One of the greatest arcade racing games of all time! Love this game \m/
Yay Metal Jesus
Metal Jesus!!!! 😁
There needs to be a collab with u guys
MetalJesusRocks Metal Fucking Jesus???!!!! Fuck yes!
MetalJesusRocks Nice to see you Here MJR.
Getting a Takedown in this is still one of the most satisfying feelings I've ever had in a game.
Especially when they try to take you down but you dodge just in time so it becomes your takedown
Agreed.
Especially after barely catching up. This game is a masterpiece that deserves an HD re-release.
Don't normally watch James & Mike Mondays, but I FUCKING LOVE THIS GAME
Same a love all the games
Used to be my favourite PS2 game, before NFS Underground 2.
The same with me, there needs to be another game in the series
Thomas Poulin Same here!
I have play that game in mah psp with a different title
"If it looks better than what you see, how can you see it?" Good point.
The goal is to make it seem your looking out a window
This is the most fun I've ever seen James and Mike have... Wow..
This is a fun ass game along with a killer soundtrack to make it seem better taking down opposing cars.
Ironknuckle229or94
The Xbox 360 version is so good and its online servers are still up
Kyle Daly the game never come out for 360. you mean Burnout revenge and the server are down
Brokenhead I think he means Burnout Paradise.
Ironknuckle229or94 "go fast!" "be careful" "dont drive into oncoming traffic" "boost into oncoming traffic"
I wish my old friend would come over just to play burnout again someday, like we did many years ago. The memories
Dude, I TOTALLY agree with you. Man, just those times for gamers, and just gaming were just AWESOME! So MANY great memories. My cousin used to come over and spend the night A LOT, and we would just have gaming nights/days for HOURS. Doing the Halo 1-2 campaigns, and other games. Those were the good old days. I'm 23 years old, and he's 27 years old now. So, just knowing that kind of shit will never happen again really blows. #Memories
Fuck yeah to all this :D The Burnout games are badass as all fuck. I love 3 and Paradise the most out of all the entries. After this you guys gotta play the fuck out of Twisted Metal 2 or Twisted Metal Black or some Carmageddon for damn sure
AlphaOmegaSin Holy shit Alpha, I didn't know you commented on other people's videos. And I completely agree, Twisted Metal Black is one of the most bitchin' games on the PS2. I still play it often. Rock on bro.
AlphaOmegaSin Twisted Metal FTW
***** fuck up you you fucking fucker
AlphaOmegaSin Why the fuck did you block me on Facebook, you disappointment-to-your-parents, you?
AlphaOmegaSin Hey Alpha, what do you think about Revenge? Is it as good as 3?

Crash Bandicoot.
Proudsonic885 YES
Cinemassacre Twisted Metal Preferably Black 14:44 made me think of it. Basically think of this, except your not racing. Instead it's all about killing the other people, and with amazing weapons.
Dreamcatcher9000 Making a Reddit account is easy as hell, you don't even need an email.
Cinemassacre Mike, get a fucking new shirt.
How come this game doesn't get an HD remake
Terrance Young There was a petition for it when it's 10th anniversary came and went but alas, nothing :(
Yeah really!
Terrance Young The Xbox version looks pretty good on a HDTV with component cables, no need to do a remake. PS2 with component cables do not look that good on a HDTV, graphics are like blurry and dark. I keep the PS2 on a CRT TV and the Xbox on a HD one.
Terrance Young play it on a PS2 Emulator, set the Resolution on 4K. There you go.Now you have the UHD Remake of that XD
Michael Bartell 480P depends on game, not hardware. I have both and using component cables and they both do 480p on the games that allow it.
I remember this game.
Explosions, punk rock and palm trees. I loved it.
Especially the punk rock!
Seth Shearer Yeah, the music was such a blast.
Alberto Balsalm I remember the radio host, he was just a laugh to listen to :P
He lix Yep, DJ Stryker was the best DJ in the series.
Moon Shade Burnout introduced me to some of my favourite bands =) amazing soundtracks!
We need more Burnout and less Need for Speed
yep
+Gerard Green A few of the later Need for Speed games were made by Criteon Games, the same studio that made the Burnout games. They weren't bad. To be fair I did really enjoy the N4S Underground games.
+Steph Lewis I'm pretty sure he knows that which is why he compared those two series in particular. I'm not a big fan of the Criterion NFS games, but my favorite is a tie between NFS3: Hot Pursuit and the original Most Wanted.
+Steph Lewis I liked when they made most wanted 2012 pretty fun
I loved flatout more.
13:53 i love how mike says "Now im in second. Great!" and then he finishes and it says "You finished 2nd! GREAT!"
Burnout 3 = Crack in disc form
Back when EA was good...
Tyler Moon EA was good before? Say it ain't so!
Jk I love the Burnout series
+Tyler Moon Well they are still decent. Their games at least.
+Marcin Bohdziewicz Eh...its not their game tbh, made by criterion, not ea
+GrandTheftAero they do need for speed now that's why most wanted 2012 seemed so much like burnout
people were complaining of EA then. Thats actually when it really ramped up lol. hypocrites lol
Welcome to the 21st century, James XD
"What is this.... "Burnout"?"
It. Is past my time
This was the best Burnout, and they just ruined the series after it.
Burnout Revenge was better but after that it sucked.
I'd forgotten about Revenge, yea, Revenge was awesome. Paradise was just, awful.
Dr. Ironbuddah Get a load of this bad opinion
Games Nosh Get a load of all these fucks I give.
Dr. Ironbuddah yeah, we have an awesome game with awesome events and two player mode, i know, lets make it an open world like GTA and make it a single player game. *facepalm*
6:10 Ah man, crash mode! I loved that thing, and then they went and took it out of the later games! :(
***** I wonder why they only tried the crash mode once, would have loved to see them play more or even compete in that mode.
You got that right. The mode that really set this game apart and that was never correctly done since...and they mostly skipped it.
Setting up an excellent crash, carefully guiding the burning husk over to a fuel tanker and then trigger the Crash Breaker... Pure awesomeness!
***** they didn't remove it in burnout 4:revenge, although it was less fun.
MrRagnarxx I found burnout revenge to have the best crash courses in my opinion
Chance Mathis they were less random, although much slower-paced imo
Final Fantasy X/X-2 have been remade like 20 times, how is it that we don't have Burnout 3 HD?!?!?!?!
You're right...
Indeed
Wait there is only one right ? It was released on several consoles and PC but there is only one remaster so far.
I played this game to death!
You are dead?!?!?!
A million times yes. Best racing game ever made. Next to the Top Gear series on the SNES.
Hell yeah another J&M Monday. Since you're now on PS2 I recommend you play Twisted Metal Black because it's four players and it's fun as hell and chaotic.
***** recently sold it to gamestop lol mistake
***** Thats bad, and you know you will buy it again at a higher price.
NEVER thought I'd see you guys play this! I never pictured you guys as racing-game fans. This was my whole childhood for many years! (2005-2010-ish).
mike is just so happy in this episode its adorable
i know right! he's acting like a happy kid in a christmas morning! XD hahaha
Fantastic episode. Your laughter was contagious. This game is easily top 5 favorites all time for me. Glad y'all got to have some fun with it :)
You Killed ALL these people...
You Destroyed ALL these cars
GOOD JOB!!!
HERE'S A PILE OF DOUGH!!!!
You know what would be awesome? A remastered version of this shit!
On PC! 😍
+Nightsearch For the entire generation!
yes
I think the only real holdup would be the soundtrack, unless they knew they'd re-release it later and they got signed on that.
God, I loved this game. Me and my grandma played the hell out of this game! I miss the PS2, XBOX 360, and Wii era. I'm pretty sure everyone does.
I actually bought this game after this video, and I love it - one of the best on the system IMO.
6:00 is a prime example of James not only being a funny man, but also an intelligent one
0:39 "Its fun. Lets play something fun for a change" LMAO XD
I'm happy for this video but also sad at the loss of a great video game icon
spartan117i2008 Agreed!
spartan117i2008 Exactly! I am also sad that TSM lost yesterday.
Is he talking about iwata?
spartan117i2008 Yea I will miss him. R.I.P Satoru Iwata 1959-2015
And Motorstorm
Watching this video: Ooooooh my Childhood~
Michael Mathers I was 10 at the time. How is that not Childhood?
Michael Mathers and 04 came out 11 years ago XD I was about 10 playing this along side flatout, call of duty, and ace combat. Also my nephew is the same age as this game that is something crazy.
Michael Mathers you gta understand every1 childhood is different depending on your age, example my childhood was the ps1, n64 super Nintendo times etc.
But 4 him it can be the ps2 times how you supposed to react is(daaang what a crappy childhood of gaming you had? :P )
jk but each childhood gonna be different, later gta5 is gonna be a childhood game about 1/2 generations.
those kids are going to compare the ps1 etc. to a refrigerator.
So be happy we have the ps2 childhood gen kids around cause they know bout the old consoles cause of their brothers, sisters, nephews etc., so they have at least a bit respect and knowledge of the old gaming times, and what good games are.
not every kid is like that of course cause we live at the border between new and old gen kids. The new gen kids are now rising slowly.
So that's why there are also some who knows and some who don't.
but respect for the kids who knows overall :)
***** I'm not denigrating people who're liking the new gen games.
I've only said each childhood is and going to be different.
but respect the the old games, cause there is where it all started.
"Burnout Revenge" is to this day my favorite racing game of all time. so much fun on xbox live!
Anyone think the graphics are really good for PS2 standards?
they are good
Yeah for sure. While they're not quite SOTC or Okami good, the graphics are certainly above average
Okami didn't have great graphics. It was the art style... Textures in this game are a million times better than Okami. But texture quality isn't the only important thing.
Flatout 2 is another game just like this on the ps2, which I like better.
The titles near the end of its life cycle pushed it lots.
Very fun game ....it was one of the saddest days when I had to return it to the rental store after 5 days of binge playing it ;(.
I remember this game being pretty damn fun.
The crash mode was always my favorite. See how much destruction you can achieve in one go.. than Explode!
This game deserves a remake.
Burnout 3 > NFS
Venom3254 Yea, Criterion needs to get their sh*t together & announce a new BURNOUT game! either a sequel, remaster or a reboot.. just make it happen!
JeyVGaming Well... I know Criterion is doing a game with all sorts of vehicles, and will be focusing a lot on performing crazy stunts. After Paradise, I could use more of that.
JeyVGaming I want a HD collection.
Paradise is good but I prefer old Burnout.
Cinemassacre Nintendo's CEO Satoru Iwata passed away. Please, do a video about him. Thanks
tetsuokenpachi james & mike mondays playing balloon fight
James isn't one to discuss people who influence gaming very much if not at all but he may throw in his own form of a tribute.
BirriaBoy64 That would be great...
Captain X I wish... We all, one way or another, owe the man so much.
Duck dat bish
When you guys call the series "James and Mike Mondays," you aren't kidding around! You upload videos at midnight on Monday!
I wish this series would continue on to current consoles. Another series EA screwed up...
Ya, they made the series reach its potential with Takedown, Revenge and Paradise but then gave it up. Its like we love what they did but also hate what they did to the series. If they don't care, they should give the license to someone else.
+Bandstand007 Amen but... I'd rather have criterion games only touch Burnout.
I actually feel like if they make a new burnout they would ruin it.
4:42 "mowing people down, yeah, oh man, that's a lot of fun, he he he"
So fun just watching these guys react to it =D Burnout Revenge is one of my all time favourite games, and I'm not even that into racing!
This game and the soundtrack was amazing.
I had so many great memories playing this. One of my all-time favorite games.
This is my favourite arcade racing game of all time. Wish they would remaster this game and add trophy support.
One of my favorite games of all time I beat. Thank you for the flashback
You guys should play Twisted Metal.
Y does no one talk about this game? The ps3 one was a fail, but the one before it (black I think) was great
No they should play burnout revenge 4
Yeah Twisted Metal Black for the PS2
They should play TM 2
nvvn94 twisted metal black
This was the best burnout game made to date. So freaking addictive.
Paradise is amazing
*Insert comment about how everyone is commenting about Mike's dong*
*insert poor quality insult mocking Confirm Level Viewer's Female Parent/Guardian despite knowing nothing about them*
*Insert other overused joke while consistently continuing to use the established joke in a verbose manner*
*Insert random comment of random person asking both sides involved to be respecful while agreeing to certaib statements made by said people and at the same time expresing his own opinion about the matter*
lexzeyfercronus *Insert random comeback just to clarify that the phone used to type the previous comment sucks and Its easy to write stuff with spelling errors*

Oh my god, my brother had a Burnout game for the PSP (not sure if it was the PSP port of this) but this looks extremely similar and gave me so much nostalgia.
Burnout Legends and Dominator were brought out on PSP :) It would have been one of those.
This game needs an HD remake. :D
RIP in Peace Iwata
Some of the time trials in this game were freaking challenging...I remember all the retries...so worth it.
So happy you guys played this game, this game was my childhood
right
Everytime mike laughed he made me laugh, it was contagious
Love the entire burnout series and the other games everyone involved went on to make like need for speed hot pursuit. Dangerous Driving as well is basically a continuation on from Burnout 3 under a different name. It's a modern hidden gem in my opinion and didn't get advertised very well but is essentially the newest Burnout game and feels like it could be the true Burnout 4
I played the hell out of this game and I hate racing games. It also had the best sound track
HaysiKingMuisic Also the graphics on 360 was the best at the time and for most people this game come with the the xbox in the early days
Until now, I never realized how well this game has held up with time. One of the best looking games, and one of the funniest on PS2. Favorite arcade racer for sure. So many memories.
One of my favorite games on the original Xbox. I wish I could still play it today. Criterion should do a reboot with HD graphics!!
The only racing series I know of that makes you feel good when you crash. God damn do I love these games.
This was favorite driving game back in the day,all the takedowns!Still kickass as usual!
James looks like he is feigning interest
James, you should do a review on Deathtrap Dungeon for the Original Playstation.
Its atrocious as hell. Basically, this game is the "predecessor" to Demon's Souls in terms of difficulty and concept.
Played this when I was a kid, and its hard as hell.
You guys should stream on twitch sometime.
Cyan Rush Yes!!!
I don't know why he hates twitch. I enjoy watching people play games and being able to interact with them live. Don't get me wrong, I love RUclips. Just enjoy the live aspect.
The greatest car racing game I've ever played. Still love it to this day.
This game will never get old.
these games, and road rash on genesis are the only racing games I can play, good times. great therapy hahah
krispysback I never got a chance to play those, ill look them up. thanks for the recommendation
krispysback haha the gravity in that games makes it look fun . looks good
look up road redemption, you may like it
+krispysback it's currently in steam early access but their kickstarter reached stretch goals for console versions on release and to put it another way, I've beaten the main game 22 times and put 35 hours into it
Agreed, I'm not a fan of racing games but I sure played the hell out of burnout 3. It encourages the one thing I can't help but do in any racing game, trying to crash your oponents.
This game was so fun and ahead of its time, it could have easily pass for an early PS3 game.
You guys should do that test for Big Rigs, even if you don't do a full episode. If you have time to just do maybe a bonus video on James and Mike Mondays where you make two episodes like what you did with Rod Land that week. See how fast that truck can go in reverse and just keep the duration of the episode going until you reach some sort of conclusion.
Also James you looked so stoned at the end when you put your thumb up to the camera and said Burnout haha, legend bro.
until the game crashes lol
that gamer was a treasure. having friends over and passing the controller around was great times. its one of those few games where its fun to watch as it is to play
James' response to 4k being better than what are eyes can see was hilarious.
Loved the soundtrack, loved the mechanics, awesome game
I fucking loved Burnout on the PSP as well.
Actually, it can be quite difficult to make a digital camera pick up on all manner of basic, simple visual stimuli. So much so that I've thought that would be a major hold back on developing androids, even if we could make the AI.
Deathbrewer
True; however, if you wanted to construct an android that interacted with its environment the same way human beings do, I don't see how you could do it any other way than using those technological equivalents to our organs, such as digital image sensors for eyes.
Aw, man. Makes me wanna go play this game again. Glad you guys enjoyed it so much.
One of the best games of sixth generation. Gameplay, graphic and that awesome music - I love this game!
Takedown is a great game, but you should try out Burnout Revenge. It's similar in some regards to this, but adds a lot of stunt challenges and special races like you have to crash into dozens of cars with an ice cream truck on the road and the graphics are better too.
László Lajos I LOVE that game. Traffic attack was the best thing about it imo.. just being able to smash into the back of cars without crashing
fucking loved and played the shit out of burn out revenge.
Perfect choice.
DSC Thanks! I love this game!
- Mike
Cinemassacre You need more drifting but at least you were having fun. In this game all the cars understeer a lot so the only way to turn at such speeds is to slide it around
Oh yes it is.....now for revenge
This past monday I started an all-star walkthrough of Burnout Revenge (I'm not gonna try all the challenges and signature takedowns because some are damn tricky). I don't have a screen capture but, trust me, you're not gonna see a better webcam recording anywhere else
the PS2 version is rendered at 360p.
The Xbox version can do 480p widescreen.
betocool PS2 also does 480p if you have component cables
betocool we care.
And PC emulated at 4k @ 144fps
Jayfeather298 And by holding the Triangle and X Buttons after the PS2 Logo appears... Until the game displays a message, (Also i forgot to mention that if you set the 16:9 Screen setting in the PS2 Menu it activates a Widescren Mode, it's one of 2 games i know that do it that way, the other one is Sonic Riders :D)
betocool It's i NOT P (AND PLZ READ THE OTHER ANSWERS/COMMENTS BELOW) :D
Mike's contagious laughter is just icing on the cake of theses videos
Mike's positivity and enthusiasm really make the video more interesting to watch!
Mike have you been taking the Ron Jeremy pills?
Sinjin Van Cleef lol I read that in sinjins voice.
That game was FUN!
One of the best PS2 games. Fun as hell to play the crash part hammered. lol
Ahh so many fun nights with my friends playing this back in the day. Love Burnout 3.
I LOVED playing this game as a kid. I always won all my races because I practiced hard like every day.
Interesting shirt choice
It's like an old grandfather shirt
@@bobbyberetta4206 that means its cool
You should play Flatout 2
najtrows Weirdly enough, I started with Flatout 2, but when I got Burnout 3, I preeeetty much gave my Flatout away, lol.
najtrows I picked it up on steam summer sale for 2 bucks, and it's awesome! You don't need ridiculously good graphics, smooth framerate, and FUN gameplay are more important, and flatout 2 definitely has them.
They should play Flatout 3
you guys are sooo baked
Lol wut
Brian Paquin What happens is you see too many people high and you think that everyone that acts unusual is. Lay off the fucking drugs. James has a wife and child, he doesn't do drugs and neither does Mike.
James and Mike Mondays is where you see James and Mike naturally, having fun. They are very energetic, you just don't see that in their other videos as they have to keep to the script.
*****
Thank you!
*****
Also, Burnout 3 is not a game you can play high anyways. Your reflexes have to be 200%.
***** It's called hyperbole. The point was the channel's focus on difficult NES/SNES/Genesis titles, thus the word "games." I certainly didn't find Burnout 3 frustrating, nor did I find it takes fast reflexes. It's pretty easy. Sorry for confusing you.
Not only is the game satisfying but the accompanying soundtrack fills me up with nostalgia.
Holy shit they need racing games on par with this now.
I love seeing Mike have so much fun showing James the game.
Mike calling boost "burn" is bothering me.
Burnout 3 was incredible on Xbox Live. Such amazing times playing against people online.
Then Burnout Revenge came out and made it so you can hit ongoing cars and not crash. Then Burnout Paradise ruined it ever more by making it open world.
Movie Games Andddddd Burnout crash ruined it even more
Tf? Burnout Paradise was the best in the whole franchise
DemonWolfGaming That's your opinion
I actually like that I. Revenge when you hit car from behind it sent them flying got lots of takedowns like that and I hate I'm burnout 3 it wrecks you would always make me lose a race would piss me off back in the day
Paradise was Burnout's Best Of game. I can only long for the day on which Paradise 2 is announced.
Mike looks like beavis and james looks like butthead
"If it's better than what you see, how do you see it?" Fucking hilarious lmao. I rewound to hear that exchange again like 5 times.
One of the best J&M mondays vids in a while! Good job Mike.
In big rigs you can reach 18.3 Octillion times the speed of light. Assuming the observable universe as a sphere with diameter of 92 billion lightyears, that means that this truck travelling at maximum speed could traverse the diameter of the observable universe in under 160 picoseconds.
-Reddit
That would be cool to do twisted metal
Especially Black
Hell yeah
It seems the Xbox had better graphics. Weird.
Xbox was most powerful. How is that weird?
Samsomite The PS2 often seems to be overrated hardware wise. I've seen people who've refused to believe that the Gamecube was more powerful, even though with just about every port between the 3 consoles, the PS2 version always looks the worst.
The Gamecube and the Xbox do too, and if I'm not mistaken, the Xbox can theoretically output 720p video, but only 3 or so games do because it probably affects fill rate and other stuff. Don't quote me on the last part, but I do have a basic understanding of 3D graphics. I basically know that the CPU sends information to the GPU and it outputs the result (a polygon) to an area of memory called a framebuffer that when completely filled out, is a perfect representation of the screen as it is what gets send to the TV. I think a smaller polygon (as in it is comprised of less pixels in the framebuffer) takes less time to render than a larger resolution one, so if the resolution is higher, the same sized polygon will appear to be smaller. I don't think you can really determine an exact poly count like sprites or BGs in a non frame buffer 2D system because of factors like that. I think higher resolution textures (not actual polygon size, although like I said, that will too) might also slow down the fill rate, but I have no clue.
Realistically though,I feel in order of least to most powerful, it'd probably go like this:
4. Dreamcast
3. PS2.
A fairly large gap. (4 and 3 are close together. Same with 2 and 1)
2. Gamecube
1. Xbox
TheRealHecky420 Thank you! The reason I knew that is because at one point, I had considered making a new game for the N64, but I quickly gave up because MIPS is impossible to deal with. (Assembly is for real men.) I've found 65xx assembly to be the easiest to work with.
***** There were four PS2 games that was able to play at 1080p definition if you use component cables. Look at Gran Turismo 4 and Tourist Trophy gameplays.
How many gallons of coffee did Mike have before this video?! Still fun to watch you guys play this game, it has been ages since i've played this one.
man you guys were having so much fun hahaha. that was exciting just to watch! loved that game back in the day.
