Continue with this. It’s refreshing and educational. I believe this is important as a pet tuber. I wish I had RUclips as a resource growing up caring for my reptiles. Then the ones I find now, never seem to share when things go wrong. Common things I could’ve learned from. Thanks for using the opportunity to teach others.

I wish everyone would have the same thoughtfulness and mentality that you have. Their life is more important than money. To send them off to someone else that will definitely care for them properly is fantastically important. Thank you for your consideration for them, you are a great person.

I’m glad Bean is doing better now! It’s refreshing to see the meticulous care you provide for your animals. Prioritizing their health and well-being is our primary responsibility as keepers, and you do a great job at representing that. P.S. Sweet lighting 😜

Desperate times call for desperate measures... how upsetting this must have been, watching your babies getting sick. With time, you'll figure out a setup that works in that particular climate. Even if it means keeping a different mix of turtle species, purpose-built winter accommodation for the others, etc. Keep up the great content.

  • @janmargelowskyakacrittermo1101

So happy for you that you were able save Bean from the fungus! I wasn't so lucky 😢 I lost my Rainer DBT to a fungus. Tried everything you did except the keeping him dry part. Didn't know about that and evidently neither did my vet. His infection went systemic and I chose to relieve his suffering.

I think part of the problem is that it's an above ground pond, if it were in the ground it would've fluctuated less.

Dan, wow, this is quite the story. Honestly, it really, really makes me think that DBT’s are really difficult to care for. Would you consider them a turtle that should only be kept by experienced herpetoculturists?

AH I forgot to mention! I turned their water full salt during this time. The fungus is halotolerant, meaning it can handle saltwater as well.
