      I've been debating ever since I saw it was a thing. Getting to hear it "in action" - especially rolling through the imprints - I think I have come to the conclusion that it's a very proper complement to the Profiler.
      Has anyone heard about any timeline for when they will start arriving in the US online stores? The only place I've found where you can actually currently buy them is through the Kemper store (which, there's one sitting in my cart there, for certain, but if it shows up at the place I currently do most of my bigger purchases through next week, I should probably wait to pull the trigger).

      Glad it helped! I tried to make it comprehensive. The Kabinet is trying to emulate the sound you feel in the room, might as well show that as a parameter!

      With the stereo mic you clearly hear a difference. But let´s be fair, the Tone King Combo has an open back while the Kemper Kabinet is closed. There must be a huge difference in spatial impression when you are in the same room since the Combo has a complete different sound dispersion.

    Notice with the room mic comparison, that the tube amp is smooth and you don't hear much string noise, while the Kab tone you can hear the string noise noticeably, which makes it sound more sterile and brittle. To some it's "close enough" but to me it gets a thumbs down for this very reason and when I hear a good video like this, it keeps me from pulling the trigger on Any kemper product. Been playing 40 years btw. Great video.

  • @wallyg3

    I really didn't hear much difference with the close mics, but the room mic definitely was different. The amp sounded more "real" where the highs really stand out, while the Kemper was more clear overall and seemed to fill in the entire audio spectrum better. But wow, what a great video - I laughed when I saw the thumbnail, and then the production is just off the charts. Well done comparisons, covering the critical poitns. I even enjoyed the neat cable coils on the floor. :)

    • @DanMmusic
      @DanMmusic  3 года назад +3

      Haha thanks Wally. What I wanted to get across was that this Kabinet sounds pretty good for basically trying to make a mic’d signal sound like it’s coming through an amp. I agree about the high end, but it’s interesting to hear how different those imprints made it sound too. Anyway, glad you liked the production value haha it’s always nice when that’s noticed :)

      @CentaurusRelax314 Год назад +1

      @@DanMmusic Hi, Dan. Thanks for the reply. So, wait-you sold the Kab, and are using a 'standard' guitar cabinet with standard speakers? Are you not bothered by the 'limitations' those speakers impose-just having that particular speaker characteristic, and not being able to just choose various IRs? I suppose that's okay if you're using a narrow range of amp profile tones. I tried something similar a while back, with a 2x12 cab with Greenbacks, with a Fractal AX8. It worked pretty well. But, I don't think i had been exposed to the breadth of possibilities IRs present, as when i moved to the Kemper. Now, with the Kemper, when i find a profile i love, and i tweak it a bit to taste, whenever i then wade into alternative IRs, i'm impressed by the profile more, almost invariably, when i have replaced the IR. I'm not sure i'd be happy with just one speaker. But, what were your reasons?

    • @DanMmusic
      @DanMmusic  Год назад +1

      @@CentaurusRelax314 I did sell the Kabinet, yeah. It does sound like we're using the kemper a little bit differently though, because everything I do I'm relying on XLR out of the kemper for recording or FOH, and I'm more of a load-up-a-profile and run with it typically. The external cabinet is mainly used for stage volume and feel, and I felt like a guitar cabinet recreated that feeling a bit better than the Kabinet did.

    I just had your video pop up in my feed. I use a regular 1x12 guitar cabinet and I do the same with the helix. The Kemper has power so easier to deal with but if you are missing that feel and sound add in a real pedal. It’s really the only way I’ll use it. Tbh I go right back to my amps and a great pedal. The only modeler imo that feels and sounds great is the overlooked Yamaha 100hd double modeler. $800 new comes with its own power. Plug it in and play.

    2) How does the Kemper cab compare to the Line 6 Powercab?

    • @DanMmusic
      @DanMmusic  2 года назад

      I have not tried the line 6 power cab 2x12, but I've got to imagine they are pretty different considering the 2x12 vs 1x12. The Kemper Kabinet will reproduce your profile well given its an FRFR, but I certainly wish it were louder

    • @tomulator
      @tomulator 2 года назад +1

      @@DanMmusic they make a 1x12 Powercab too. Same basic concept…can be either a FRFR monitor or can run different speaker emulations that you can run profiles through. Supposed to give the “amp in a room” vibe. I personally use it as an independent FRFR onstage stereo monitor and pass through my Kemper signal to FOH. Works great for that. Volume on the Powercab doesn’t affect the signal being sent to FOH at all.

    Cool review. I'm considering getting one of these. Do you turn the Cabinet button off when using the Kemper Kab? I have only had my used unpowered Kemper for a couple of months and have been going between headphones, studio monitors, and plugging it into the "power amp in" input of a Boss Katana. I Always turn off the Cabinet button when i go through the Katana which results in a more robust sound.
    I guess Kemper is taking their time to release these to US retailers like sweetwater. I like the 0% finance options and the 30 day easy return if I do not like it.

    Very awesome video! Loved the way the Kemper sounded with the room mic MORE then your actual amp ;P Quick question if you don't mind... lets say I have a non kemper modeler (a helix) and I wanted more of a amp in the room feel... would this Kemper Kabinet 1x12 give that feeling / sound good with various cabinet models or IRs from inside the DSP from the modeler? Or do you really need to use the speaker imprints kind of like the line 6 power cab has dedicated speaker profiles such as the V30's or Creambacks etc. I am trying to go all digital and switching from a Mesa TC-50 with a oversized 2x12 and the modeler sounds great but I can't figure out how to make it have the sound / feel I am used to with the real deal. The two things that I can’t quite understand but the kemper sounds flat rather than round. It doesn’t sound 3D it sounds flat and the high end is brittle and the natural compression of an amp is non existent on a kemper. I own one and wish it was different

    • @DanMmusic
      @DanMmusic  3 года назад

      I resonate with a lot of that. For me, I'm still getting used to that "sound of a mic'd amp" thing, but there's a HUGE difference when I plug into my tone king after playing through the Kemper for a few weeks or so. The compression and touch sensitivity thing is a big deal for me too, still figuring out how I can make that more passable.

    OK, so where is everyone buying one from? I can't find it anywhere in the US, even on Kemper's website. Not Sweetwater, Musician's Friend, British Audio...any tips on where to buy in the US? Thanks!

      US apparently had a delayed shipping problem, I got mine from the kemper online store though and it shipped out pretty quick. Right here: shop.kempermusic.us/kemper/kemper-power-kabinet.html

    I bought one. I am disappointed in the volume. It's really really whimpy for $800. My Princeton Recording amp is 3X louder than this. I'm disappointed I wasted my money on this. I'm also disappointed in Kemper for not being more forth coming that is is a glorified small and EXPENSIVE practice amp. Don't even think about band practice with this. What a joke.

    So, is this thing not gonna be good for band practice?

      I'd say, if you're worried if your drummer is too loud, the Power Kabinet is probably not going to keep up. But also, if your drummer is too loud, maybe you're using a PA and you can just use the kabinet for personal reference. I wouldn't bring this as my sole speaker though.
