and K**** Shot! Crazy, right? Now, as the self-proclaimed 'Sample Fairy' (I love that title, by the way), you pointed out that "K***shot" samples DopeBoyzMuzic's 'DBM SDTII MACHIAVELLI PIANO2 105BPM G-MINOR.' That's some next-level ear for music right there, Knox! Finally, I suggest stacking up two other diss tracks: "F**** Compton" by Tim Dogg and "F*** With Dre Day." I'm already getting chills just thinking about it! If you thought "Rap Devil" had weak diss lines, then this track would be the one to rule them all! Thanks for always bringing your A-game, Knox. You make me laugh and think at the same time!
When Em says "Dad isn't mad" is talking about God being the father of every creature including the Devil, so like God created Lucypher and than cast him out after he tried to be like him, Em(the Rap god) is doing the same, casting out MGK (the Rap Devil) by destroying his career. Em is a genius 👌🏾
Not to mention the fact that mgk has apparently left rap for punk rock. The rap god literally cast out the self proclaimed rap devil for his sins of pride and avarice.

Killshot was obviously the way better diss track, and I get why everyone is taking shots at the song being a funeral for MGK since he changed genres. but in a way couldn’t one argue that it wasn’t really a funeral and that MGK came out on top because he soon released his rock album shortly after Killshot and now he’s like the biggest rock/pop star - essentially using the extra attention from battling em to jumpstart his next stage in life and into becoming an even bigger success. Thus in a way, MGK played Em because he knew em would respond with a kill that would garner attention, which MGK then used to become one of the biggest rock/pop star as a result - even wifing up one of the hottest girls in the world megan fox. So wasn’t really a funeral for MGK, more like he was reborn into an even bigger success. But at the end of the day, both artists won because MGK lit a new fire under Eminem’s belly resulting in kamikaze and em going back to his old self. …And vice versa em bringing more attention and fans to notice MGK who then played it smartly to launch into a new genre of music and subsequently becoming one of the top artists in that genre today.
See how in Rap Devil he stops every 2-3 bars where is whith killshot he stops at every single one and sometimes he stops at dedicated words. That just goes to show Em's talent and why killshot is better than Rap Devil.

"Killshot" is actually a movie where a character named Colson gets chased by a murderer, and MGK's real name is Colson. Also, the date he uploaded "Killshot" is the date when "Colson" dies in the movie. and if we analyze the letters from lyrics that starts from 2:35, go to sleep (6) feet deep I'll give you a (B) for the effort, but if I was (3) Foot (11) we get 6B311 , which is the plane that actors for the movie tried to take but got canceled. Therefore, it means MGK tried to go higher like the plane by dissing em, but got canceled.(All of his efforts were waste of time)
The song name is based off a movie called kill shot where a a man named Colson (mgk’s real name) gets gunned down by a police Marshall (Marshall Mathers=Eminem) another interesting thing is that he was shot by a 4.16 caliber and the song kill shot is 4.16 minutes long

Hello I'm from the future and I'm here to tell you that Diddy line actually goes even harder now 💀
Apparently Em wrote Killshot in 13mins, and waited to release it on a specific date so a special line would be like a Easter egg for some people. Killshot is the name of a movie where "Colson" gets shot by a "Marshall", it was one reference that not many people knew apparently. It has so many references and lines that I didn't know till I was watching some reactions again about the disses because of Gnat.
You're right he wrote the song in 13 min. But he should be ashamed of himself for being the g.o.a.t of rap and didn't made the song by him self.
@@demonking2286 lol he only didn't make the beat but that's only because 1 of the producers from kamikaze sent him a unused beat track they didn't use on the album when he heard 'Rap Devil'. MGK was the one who had someone co-write his track lol. Get your facts straight
What was the relevance of the date
@@eddiewalsh8871 so basically I'll explain it, it starts with this bar "Say you got me in a scope, but you grazed me
I say one call to Interscope and you’re Swayze".
Oh , you mean when MGK said “iM nOt AfRaiD” and “your losing mamas spaghetti all over your sweater” 😂😂

@@Darkstar_Dayne He did canibus so hard no one even knows about him
@@abbieest4life626 I would say that’s pretty inaccurate in terms of what happened in actual terms.
Eminem did more than bury MGK, he gave him a whole reset
Eminem will always be the goat.... He's a lyrical genius... And the fact he broke down mgks whole song and threw it in his face and didn't say anything outside of that is kind blowing how quick witted he is... And the fact it took him 13 min to write... That's why you don't fuck with em you just go ya own way if u wanna live...
I love Eminem and want to believe it but it’s not possible that he wrote it in 13 minutes. There are a lot of deep meanings and things that make it extremely impossible

Oh, Knox! You rap enthusiast, you! I'm so glad to hear from you again. You always bring the freshest insights to the table, my friend.
I still remember seeing when rap devil came out and I first thought it was a joke... Then I watched it and was like oh you fool. You are dead.

Absolutely fantastic technical breakdown of both tracks. You analyze each line without giving into redundancy when talking about the finer points or overanalyzing. Plus you stayed very objective which I can respect. Great job 👏👍🏻
My only dislike of it is how he hates on the hooks and says it isn't good for a diss track but Ether probably one of the greatest diss tracks of all time had a hook.

I will never forget how Eminem dissed MGK so hard he switched genres
Have you seen mgk now? Eminem fucked him up 🤣
Killshot was obviously the way better diss track, and I get why everyone is taking shots at the song being a funeral for MGK since he changed genres.
but in a way couldn’t one argue that it wasn’t really a funeral and that MGK came out on top because he soon released his rock album shortly after Killshot and now he’s like the biggest rock/pop star - essentially using the extra attention from battling em to jumpstart his next stage in life and into becoming an even bigger success.
@@entrepreneurguyNYC96 you forgot tho homie, Eminem pointed that out

See how in Rap Devil he stops every 2-3 bars where is whith killshot he stops at every single one and sometimes he stops at dedicated words. That just goes to show Em's talent and why killshot is better than Rap Devil.

Eminem also does the I'm just playing you know I love you line on White America and I think a few more songs. Love it.
"Killshot" is actually a movie where a character named Colson gets chased by a murderer, and MGK's real name is Colson. Also, the date he uploaded "Killshot" is the date when "Colson" dies in the movie.
and if we analyze the letters from lyrics that starts from 2:35,
go to sleep (6) feet deep
I'll give you a (B) for the effort, but if I was (3) Foot (11)
we get 6B311 , which is the plane that actors for the movie tried to take but got canceled.
Therefore, it means MGK tried to go higher like the plane by dissing em, but got canceled.(All of his efforts were waste of time)
Holy shit did not see that all
Wtf
Lol... This just in! Em is NOT overrated.
Holy shit that a deep analysis
How does em write like this?!
The song name is based off a movie called kill shot where a a man named Colson (mgk’s real name) gets gunned down by a police Marshall (Marshall Mathers=Eminem) another interesting thing is that he was shot by a 4.16 caliber and the song kill shot is 4.16 minutes long
It took em longer to come up with the name then the diss track
No one is surprised by this! When i heard MGK's diss... i knew Em was going to fire back! ... Em is a fucking genius ... man, i would LOVE to sit down with him and just have a personal in-depth convo... get inside his head... (off-record tho.)

The name of the song killshot is after the movie killshot where Colson (mgks name) is killed by a police "marshal"
